Abstract

The purpose of this study is to calculate the number of water needs of the cucumber using a mixture of soil and wood charcoal in the polyester and to examine how a mixture of wood - based media has affected the growth of the cucumber. The study was designed to use a complete random with three experiments of land proportions and charcoal, and one control treatment without charcoal, treatment A (soil : charcoal 4:1), treatment of B (soil : charcoal 3:2), treatment of C (soil : charcoal 2 : 2), the treatment of K (control soil without charcoal) with 4 replications for each treatment, making the number of experiments 16. Research shows that the variant analysis of the amount of irrigation water used during the growth of cucumber plants from treating soil and charcoal to an average of A (4:1) = 10,035.33 ml r; B (3:2) = 10,698.33 ml; C (2 :2) = 11,060 ml; And K (without charcoal) = 8,716.67 ml, it turns out there is a significant difference between treatment. As for the growth of the plant and the growth of the fruit yield no significant difference. The use of wood charcoal as a medium to grow has a bearing on the formation of a cucumber.

Abstract

This research aims to design and test a soybean epidermis peeling machine that is cost-effective, efficient, and suitable for small-scale farmers in remote areas. The research process involved designing, manufacturing, and technical testing of the TETA-II model soybean peeler. The data collected during the research was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the TETA-II model soybean peeler has an average working capacity of 43 kg/hr at an engine speed of 2450-2550 (rpm) with a soybean soaking period of 6 hours. The highest yield from the peeler was achieved at a soybean soaking time of 8 hours (95.955%) and 6 hours (94.02%) at rpm 2450-2550. In future studies about the machine, to improve its efficiency, the scrubber roll system should be adjusted to regulate the stability of the fall of the soybeans being peeled, and the inner walls must be coated with plastic.

Abstract

Abstract

This research uses a descriptive method by collecting data through field surveys, interviews and image analysis. The research results show that the Makansar irrigation network in Kema Satu Village consists of one main weir and three supply channels. The Makansar Satu Dam (BM I) irrigation channel is 3,129.53 ms long with a service area of 11.42 hectares. The Water Suplesi Satu (AS I) canal has a length of 1,885.36 ms and a service area of 10.22 hectares, the Water Suplesi Two irrigation canal (AS II) has a length of 544.26 and a service area of 1.77 hectares, the Water Suplesi Three irrigation canal ( AS III) has a length of 1,878.8 and a service area of 6.88 hectares. There are around 33 buildings along the irrigation canal, including 1 building, 24 tapping buildings, 7 complementary buildings, 1 tertiary box, and 1 spillway building. The condition of the network and buildings still requires a lot of technical treatment and a decline in the quality of services at the old weir, the growth of wild plants on the irrigation embankment, the presence of sedimentation and complementary buildings that are not utilized properly as water conservation efforts. The Makasar irrigation area (DI) has a P3A institution. The results of measuring the water discharge in the BM I Channel, the inflow was 0.23 m3/second and the outflow was 0.09 m3/second and the water loss was 0.14 m3/second. Measurements in the Channel (AS I) inflow were 0.07 m3/second and outflow 0.07 m3/second. Channel measurements (AS III) showed an inflow value of 0.03 m3/second and an outflow of 0.02 m3/second and water loss of 0.01 m3/second.

Abstract

Many coconut husks in coconut-producing área have not been maximally utilized, especially on a small scale for farmers. It happened due to the difficulty of obtaining simple small-scale coconut decomposing machines, and the region must import it from other regions. As a result, the utilization of coconut fiber in fiber and cocopeat is still minimal. Plus, when bringing in from outside, the logistics cost of the coconut husk decomposing machine is still high. This research aims to conduct a techno-economic analysis of a small-scale coconut husk decomposer from the machine designed and made. The research method was using the experimental method. The results showed that the equipment can produce cocofiber and cocopeat with 600 kg of husk per day for 6 hours of use. The results of economic calculations based on the IRR value, the net B/C ratio, and the payback period show that this machine is feasible to be developed on a small scale for Farmer groups. Technologically, this machine is simple and relatively easy to operate. Further research hopes this machine will prove its durability over long, heavy work periods.

Abstract

Macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia) is a high-value crop not widely known in Indonesia and still processed using conventional shelling methods that are time-consuming and inefficient. This study aimed to design and evaluate the PTR-TETA20 macadamia nut sheller to improve post-harvest efficiency. The research was conducted from May to July 2024 at the Faculty of Agriculture, Sam Ratulangi University. The methodology involved the design, construction, and performance testing of the machine using experimental methods and descriptive data analysis. The PTR-TETA20, measuring 30 × 23 × 113 cm and powered by a 1/4 HP motor with a pulley and V-belt system at 1467 RPM, was tested using 1 kg of macadamia nuts in three repetitions. The average working capacity reached 38.43 kg/hour, with a yield of 92.52%. Nut integrity was recorded as 40.22% whole, 36.10% halved, and 23.66% broken. Moisture content was 2.6% (whole), 2.56% (halved), 2.83% (broken), and 9.52% (shells). The results indicate that PTR-TETA20 offers a practical shelling solution for small-scale producers. However, machine performance can be improved by optimizing roller spacing and ensuring uniform nut drying.
