Abstract

On-street parking facilities are crucial elements in urban transportation systems. However, the imbalance between spatial capacity and high demand volume frequently causes traffic delays. This study aims to analyze the operational characteristics and behavioral architecture dynamics at the parking facility in front of Citimall Gorontalo. The research uses a mixed-methods approach (qualitative and quantitative) through structured observation, interviews, and documentation. Spatial data analysis applies a behavioral mapping approach encompassing place-centered mapping, person-centered mapping, and physical trace. The results indicate that the parking area is divided into four segments. Segment 2 recorded the highest accumulation rate, exceeding normal capacity (overcapacity). This is driven by user preferences oriented towards the closest distance to the main gate. This concentration triggers search circulation, which reduces through-traffic speed and causes bottlenecks during peak hours. In conclusion, circulation performance degradation is heavily influenced by user behavioral adaptation, operator activities, and the absence of geometric markings.

Abstract

Tourism is a potential sector in supporting regional development, with adequate facilities and infrastructure as essential factors to ensure visitor comfort. Dionumo Island in Gorontalo possesses attractive natural resources; however, its tourism facilities, particularly accommodations, remain limited. This study aims to design Dionumo Cottage as a tourist accommodation facility using a tropical architecture approach, emphasizing climate adaptation, harmony with nature, and the use of appropriate forms, functions, and materials. The research employs a qualitative method through observation, interviews, and literature studies from various sources. The collected data were analyzed to identify tourist needs, site conditions, and applicable principles of tropical architecture. The design results indicate that applying tropical architecture to Dionumo Cottage can provide environmentally integrated accommodation facilities, enhance tourist comfort, and contribute to sustainable tourism development in Gorontalo.

Abstract

Coconut is a viral economic commodity for Indonesians due to its abundant yield. In Gorontalo, there also vast coconut plantations; however, the production of the commodity has not been optimized. Therefore, the design of the Coconut Center aims to maximize the potential of the coconut by accommodating three classified activities: primary, secondary, and supporting. The primary activity involves educational toirism. The supporting activities include management and other facilities that assiist the primary and secondary functions. The study employed three main data collection techniques; interview, direct observation, and literatura review. The design process involved collecting relevant data, identifying problems, defining design goals, and compiling theoretical frameworks to support architectural planning. The resulting analysis is then transformed into a Green architecture design concept. This concept  serves as a guideline for designing the Coconut Center in Gorontalo.
