Abstract

Renewable energy is the primary solution to future energy challenges. Horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWTs) have great potential as a source of clean energy, especially in remote areas. This study aims to optimize the number of HAWT blades to increase the Coefficient of Power (Cp) through simulation and experimental methods. Optimization is done by modifying the angle of attack and the number of blades. Aerodynamic simulations using the QBLADE software were validated through laboratory experiments with small-scale prototypes. The study calculated the harvestable wind energy using the Betz limit (59%) and the Cp range from the previous study (35-45%). The turbine's efficiency is strongly influenced by the number of blades operating based on lift, with the glide ratio being an important parameter. The turbine blade was manufactured using NACA 0020 at the Mechanical Engineering workshop at Khairun University. Testing is carried out in the laboratory to measure the relationship between the number of blades, rotor rotation, and the generator's output power. This process accounts for mechanical, generator, and heat losses. The experimental data is validated by simulation and calculation to formulate the number of blade relationships as design recommendations. Based on analyses of the relationships among Cp, Cm, and TSR, and comparisons with previous studies, the number of wind turbine blades was shown to have a significant effect on aerodynamic efficiency, initial torque, and energy conversion performance. The 2-blade turbine is well-suited to strong winds due to its high efficiency at high TSRs, but it is less stable and has low starting torque. The 6-blade turbine excels at low TSR with ample initial torque, ideal for slow winds and mechanical applications, although its efficiency decreases at high TSR. 3-blade turbines offer the best compromise, making them a top choice in commercial systems.

Abstract

Salah satu faktor penyebab harga minyak mahal, disebabkan karena perkembangan industri otomotif yang begitu pesat. Dimana penggunaan dan BBM cenderung berkembang dari tahun ke tahun. Di dunia industri dan di segala sektor terutama di sektor transportasi, penggunaan dan permintaan bahan bakar minyak terus meningkat, sedangkan cadangan minyak bumi semakin menipis yang secara langsung berakibat pada kenaikan harga minyak dunia. Akibat pada kondisi membuat konsumen memilih BBM alternatif berbeda dengan minyak bumi untuk menghemat konsumsi BBM. Semakin tinggi besaran kendaraan di Indonesia berpengaruh kuat meningkatnya konsumsi BBM, Padahal persediaan minyak bumi semakin menipis. Sebab itu kita harus mendorong untuk menghemat minyak bumi pada BBM, salah satu alat penghemat bahan bakar minyak bumi yaitu elektrolizer HHO, untuk mendapatkan hasil” Brown Gas HHO”. Pada prosesnya gas ialah untuk menambah kalor di dalam bagian pembakaran, keadaan tersebut membuktikan di pengujiannya, ialah menggunkanan penghemat, maka dapat dihemat konsumsi BBM Untuk mengetahui bagaimana penghematan bahan bakar, maka dilakukan pengujian pada sepeda motor, Jenis Jupiter Z2010, yang dilakukan di jalan raya pada kecepatan motor rata-rata 40 km/jam yang dilakukan dengan tanpa penghemat bahan bakar pada jarak tertentu (45 km). Dari hasil uji coba ini diperoleh konsumsi bahan bakar ialah menggunakan alat penghemat bahan bakar rata-rata konsumsi BBM sebesar = 500 ml. sedang tanpa menggunakan alat penghemat bahan bakar. Konsumsi BBM rata-rata sebesar = 770.ml. Kesimpulan pada hasil pengujian bahwa dengan menggunakan alat penghemat bahan bakar diperoleh penghematan sebesar 3 %.

Abstract

The purpose of the service program to redesign the installation of clean water pipelines is to provide new installations and repair clean water distribution pumps that are able to distribute clean water originating from river water in the Toniku Village area so that the water distribution system runs more evenly, both to the reservoir and to the reservoir. the community directly. The implementation of the activity begins with an initial survey to see the condition of the artificial wells and water reservoirs that will be repaired where there are artificial wells installed on the banks of the river. Repairs to the pipe installation are carried out by replacing 2 4-inch pipes so that the flow of water that will enter the reservoir does not suffer losses or is wasted. The initial design before the change was that there were many pipe connections that were installed from the pump to the reservoir so that the water flowing into the reservoir experienced a lot of loss or wasted a lot. From the results of the field review, the electrical capacity to drive the pump is not sufficient because the type of electrical cable connected is not suitable or unable to drive the two pumps. Errors also occur in the installation of capacitors where the pump has a 40 F capacitor type but the one installed is 50 F. For the problem of electricity capacity, the village government has tried to coordinate with PLN to replace the power cable. Abstract

One of the implementations of PKM in 2021 carried out by the Mechanical Engineering study program is the manufacture of MCK, but the construction of MCK sanitation facilities to meet community needs has not been carried out due to the implementation limitations of the PKM program. Sanitation is one of the supporting programs in making MCK. The limited facilities and the behavior of people who use open spaces for defecating, bathing, and others will have an impact on aspects of public health. In this activity, a sanitation distribution from the existing MCK was built; hence water drainage and sewage of The  MCK are not polluted and will be maintained in terms of health. The problems of partners/communities in Takofi village are as follows; disposal of polluted MCK sanitation channels, lack of information about the importance of clean sanitation lines and supporting health aspects, and inadequate MCK sanitation sewer lines. Lack of knowledge of making MCK sanitation lines. The implementation of community service activities, repairing and building sanitation lanes for toilet disposal in Takofi village, Moti sub-district, was carried out for one day. Where the initial stage, the toilets were cleaned, which looked very dirty and were not functioning correctly. After cleaning, the next step is measuring and installing new installation pipes where the old network is no longer working correctly. This pipe installation is also related to another PKM program, namely repairing water wells as a water source to operate this MCK. Abstract

