Abstract

Abstract. Reader's response method is a method of reading text that is corrective to the structuralist method. To some degree, however, the meaning and its usage this method has some flaws. In general understanding, the use of the reader’s response method creates a desire to simply ignore the voices of the author of the text itself. As a result, this may potentially create a long gap between the writer and the reader in a work of finding the meaning. This paper aimed at explaining the conventions of language and of meaning that occur between writers and readers of the text, which is taken from Eric J Douglass' reconciliatory (stabilizing) approach to the author’s voice and reader activity. Reading and writing texts that embrace the side of readers and writers will bring about a more creative and rich meaning.

Abstract

The Pentecostal academic community is responsible for echoing Pentecostal theology and spirituality for the local congregation. However, the courage and ability to carry out this responsibility must continue to be improved through training and mentoring. This activity aims to increase the inventory of Pentecostalism discourse for Pentecostal and Ecumenical scholars through the implementation of a dissertation seminar in the Pentatalk program by the Association of Indonesian Pentecostal/Charismatic Scholars (Aspenkris). Dissertation studies from Pentecostal academics will strengthen their identity as Pentecostalists for teachers. The implementation method is an educational webinar through the Zoom meeting platform. The activity results show that, firstly, providing a broad discourse and discourse on pentecostalism both in Indonesia and abroad must be carried out immediately. Second, this activity can reduce the stigma and understanding of Pentecostalism, which is dwells on the Holy Spirit alone. Third, this activity establishes and increases the dialogue between Pentecostalism and ecumenicalism, which is still minimal among theologians and ecclesiastical practitioners.

Abstract

The need for pastoral assistance and counseling is increasingly being felt in various sectors of society, both Christian and non-Christian. The economic, social, and political crisis, which resulted in crises in other fields, including health, education, and morals, made a crisis that had a widespread impact in Indonesia. This has triggered the community's need for pastoral care and counseling. This works to help them through an interactive, reciprocal, and in-depth conversation to find the core of the problem and lead to a solution. However, for this interaction to occur, hospitality practices are undoubtedly needed so that the counselee is willing to be involved and open up. The purpose of this study was to examine the concept of hospitality as the first step in the presence of pastoral assistance and counseling in times of crisis for Christians. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that Christian hospitality requires counselors to have empathy and openness to counselees while sharpening their ability to carry out congregational counseling. Without it, the congregation will remain in a depressed and stressed existence due to the crisis they are facing.

Abstract

This article describes Christian therapeutic counseling that can help make the counseling process effective. The purpose of Christian therapeutic counseling is not only to want someone to experience recovery from the problem, but above all, the result of the counseling is that the counselee experiences the likeness of Christ who healed him. To get to that stage, one must start with a change in life because one has been freed, freed, recovered, and has personally met God and experienced the likeness of Christ. This can be called unique counseling, maximizing results and shortening time. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The study's results stated that Therapeutic counseling impacts the process of believers becoming in the image and likeness of God.  Counselors must synergize with other fields with different gifts, including the local Church, discipleship team, mission, and pastoral because synergy helps perfect a counselee's recovery and shorten the time.

Abstract

Abstract

Having a different world in virtual reality is nothing new. However, the rapid development of such a world, often known as the metaverse, has caught many peoples’ attention, including believers. Even in its earliest stage of development, the metaverse has already attracted many interested stakeholders and investors as it promises to open up many possibilities and offers many other opportunities. Of course, it does not come without any negative aspects. Yet, like any previous technological advancements, one should assess its weight to determine the appropriate response. This paper addresses whether the metaverse should be seen as a threat or an opportunity, especially by the church. The authors hope that this writing will help the church realize this coming world in the near future and prepare as soon as possible to anticipate this revolutionary disruption. Hopefully, The church can provide spiritual care for the “real” people behind and within this virtual reality. AbstrakKonsep tentang adanya dunia virtual bukanlah suatu hal baru.

Abstract

In Keri Day's examination of the Azusa Street Revival, this abstract captures a nuanced analysis of its historical, theological, and critical dimensions. Day reveals Azusa Street as a radical, counter-cultural space challenging America's racial-capitalist order. The movement's spiritual practices, including speaking in tongues and healing, subverted segregation, offering belonging in an era where it was denied to black individuals. Azusa's critique extended to America's racial-capitalist system, emphasizing egalitarian leadership and gender equality. The study explores Azusa's disruptive impact on the racist and capitalist erotic landscape, highlighting its transformative power. It underscores the movement's dilution in modern Pentecostalism and urges scholars to investigate contemporary experiences within racial capitalism's context, addressing enduring structural racism in the face of emerging neo-capitalism.

Abstract

Christian leadership must adapt to global changes and contemporary challenges by integrating the principles of Jesus Christ's leadership. Jesus' incarnational leadership model, which focuses on service, humility, and inclusivity, can provide relevant solutions amid global crises such as pandemics and economic instability. The philosophy of inclusive, transparent, flexible, and sustainable meeting rooms is an analogy for developing effective Christian leadership. Christian leaders must ensure inclusivity, transparency, and their congregations' emotional and spiritual well-being, utilizing technology to support effective communication. By applying these principles, Christian leaders can face global challenges with integrity and justice, bringing positive change to the lives of their congregations and society at large. Abstract

This research explores the prophetic role within the Pentecostal tradition as a catalyst for social and political engagement, emphasizing responses to contemporary crises such as social inequality, and political authoritarianism. The research examines the biblical foundations of prophecy in both the Old and New Testaments, highlighting the dual nature of prophecy—foretelling and forth-telling—and its implications for justice, compassion, and truth. The study aims to understand how Pentecostal interpretation of prophetic roles inspires civic participation among believers in the context of modern global crises. Through theological literature review and case studies of Pentecostal engagement, the research seeks to uncover how the call for social involvement is interpreted and lived out within Pentecostal communities, addressing questions of how Pentecostalism's dynamic spirituality and emphasis on the Holy Spirit empower believers for transformative social action. The anticipated contribution is both academic and practical, aiming to stimulate further discussion within Pentecostal communities on the role of faith in public life and the potential of religious beliefs to drive positive social change in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
