Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a chronic condition that requires routine and continuous hemodialysis therapy. Patient adherence to hemodialysis at RSUD Menggala is crucial to prevent complications and improve quality of life. Various factors are suspected to influence adherence, including environmental factors, educational instruments/media, and individual factors. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between environmental, instrument, and individual factors and adherence to hemodialysis therapy among CKD patients at RSUD Menggala in 2025. Methods: This study used a quantitative analytical cross-sectional design to examine the relationship between healthcare professionals’ educational interventions and adherence to hemodialysis therapy among stage 5 CKD patients at RSUD Menggala in 2025. Data were collected from 84 respondents using structured questionnaires and analyzed using Chi-square and logistic regression tests with SPSS version 26 to identify factors associated with adherence to hemodialysis therapy. Results: The majority of respondents showed moderate to high adherence to hemodialysis therapy. Bivariate analysis revealed significant associations between environmental factors (p=0.004), educational instruments (p=0.003), and individual factors (p<0.001) with adherence. Patients with supportive environments, adequate educational media, and positive individual characteristics were more likely to adhere to therapy. Multivariate analysis showed that individual factors were the most dominant determinant (p=0.001; OR=12.308), indicating that patients with favorable individual factors had more than twelve times higher likelihood of adherence compared to those with unfavorable factors. Conclusion: Individual factors play the most significant role in improving adherence to hemodialysis therapy among CKD patients at RSUD Menggala.

Abstract

Background: East Lampung is an endemic area for filariasis. Survey results since 2004, showing Sekampung and Sekampung Udik sub-districts, indicate a microfilaria rate of filariasis above 1%. In 2024, 11 chronic filariasis patients were found. This research aims to analyze the influence of living habits, mosquito breeding sites, family support, the role of health workers, and the role of community leaders on the incidence of filariasis. Methods: This research type is quantitative with a case-control design. The research sample consisted of 44 respondents. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data collection methods included interviews and observations using questionnaires and observation sheets as guidelines. Data analysis consisted of univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. Results: Bivariate analysis showed the influence of living habits (p-value 0.043), mosquito breeding sites (p-value 0.004), family support (p-value 0.035), the role of health workers (p-value 0.027), and the role of community leaders (p-value 0.019) on the incidence of filariasis. Multivariate analysis revealed that living habits dominantly influence the incidence of filariasis with a p-value of 0.011. Conclusions: There is an influence of lifestyle habits on the incidence of filariasis, mosquito breeding, family support, the role of health workers, the role of community leaders on the incidence of filariasis in East Lampung Regency with the most influential variable, namely lifestyle habits, which dominantly affect the incidence of filariasis in East Lampung Regency.

Abstract

Background: Hepatitis B remains a global health problem that can progress to cirrhosis and liver cancer. Nurses face elevated occupational exposure through contact with patients’ blood and body fluids, making vaccination compliance essential, yet completion rates among health workers remain suboptimal. This study aimed to determine the relationship between Health Belief Model (HBM) components and Hepatitis B vaccination compliance among nurses at RSUD H.M. Ryacudu Kotabumi, North Lampung, in 2026. Methods: This analytic quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. A sample of 105 nurses was selected through proportionate stratified random sampling from a population of 173 nurses. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire adapted from validated HBM instruments and analyzed univariately, bivariately using the Chi-square/Fisher Exact test, and multivariately using multiple logistic regression. Results: Among the 105 respondents, 71 (67.6%) were compliant with Hepatitis B vaccination. Bivariate analysis showed significant associations between compliance and perceived susceptibility (p=0.003), perceived severity (p<0.001), perceived benefits (p<0.001), perceived barriers (p<0.001), cues to action (p<0.001), and self-efficacy (p<0.001). Multivariate analysis identified perceived benefits as the most dominant factor (p=0.003; OR=13.63; 95% CI 2.39–77.71), followed by self-efficacy (p=0.007; OR=12.44) and perceived barriers (p=0.004; OR=0.09). Conclusion: HBM components are associated with Hepatitis B vaccination compliance among nurses, with perceived benefits as the most dominant determinant. Hospitals should prioritize strengthening nurses’ understanding of vaccination benefits through targeted health education, workplace policy support, and continuous promotion to improve occupational vaccination coverage.
