This research pays special attention to the character analysis in the novel Pride and Prejudice, especially the two main characters, namely Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy. In accordance with theories explaining types of character and characterization, the data were carefully analyzed. The analysis focuses on how the characterization of Pride and Prejudice’s two main characters is realized. The aim of this research is to explore characterization of the main characters that is expected to contribute to the study of literature, particularly the existence of characters in the novel. Qualitative method was applied in the analysis. There were two main characters involved in the story, and many data were found to support the analysis of their characterization. Dialogues and narration in the novel were used to introduce the characterization based on three dimensions of characterization. This study found that three dimensions of characterization, including psychological, sociological, and physiological aspects of characterization could be used to make complete and vivid description of the main characters to share the values and message of the story.

The present research focuses on flouting maxim in Bohemian Rhapsody movie. The aim of this research is to find out the types of flouting maxim found in Bohemian Rhapsody movie. The data were taken from the Bohemian Rhapsody movie that has been downloaded and they are collected through observation and taking note technique. In this research, the researcher focused on the theory of Grice (1975) in analysing the type of flouting maxims. The descriptive qualitative method was used in analysing the data found in this research. In analysing the data, the researcher used the theory from Grice (1975) about Logic and conversation. Based on Grice theory (1975) “flouting maxims belong to the form of non-observe conversation principle”. The result of the research shows that the types of flouting maxim found in the movie are 44 data. The dominant flouting maxim did by the characters in this movie is the flouting maxim of manner with the frequency of 15 data (34%), following by flouting maxim of quality with frequency of 12 data (27%), next is flouting maxim of quantity with frequency 9 data (21%), and the last one flouting the maxim of relevance which is the type of flouting maxim that occurs the least in this Bohemian Rhapsody movie with a frequency of 8 data (18%). From the data that has been got in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie, the character who does the most flouting the maxim is the main character in this movie, Freddie Mercury did all types of floating the maxim. This thesis uses Three Aspects of Personality in Psychological, Id, Ego and Super-Ego”. This research aims to identify and explain how the main character surfaces the three aspects of personality in psychological Thor Ragnarok movie. The theory used is from Sigmund Freud theory of Psychoanalysis. Qualitative method is used to analyze the data. The researcher found the psychological dimensions of the main character, such as the id, the ego, and the superego. Thor’s id was shown in his ambition to revenge his sister who has kicked him from Asgard and disrupted life in Asgard. Thor’s ego was shown when he didn’t believe if his hammer could be destroyed because he only knows if his hammer was the strongest. Thor’s super-ego or the moral strength was shown when Thor had nightmares every night that he saw Asgard fall into ruins.

This research entitled An Analysis of Conflict Managements used by Félicie in the Movie Leap! (2016) aims to analyze types of conflict management used by the main character to overcome the conflict in the movie Ballerina/Leap. The data source of this research is the movie Leap! (2016) which was published in 2016 as the result of the collaboration of Quad Production, Caramel Film, and Main Journey in 2016 and directed by Eric Warin and Eric summer. The data is was collected through documentation method, by Watching the movie repeatedly, and then the data is identified and selected the data that is used in this research. The collected data is analyzed qualitatively and presented descriptively. A theory that is used in this research is proposed by Rahim (2002) about conflict management. Based on the research, it shows that all types of conflict management proposed by the expert are used by Félicie, the main character in this movie Leap! (2016). There are five occurrences in total, namely Integrating, Obliging, Dominating, Avoiding, and Compromising.

The film Friends with Benefits is the data source in this study. In collecting the data through library research by viewing films, reading scripts, and taking notes. In analyzing the data, the qualitative method is used and presented descriptively based on the theory adopted in this study. The theory used in this study is the theory of literature proposed by Wellek and Warren (1949) about characterization. The results of this study showed that only three characterization dimensions were analyzed. In presenting these dimensions, this study presents an overview and/or dialogue from the film. There are three dimensions of the characterization of the main character analyzed in this study: physiological, sociological, and psychological. These physical and psychological characteristics combine to build up Jamie Rellis and Dylan Harper, a romantic person in the film Friends with Benefits.

