Abstract

SMP Amal Mulia is a private junior high school standing in the Klapanuggal in 1999. The school is located in the residential neighborhood residents sunda, many students SMP amal mulia are used to communicating with sundanese therefore Indonesian teacher uses instructional communication strategies to increase students' language skills SMP Amal Mulia. This study reviews Instructional Communication Strategy with Student Teachers in SMP Amal Mulia in Klapanunggal Bogor. The purpose of this study was to analyze the instructional communication strategies used by Indonesian languange teacher to improve students' language skills SMP. Besides analyzing instructional communication strategy, the authors also analyzes the process of message processing, the use of message communication, the use of instructional media and communication techniques and tactics used by Indonesian teacher. This research method is descriptive qualitative, the author explores instructional communication strategies used by Indonesian teacher. Information obtained through observation and depth interviews with key informants and informants. The results of this study illustrate that the instructional communication strategies used by Indonesian teacher is the gift of communication strategies (rewarding) and punishment (punishing). The processing of messages that are used to support the communication is processing messages expressive, conventional, and rhetorical. Media is often used instructional tapes, videos, and training in the language lab. Instructional communication method used is the method of lecture, discussion and question and answer. Techniques and tactics used are small grouping technique and tactical use of communications with elements of humor. This strategy is used because it has received greater attention than other instructional communication strategy

Abstract

Though it was introduced more than fifty years ago at the era of cold war, the term propaganda is still relevant to be discussed and studied further. The purpose of propaganda is still the same – to make the audience or mass receive all kinds of information produced by propagandist without any doubts and hestitations. The practice of propaganda nowadays is not restricted in the war domain but also in any social domains. This study tries to find out how the media use editorial page as a mean of propaganda and what kind of propaganda strategies used. With social semantic approach, it is revealed that the propaganda in media are conduceted in three ways; by creating a field of discourse that oppose the goverment and label it negatively; by involving high-rank tenor of discourse such as the Ministers and Secretary Generals; by applying hiperbolic, rhetoric and ironic mode of discourse to support the field and tenor of discourse. The propaganda strategies used are mostly name calling, glittering generality, bandwagon, and testimonial.

Abstract

Movie is considered as the reflection of reality. Thus, movie is often used as the propaganda tool by some countries, especially America. Through movie, America tries to spread its power and ideology to other countries. This research aims to (1) describe and identifies meanings made by students after watching American heroic movies; (2) find out meanings produced by students toward American he-roic movies. Result shows that students have same perception and meanings to-ward American heroic movies that is they managed to represent America’s hero-ism as the saviour of mankind.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menunjukkan bagaimana perjuangan karakter penderita anorexiadigambarkan dalam Film To The Bone. Penelitian ini menganalisis struktur naratifperjuangan karakter penderita Anorexia yang terdapat dalam film To The Bone denganmenggunakan analisis naratif teori Algirdas Greimas.Analisis dilakukan denganmenarasikan dialog karakter penderita Anorexia dalam film To The Bone laludiidentifikasi ke model aktansial untuk mengetahui masing-masing peran karakternyadan ke model fungsional untuk mengetahui bagaimana alur ceritanya. Metode yangdigunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan metode analisis strukturalnaratif secara deskriptif.Subjek penelitian ini adalah narasi film To The Bone. Objek penelitian ini adalah narasi perjuangan karakter penderita Anorexia dalam film To The Bone. Tokoh-tokoh yang dianalisis adalah Ellen, ibu tiri Ellen, ibu kandung, saudari tiri,dokter, dan teman-teman asrama Ellen.Selain itu juga ada karakter Ayah Ellen yangtidak ditampilkan secara langsung tetapi melalui penggambaran karakternya saja.Hasilpenelitian ini menunjukkan alasan penyebab karakter Ellen mengidap penyakitAnorexia yang berbeda dengan kecenderungan media massa menggambarkan karakterAnorexia pada umumnya. Narasi dalam film ini menggunakan alur cerita majusehingga dengan mudah terlihat narasi perjuangan karakter penderita Anorexia yangmayoritas mengisi fungsi subjek aktan.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menganalisi strategi komunikasi pendidik di Sekolah Alam Bambu Item dalam menghadapi temper tantrum anak berkebutuhan khusus. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori strategi komunikasi menurut Effendy serta teori komunikasi antarpribadi dan psikologi komunikasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisa komunikasi antara pendidik dengan anak murid berkebutuhan khusus di kelas SNC Sekolah Alam Bambu Item dengan fokus utama yaitu bagaimana strategi komunikasi pendidik dalam menghadapi kejadian tantrum anak berkebutuhan khusus. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Library Research, observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pendidik di Sekolah Alam Bambu Item menggunakan strategi komunikasi dalam menghadapi temper tantrum anak berkebutuhan khusus. Strategi komunikasi tersebut dilihat dari tiga komponen yaitu (1) mengenali sasaran komunikasi, (2) penyampaian media komunikasi serta (3) pengkajian tujuan pesan komunikasi. Pendidik menggunakan teknik instruksi dalam melancarkan strategi komunikasi untuk mengurangi temper tantrum.Kata Kunci: strategi komunikasi, anak berkebutuhan khusus, komunikasi antar pribadi.

