Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by increased blood glucose levels in the body due to impaired carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism. Symptoms that often appear include polyuria (frequent urination) and polydipsia (frequent thirst) as a sign of lack of insulin in the body. In Indonesia, diabetes sufferers will reach 20.4 million people in 2024, with Palembang ranking as the highest number of cases in South Sumatra. One effective non-pharmacological action is foot massage therapy which helps lower blood glucose levels by increasing peripheral blood circulation and providing a relaxing effect. The design of this study is a case study with an intervention carried out from June 22 to 25, 2026 in the internal medicine inpatient ward of Bhayangkara Mohamad Hasan Hospital Palembang. Therapy is given for 30 minutes every day for three consecutive days to three respondents. After the application of therapy, the results of blood glucose levels in Mrs. N were 214 mg/dl, Mrs. Rm was 220 mg/dl, and Mrs. Rl was 278 mg/dl. The application of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) foot massage has been shown to provide comfort that contributes to blood glucose stability. This therapy is recommended as a non-pharmacological management reference for people with diabetes.
