Abstract

Abstract. The problem in mental health services is recurrence in patients. One of the efforts to prevent recurrence is through People With Schizophrenoia (PWS) empowerment at the Rumah Berdaya in Denpasar City. This study is aimed to describe the innovation of PWS empowerment in Rumah Berdaya. It is a qualitative study using a case study design to get more information about the role and innovation empowerment of PWS in Rumah Berdaya. Qualitative data collected employed in-depth interview methods with interview guideline instruments. Informants were selected based on purposive sampling. The results showed that there were several innovations in empowering for PWS in Rumah Berdaya. There are recruitment of controlled PWS as honorary workers in the social service Denpasar City to work in Rumah Berdaya, Purchase of incense produced by PWS Rumah Berdaya for use in all the agencies government denpasar city, making coconut oil, paintings, screen printing t-shirts and tote bags by PWS and then sold offline at Rumah Berdaya and online by social media, assistance for PWS family with family support, dissemination and education to the community with the aim for reducing negative stigma of PWS. Therefore, Rumah Berdaya has contributed for PWS rehabilitation process in Denpasar city. Collaboration between the government by social services and health offices, volunteers, and community to support the empowerment of PWS in Rumah Berdaya has been effective. The strong commitment is needed to support the sustainability of the empowerment program at Rumah Berdaya.Keywords: Empowerment; innovation; schizophrenia.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Konsep Keluarga Berencana (KB) secara umum pada masyarakat Aceh masih dianggap kontroversi. Rendahnya capaian program KB turut dipengaruhi oleh kondisi sosial budaya masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan tim fasilitator dan Agent of Change (AoC) yang memiliki sikap positif terhadap perencanaan keluarga dan dapat berperan untuk melakukan promosi KB yang efektif dan sesuai untuk diterapkan di lingkungan masyarakat di sekitarnya. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang dilaksanakan pada tahun 2019 menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR). Pendekatan PAR melibatkan masyarakat sebagai subjek penelitian, yang pada gilirannya mereka akan mengambil tindakan untuk meningkatkan kesehatan mereka sendiri. Lokasi penelitian di Kecamatan Peudawa Kabupaten Aceh Timur dengan fasilitator sejumlah 18 orang dan AoC sejumlah 20 orang. Hasil: Sebagian besar tim fasilitator dan AoC yang terpilih di Kecamatan Peudawa memiliki sikap yang positif terhadap perencanaan keluarga. Sebagian besar fasilitator telah melakukan perannya dengan baik. Tetapi masih belum semua AoC berperan aktif melakukan pendekatan dan KIE kepada masyarakat, khususnya yang remaja. Saran: Walaupun sebagian besar tim fasilitator dan AoC telah memiliki sikap yang positif terhadap perencanaan keluarga, tetap perlu dilakukan penggalian pengalaman dari mereka yang masih memiliki sikap negatif, dan kemudian mendiskusikannya bersama. Pada AoC yang kurang aktif melakukan perannya, perlu dilakukan pendampingan yang lebih intens dari fasilitator dengan metode yang lebih santai, sehingga mendorong AoC tersebut untuk terbuka dan aktif berdiskusi

Abstract

Consuming foods with a large amount of salt is an unhealthy lifestyle that raises blood pressure. People currently love salty foods in Indonesia. One of district in Indonesia called Jeneponto referred to hypertension as Nai’ Cera. The Jeneponto community consumes more significant salty food higher than the provincial average for South Sulawesi. An intervention study was carried out to change the habit of consuming high salt, smoking and drinking coffee. This study is qualitative with participatory action research approach. The in-depth interviews and focused group discussion were addressed to twenty-two informants which involved in an intervention program. Social engineering became the key-point to socialize the importance of the program. Well-trained local people recruited as an agent of change. They followed the social engineering intervention and focused on what people need to reduce hypertension. The program raised awareness on hypertension towards their lives by educating as well as discussing on their risky habits on over consumptions fatty, sugar, salt substances. The successful behavior changes in this program comprised several keys to consider such as: the intervention locations, the closest relationship towards the agent, the agent as frontliner, sustainability of the program, and commitment of all components of intervention.