Abstract

Ketofastosis Indonesia (KFI) adalah sebuah komunitas yang mengusung pola hidup sehat dan berkembang pesat. Salah satu keunikan dari KFI adalah sebutan warrior bagi para penggiat Ketofastosis Lifestyle. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna dari istilah warrior bagi para penggiat ketofastosis lifestyle yang tergabung di dalam grup Whatsapp. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode pengambilan data melalui wawancara mendalam secara langsung dan melalui Whatsapp serta pengamatan interaksi yang terjadi di dalam grup Whatsapp. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat dua kategori warrior yang membedakan posisi atau kedudukan seorang penggiat ketofastosis lifestyle di dalam komunitas. Adapun kedua kategori tersebut adalah warrior pemula dan warrior mentor. Pembedaan kedua kategori didapat berdasarkan orientasi tujuan, pola interaksi dan significant others.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview toward fanboys’ self-disclosure. This study uses a qualitative research method with a case study approach. The present research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Besides interviewing four informants, the researchers describe the forms of self-disclosure they show in social media such as Instagram and WhatsApp status. The results of the present study shows that by becoming K-Pop fans, teenage boys feel happy doing fanboying activities. The informants reveal their identities as fanboys and develop their thoughts and feelings liking the BTS boyband on social media. By posting on social media, these teenage boys say that they feel better and people do not think that being a fanboy is deviant.

Abstract

The development of Islamic Banking both nationally and globally has experienced a significant increase in both the amount of assets managed and their performance. This development is marked by the spread of Islamic banking offices and networks throughout Indonesia. Such development requires the support of human resources who have skills and knowledge related to Sharia-based banking practices as well as able to compete with the global world. In this regard, language skills, especially English language as a global language become important. Nevertheless, there is a dearth in textbooks that specifically teach people how to conduct Sharia banking practices in English. Thus, this research aims to redesign and improve the language skills of employees and prospective employees of Islamic banking through learning plans and learning objectives that suit industry needs. The present study conducted a needs analysis toward employees, lecturers, college alumni, Sharia-based bank guilds. The present study composed a textbook which consists of eight units to teach employees of Sharia-based banks to conduct banking practices in English. The learning materials are also equipped with learning objectives, aiming to improve the language skills of learners.

Abstract

K-Pop (Korean Pop) culture is very popular among Indonesian people, especially children and teenagers. One of the impacts of the popularity of K-Pop is the emergence of role-play accounts. Role-play is a make-believe game that requires players to imitate a K-pop idol. Someone who plays role-play will be called a role-player. We aimed to analyze the differences between how a role-player act in the role-play world and the real world. This research focuses on Telegram role-players. We applied a qualitative netnographic research design and used a dramaturgical theory as a research approach. The results of this study showed that the role-players used Telegram as their front stages where they managed the impressions according to the role-play personas they chose. In addition, the results of this research showed that the direct message features of the role-players’ Telegram accounts are used as their middle stages while the backstage is their real life. The results suggest that each role-player has a different character from their role-play persona, showing the distinctive differences among the front stage, the middle stage and the backstage.

Abstract

Modest fashion has progressed positively in the last two decades. Designers and advertisers are trying to attract modest fashion’s consumers. One of the mediums to promote it is by advertorials. Analyzing words and phrases used in advertorials can help advertisers, practitioners and other concerned parties to understand how advertorials are written. Using Leech’s theory toward meanings, this study aimed to analyze and compare the differences between the advertorials of Muslim women modest clothing and women's clothing from semantic perspective. This study applied a descriptive qualitative approach by analyzing four advertorials of women’s modest, formal, and casual clothing. The results of this study show that the advertorials of modest clothing seem to use a thematic meaning by creating the images of comforted and elegant looking Muslim women in modest clothes. On the other hand, the advertorials of women’s formal and casual clothing look to portray the wearers as sexy and confident women. Although both types of advertorials give meanings with empowering themes, they explore different aspects of empowerment to give understanding toward their potential consumers.