This research entitled “Type of Deixis in The Song Lyrics of Ariana Grande’s thank u, next Album”. Deixis is an expression in language that in used to point who to person deixis, where to place deixis, and when to time deixis. The objectives in this research is to find out and identify types of deixis in the song lyrics of Ariana Grande’s thank u, next Album. Documentation method is used in collecting the data using listening, reading and note taking techniques. Qualitative method is used to analyze the data by using descriptive language for explaining the data. The result of this research shows that all types of deixis are found in the song lyrics of Ariana Grande’s thank u, next album which include person deixis, spatial deixis, temporal deixis, social deixis and discourse deixis. This research found the occurrences of 550 person deixis (81%), 109 temporal deixis (9%), 7 discourse deixis (1%), 32 spatial deixis (7%), and 19 social deixis (9%).

This study is to find out the types of external conflict faced by the main character in the pound comic on webtoon, and to handle the conflict with five style management strategies faced by the main character in the pound comic on webtoon. The data sources of this study were taken from webtoon. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The data were analyzed based on the theory proposed by Kenney (1966), about types of conflict and the supporting theory proposed by Thomas and Kilmann (1970), about conflict management strategy. The result of this study showed the source of external conflict happened in the comic, there are man against man and man against society. The conflict also identified the strategy used by the main character in the pound comic on webtoon to handle the external conflict such as, competing, collaborating, compromising, accommodating, and avoiding.

This study entitled “Psychological Analysis of The Main Character as Influenced by External Conflicts in the Movie Entitled “Gone Girl”. It is focused on psychological condition of the character as influenced by external conflicts. The aims of this study are to find out the types of external conflicts faced by the main character and to analyze the effect of those external conflicts that the main character faced to her psychological condition as found in the movie entitled “Gone Girl”. This study used theories from Stantont (1956) and Koesnosoebroto (1988) to find out the types of external conflicts and Bernhardt (1953) to analyze the psychological aspect of the main character. Descriptive and qualitative methods were used to analyze the data while observation methods were used to collect the data. The result found that there are 33 external conflicts and 16 internal conflicts faced by the character and in this study the writer will focused on analyzing the external conflicts faced by the main character in Gone Girl movie that influenced her psychological condition.

When writing a piece of art work called poetry, the poets often utilize figurative language to express their ideas and feelings. Figurative language will beautify the poetry of which the readers will put their interests. Typically, figurative language in a poem includes paradox to emphasize the poem’s meaning. This research focuses on types and meaning of paradox in the Rudyard Kipling’s selected poem. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method in analyzing the figure of speech in Rudyard Kipling’s selected poems. The research found 17 (seventeen) of paradoxes consist of 7 (seven) rhetorical paradox, 7 (seven) social paradox, 2 (two) logical paradox and 1 (one) philosophy of science paradox. The rhetorical and social paradoxes are the most current paradoxes in Kipling's poem, according to the research on paradox in the poem. The notion of each phrase to which they belong, as well as the meaning of the paradox, are used to define the interpretations of paradox. In Kipling's poem, paradox was exploited to make lines more colourful, inventive, and meaningful. These are there to bring clarity, colour, and persuasion to the novel.

The study aims to find out and analyze the meaning of every type of figurative language in the song lyrics. Figurative language is a language style used by the writer or speaker to convey a message imaginatively and in a mode which aims to make the reader get effect from language style. The data in this research were analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods and based on the linguistic theory that is used in semantics. This study proposes two of problem those are, first what types of figurative language and second what is the meaning of the figurative language used in Ariana Grande’s song lyrics. To get the meaning of those figurative languages, several expert theories were used for this research on the classification and definition of figurative language. There are two theories that were used in conducting this research. This first theory of types of figurative language is proposed by the expert, Knickerbocker and Reninger and the second theory of figurative language and the types of meaning theories by Leech.