Kelurahan Sasa merupakan Kelurahan yang terletak di dekat kampus UNKHAIR, dengan kondisi tersebut perkembangan usaha kecil menengah (UMKM) semakin pesat seperti pedagang makanan ringan dan rumah makan, sehingga limbah minyak jelantah dari kegiatan dimaksud harus dapat diatasi dengan melakukan pelatihan pemanfaatan minyak jelantah sebagai bahan bakar kompor alternatif. Kelurahan Sasa yang terletak di Kecamatan Ternate Selatan memiliki penduduk yang berprofesi sebagai petani, nelayan, dan pelaku UMKM (Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah). Dari kegiatan usaha tersebut muncul permasalahan lingkungan seperti pembuangan limbah minyak jelantah. Berdasarkan hasil survei, pada pelaksanaan PKM tahun 2023 belum dilakukan kegiatan pelatihan pengelolaan limbah minyak jelantah. Melalui program PKM tahun 2024, pelaksana akan melakukan penguatan terhadap elemen masyarakat dalam pemberdayaan ibu rumah tangga dan remaja putri di Kelurahan Sasa Kecamatan Ternate Selatan dengan melakukan pengolahan limbah minyak jelantah dengan teknologi sederhana dan ramah lingkungan sehingga bermanfaat. Hasil evaluasi pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan di awal (pre-test) dan akhir kegiatan (post-test) menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan tentang pemanfaatan minyak jelantah sebagai bahan bakar kompor alternatif, keberadaan kompor alternatif dengan menggunakan minyak jelantah, prinsip kerja kompor alternatif, tata cara penggunaan kompor alternatif, dan bahan pembuatan kompor alternatif dengan rata-rata sebesar 71,6%.

Abstract

Indonesia termasuk salah satu negara yang mempunyai keragaman etnis terbesar di dunia, dengan 931 suku, 600 bahasa daerah, dan jenis kekayaan budaya lainnya. Permukiman sebagai salah satu hasil fisik kebudayaan masyarakat Indonesia. Peran nilai-nilai solidaritas yang ada pada masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa permukiman etnik tidak terlepas dari pengaruh sosial budaya. Elaborasi bentuk sosial dan budaya ke dalam lingkungan tercermin dari identitas bentuk fisik ruang. Ada saling keterkaitan antara fisik, sosial, dan budaya dalam membentuk morfologi permukiman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi sebaran permukiman etnik yang ada di Ternate, Maluku Utara. Penelitian ini berada dalam paradigma naturalistik. Metode pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan antara lain melalui: survei, observasi, wawancara, fotografi dan skeksa, serta kuisioner. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah triangulasi (triangulation analysis). Adapun temuan dari penelitian ini adalah sebaran permukiman etnik di Ternate. Sedangkan benteng Fort Oranje, Masjid Sultan, dan Kadaton Sultan sebagai pengikat diantara permukiman etnik yang ada di Ternate.

Abstract

Kelurahan Gambesi merupakan wilayah yang terletak di dekat kampus Universitas Khairun. Kondisi ini mendorong perkembangan UMKM, seperti pedagang jajanan dan rumah makan, yang berkembang pesat sehingga menghasilkan limbah minyak jelantah dari kegiatan tersebut. Permasalahan ini perlu diatasi melalui pelatihan pemanfaatan minyak jelantah sebagai bahan bakar untuk kompor alternatif. Melalui program PKM tahun 2024, pelaksana bertujuan untuk memperkuat elemen masyarakat dengan memberdayakan ibu-ibu rumah tangga dan pelaku UMKM di Kelurahan Gambesi, Kecamatan Ternate Selatan, dalam pengolahan limbah minyak jelantah menggunakan teknologi sederhana dan ramah lingkungan sehingga memiliki nilai guna yang optimal. Berdasarkan hasil kuesioner post-test, 100% peserta telah mengetahui atau pernah mendengar tentang pemanfaatan minyak jelantah sebagai bahan bakar, dibandingkan dengan 70% yang sebelumnya belum mengetahuinya. Selain itu, 100% peserta telah mendengar tentang kompor alternatif berbahan bakar minyak jelantah, sedangkan sebelumnya 80% peserta belum mengetahuinya. Sekitar 90% peserta memiliki keinginan untuk menggunakan kompor alternatif, 100% memahami prinsip kerja kompor alternatif, 100% mengetahui prosedur penggunaannya, dan 100% mengetahui bahan-bahan yang diperlukan untuk membuat kompor alternatif.

Abstract

Traditional drying of skipjack jerky is still widely used by MSMEs, but it is highly weather-dependent, prone to contamination, and produces less uniform quality. This research aims to design and test a prototype of an incandescent electric dryer that is simple to operate, provides controlled drying conditions, and is easy to use. The system developed is an insulated cabinet with stainless-steel mesh racks, incandescent light heaters, forced-air circulation, and temperature and humidity sensors, monitored during a 360-minute performance test with sample mass changes. The results showed that the drying chamber temperature remained stable at 43.9–49.3 °C, the relative humidity dropped from about 47% to ±30%, and the jerky mass decreased from ±917 g to ±353 g, with a final moisture content of about 30%. Compared to sun drying, electric dryers provide faster drying rates and more stable drying patterns, making the time to achieve the target moisture content and quality between batches more predictable. These findings show that the prototype is worthy of consideration as an alternative drying technology for seafood processing MSMEs and serves as a basis for further development to improve energy efficiency and product uniformity.
