Abstract

Menopause is a natural biological phase in women that is characterized by the cessation of the menstrual cycle due to a decrease in the hormones estrogen and progesterone. A decrease in this hormone has implications for an increased risk of hypertension and degenerative diseases such as diabetes and osteoporosis. This phenomenon is also seen in the elderly in RW 07, Tanah Tinggi Village, Central Jakarta, with a prevalence of hypertension of 48.8% and diabetes mellitus of 16.3%. This community service aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of the elderly about the effects of menopause, the risk of hypertension, degenerative diseases, and provide health screening in the form of blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar checks during (GDS). The activity was held on July 11, 2025 with 82 elderly participants aged 40–72 years. The material was delivered through lectures and interactive discussions by supervisors and students, with PPT and leaflet media. Knowledge evaluation using pre-test and post-test was carried out on 35 participants who completed the questionnaire. The results showed an increase in the average score from 6.1 to 8.5, indicating an increase in understanding of educational materials. It also provides free health screening, allowing for early detection of the risk of degenerative diseases. The results of this service are in line with the literature that states that community-based education is effective in improving health literacy for the elderly. The combination of education and health screening has proven to be the right strategy for preventing complications of degenerative diseases....

Abstract

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy remains a significant public health problem that increases the risk of maternal and fetal complications. Although the prevalence in Jakarta is lower than the national average, anemia among pregnant women remains common in the Menteng Community Health Center, Central Jakarta. This condition is associated with limited knowledge of balanced nutrition, poor adherence to iron supplementation, and inadequate participation in routine antenatal care. This community service activity aimed to improve pregnant women's knowledge and awareness regarding anemia prevention through health education. The program included a baseline survey to assess participants' knowledge and behavior, interactive health education on balanced nutrition, iron supplementation, and regular antenatal care, followed by a post-education evaluation using a questionnaire. The expected outcomes were improved knowledge and positive behavioral changes in maintaining a healthy diet, regularly consuming iron tablets, and attending routine antenatal care. In conclusion, health education is an effective promotive and preventive strategy to enhance anemia prevention among pregnant women.

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the association between exclusive breastfeeding history and stunting among children aged 0–24 months at the Johar Baru District Primary Health Center. A correlational study design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The study involved 83 mothers with children aged 0–24 months, who were selected through random sampling. Data were obtained via structured interviews using a master table and subsequently analyzed using the chi-square test with a significance level set at 5%. The findings indicated that the majority of mothers were between 20 and 35 years of age (81.9%), did not have paid employment (68.9%), and had attained secondary to higher levels of education (78.3%). More than half of the respondents reported providing exclusive breastfeeding (56.6%), and most children were classified as not stunted (75.9%). Bivariate analysis revealed a statistically significant association between maternal age and the occurrence of stunting (p = 0.039). However, no significant associations were identified between maternal occupation (p = 0.159), maternal educational attainment (p = 0.203), or exclusive breastfeeding history (p = 0.925) and stunting incidence. The study concludes that stunting is influenced by multiple interrelated factors, indicating that its prevention cannot rely solely on exclusive breastfeeding. Comprehensive strategies involving sustained nutritional interventions, improved environmental sanitation, and appropriate caregiving practices are essential to effectively reduce stunting. Therefore, health professionals are encouraged to continue promoting exclusive breastfeeding while simultaneously addressing other contributing factors that support optimal child growth and development.

Abstract

Mental health issues such as depression and anxiety among pregnant women remain a significant challenge, particularly in the third trimester leading up to delivery. These conditions can negatively impact nutritional intake and fetal growth. Based on the latest Antenatal Care (ANC) program, mental health screening is included in the 12T services implemented at the Bebandem Community Health Center since 2025. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family support and the risk of depression among pregnant women in the third trimester within the service area of the Bebandem Community Health Center. The study employed an analytical, cross-sectional design with a sample size of 124 pregnant women in the third trimester, selected using a combination of stratified random sampling and consecutive sampling, and analyzed using the Chi-Square (χ²) test. The results showed that family support (p=0.665) was associated with the incidence of depression among pregnant women.
