Abstract

This article discusses the Peace Creative Tourism Village as a peaceful tourism destination to build peace between religions and beliefs in Indonesia. This study is motivated by the rise of identity politics after the collapse of the New Order in 1998. The rise of identity politics has triggered several inter-ethnic and religious conflicts in several regions in Indonesia. Conflicts between the Dayak tribes and Madurese migrants occurred in Kalimantan in early February 2001, Christian and Muslim conflicts in Posso in 1998, and Ambon in 1999. The state has made various efforts to maintain peace between ethnic and religions in Indonesia, but intolerance, even inter-ethnic and religious conflicts, still occur in plural Indonesia. This study discusses an alternative effort to build peace between religions and beliefs through tourist destinations. This research uses a case study qualitative method. This study found that the Peace Creative Tourism Village of Srumbung Mountain, with its tour packages: peace education, live-in, and traditional culinary and cultural festivals, can be a local contribution to building peace between religions and beliefs in Indonesia.

Abstract

Information and communication technology (ICT) has become the backbone of various industrial sectors. There are many applications that can be offered to solve computer repair problems remotely and Remote Desktop and TeamViewer applications are two of them. Dharma Siswa Karawaci Vocational School is committed to preparing graduates who are ready to work and highly competitive in the industrial world. The PKM of Postgraduate Program in Informatics Engineering, Pamulang University-UNPAM conducted an innovative workshop on Remote Desktop and TeamViewer on October 19, 2024. A survey showed they are satisified to participate in the workshop. Student participants can improve the skills of the Vocational School students in mastering Remote Desktop and TeamViewer technology for solving problems and managing networks remotely. The workshop will provide practical experience that suits the current needs of the IT industry, through direct training and simulations. Considering that the workshop only takes a few hours, the student participants of the workshop can continue their training not only at the school or at home, but also can communicate with the Team of S2 TI UNPAM. If necessary, the follow-up workshops can be carried out either offline or online.

Abstract

The transformation of the latest Indonesian curriculum led to inevitable schemes, including the establishment of an activator teachers’ program. It is expected that teachers of better quality are produced in support of the aims of students' learning abilities, including critical thinking. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, this study is conducted to find the profiles and practices of EFL activator teachers. It involves 37 EFL activator teachers in East Java. While questionnaires are used to find the profiles of activator teachers, semi-structured interviews and observations are conducted to reveal how best EFL activator teachers implement critical thinking in the classroom. The findings show that activator teachers in general have a strong positive perception toward critical thinking in everyday classrooms; they also have medium practices of critical thinking teaching. Further investigation reveals that activator teachers do share a great amount of awareness in critical thinking. There are 4 strategies used by the teachers in prompting critical thinking; they are questioning, project/problem-based, group work, and the use of students’ feedback or reflection. The study implies the need for strengthened professional development to bridge the gap between teachers’ awareness and actual classroom practices in promoting critical thinking.

Abstract

This study presents the design and evaluation of a fully local, hybrid ensemble Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system tailored for Indonesian legal consultation. By integrating sparse (BM25), dense (FAISS), and keyword-aware retrieval mechanisms, the system balances lexical, semantic, and domain-specific relevance to retrieve high-quality legal context. A curated dataset of 8,450 legal consultation articles was scraped from a trusted legal platform, cleaned through multi-stage pre-processing, and indexed for efficient retrieval. Retrieved documents are formatted into structured prompts and fed into locally hosted large language models (LLMs) using Ollama, allowing for complete offline operation. Experiments comparing five retrieval configurations TF-IDF, BM25, FAISS, ensemble BM25+FAISS, and ensemble with keyword boosting demonstrate that the hybrid ensemble with keyword boosting yields the most relevant and grounded answers. Both quantitative (retrieval score analysis) and qualitative (manual relevance rating) evaluations were performed, confirming the effectiveness of the ensemble strategy in improving answer quality. Additionally, the system achieves practical response times (12–20 seconds) on consumer-grade hardware without reliance on cloud services. This work makes a novel contribution by demonstrating that a hybrid ensemble retrieval framework, specifically tuned to the linguistic characteristics and retrieval challenges of Indonesian legal texts, can significantly enhance the performance of local RAG-based legal QA systems. Future directions include real-time indexing, fine-tuning of legal-domain LLMs, and extending the system to support other legal domains such as statutory law, regulations, and court rulings.
