Abstract

Work fatigue is a common problem among healthcare workers and can affect their performance and safety. Data shows that most nurses in Indonesia experience work stress due to high workloads and limited rest periods. This study aims to determine the factors associated with work fatigue among nurses in the inpatient ward of Nene Mallomo Pangkajene Hospital, Sidenreng Rappang Regency, in 2023. This study used a quantitative, cross-sectional design. The sample size was 79 nurses, determined using the Slovin formula. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test to assess relationships among variables. The results showed a relationship between work shifts and work fatigue (p = 0.000), while there was no relationship between workload and work fatigue (p = 0.813). This study concludes that work shifts are associated with work fatigue among nurses, whereas workload is not. Therefore, it is recommended that nurses make optimal use of rest periods, and hospitals should pay attention to work scheduling arrangements to reduce the risk of work fatigue.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease transmitted through the bite of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes and remains a public health problem in various endemic areas. Vector control is an important strategy in preventing DHF, including through the use of botanical larvicides that are more environmentally friendly than chemical larvicides. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of beluntas leaf extract (Pluchea indica Linn.) in killing Aedes aegypti larvae. This study is a quasi-experimental study with three variations in beluntas leaf extract concentration, namely 10%, 20%, and 30%. Each treatment was repeated three times, with 20 Aedes aegypti larvae per replication. Observations were made every hour for 24 hours to determine the number of larvae deaths. The results showed that Beluntas leaf extract at 10% concentration caused 80% larval mortality within 5 hours. At a concentration of 20%, larval mortality reached 80% within 3 hours, while a concentration of 30% was able to cause larval mortality of 85% within 1 hour. These results indicate that the higher the concentration of the extract used, the faster and greater the level of larval mortality. It can be concluded that the extract of beluntas leaves (Pluchea indica Linn.) is effective as a botanical larvicide against Aedes aegypti larvae, with a concentration of 30% showing the highest effectiveness. Beluntas leaf extract has the potential to be developed as an environmentally friendly, relatively safe alternative for controlling dengue vectors.

Abstract

Students who attend informal education centers generally come from families with low socioeconomic backgrounds, which makes them vulnerable to psychosocial problems such as stress, anxiety, and low self-confidence. Furthermore, inadequate nutritional intake risks leading to nutritional status issues such as chronic energy deficiency (CED) and underweight. These psychosocial and nutritional issues can directly impact children's health, development, and academic achievement. Therefore, integrated efforts are needed to improve their psychological well-being and nutritional status. The solutions offered in this community service activity are community nursing interventions and nutritional health interventions. The nursing approach is implemented to support students' mental health through activities such as group counseling, social skills training, and strengthening peer support. Meanwhile, the nutritional health approach is implemented through balanced nutrition education, training in preparing menus based on local foods, and providing nutritious supplementary feeding (PMT). A participatory approach was used, including educational sessions, practical demonstrations, and assessments through pre- and post-tests. The results showed significant improvements, with knowledge increasing from 35% to 95%, positive attitudes from 35% to 85%, and practical skills from 27% to 90%. Outputs included scientific publications, educational videos, posters, and enhanced cadre competencies. The program provided sustainable benefits by empowering students to promote health within their community and contributed to university performance indicators through active involvement of students and faculty. Overall, the program successfully achieved its objectives, with recommendations for continued support and collaboration to sustain and expand its impact.

Abstract

Hypertension in adolescents refers to blood pressure that exceeds the normal range of 120/80 mmHg. To enhance early detection, it is essential to promote routine blood pressure checks at the nearest health service, preferably starting in the early morning. Several factors contribute to hypertension in adolescents, including sleep quality, diet (food intake), and smoking behavior. Hypertension in adolescents should receive serious attention. This study aims to determine the incidence of hypertension in adolescents and identify several factors related to this incidence among students at SMA Angkasa in Maros Regency. This type of research uses a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling in this study used simple random sampling with a sample size of 85 students. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The results of this study show that univariate analysis in grade X students of SMA Angkasa, Maros Regency, shows that sleep quality, diet, and smoking are associated with the incidence of hypertension. Bivariate analysis of sleep quality on hypertension shows that there is a relationship of ρ value 0.000 α ˂ (0.05), eating patterns on sleep quality in students with hypertension shows that there is a relationship of ρ value 0.012 α ˂ (0.05), and smoking behavior on sleep quality in students with hypertension shows that there is a relationship of ρ value 0.041 α ˂ (0.05).
