Abstract

An Analytical Study Of Managers' Efforts In The Realisation Of Strategic Planning Of RSUD Kabupaten Empat Lawang Through The Balanced Scorecard Approach. Although strategic planning has been prepared in such a way as to choose the best approach, in practice, many managers have difficulty realising the plan. This study aims to analyse the steps and efforts in realising strategic planning at RSUD Empat Lawang Regency through the BSC approach. The method used is a case study through SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat). Data were obtained through a document review of the hospital's profile and achievements. The data were then analysed for external and internal situations using the SWOT method, then inputted into the Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) matrix and External Factor Evaluation (EFE) matrix to be given weight and scale, and determined the position of the organisation through the Internal-External (IE) matrix. Then strategies were formulated through Threat, Opportunity, Weakness, and Strength (TOWS) followed by the determination of Balanced Scorecard (BSC) perspectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The results of the analysis show that the RSUD is in cell IV, which means that the RSUD is best controlled with a growth and build strategy so that 10 targets are obtained along with the manager's efforts in realisation which include measuring Value For Money, collaborating with other parties, developing innovations and preparing education and training plans. The managers' efforts in this study can be used as a reference in evaluating the realisation of strategic plans in health service organisations.

Abstract

Abstract

Medication errors have been a persistent issue in healthcare, often overshadowing nurses' ability to focus on patient care. Traditionally, nurses have devoted considerable time to calculating medications—dosages, routes, and frequencies—at the expense of other caregiving duties. This literature review explores the adoption of electronic-based systems to reduce medication errors and associated risks in healthcare settings. The research involved examining databases such as Clinical-key-nursing, Science Direct, ProQuest, Embase, and academic articles, using keywords like "medication error" and "electronic-based system." The findings suggest that electronic systems can mitigate harms linked to medication errors by ensuring compliance with the "10 rights of medication administration," which include the right patient, drug, dose, time, route, documentation, assessment, approach, drug interaction, and information. The review analyzed 19 articles, but only ten met the inclusion criteria. The results indicate a positive correlation between the use of electronic systems and a decrease in medication errors, highlighting the potential benefits of technology in enhancing patient safety and care efficiency.

Abstract

Nurse competence becomes an important part that must be considered in carrying out nursing care for patients, in order to achieve patient satisfaction. Nurses' competencies in conducting assessments, nursing interventions and communication in patients on outpatient care still need to be improved. Outpatient Hospital Dr. Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi still stated unsatisfied with nurse interactions. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nurse competency and outpatient satisfaction on nursing care. The design of this study uses descriptive correlation with a cross sectional approach. The total sample of 295 outpatients was taken purposively. The instrument used was a modification of the PSNCS (Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care Scale) and NSNS (Newcastle Satisfacton to Nursing Scale). Data analysis using Spearman Correlation. Patient satisfaction is at the middle level (Mean = 33 in the score 12 - 60), while the mean for nurse competence is 12.39. The results of this study indicate a significant relationship between nurse competence and patient satisfaction (p value = 0,0001) and r value = +0,500, which means showing a directional relationship. The value of the determinant coefficient (r2) is 0.25, which means that nurse competence can explain patient satisfaction by 25%. This shows that the higher the competence possessed by a nurse in outpatient care, the higher the patient's satisfaction in nursing services. It is expected that nurses can improve their competence so that satisfaction and quality of nursing services can be increased.

Abstract

Complaints from nurses are often received by nursing managers regarding staff shortages, which leads to increased workload. Determining the unquantifiable level of workload poses a challenge, as the head nurse cannot accurately assess the number of staff shortages in the hospital room. Therefore, this study aims to develop a web-based application for the calculation of nursing staff needs based on patient dependency levels and unit workload. The application is accessible through both mobile and web platforms. A pre-experimental one-shot case study design, including 25 nurses, was used at a hospital in West Java. Measurements were conducted only during the post-test phase. The results showed that the majority of respondents were female (80%), who held a Diploma degree (76%), and worked as managers (48%). The average age of respondents was 34.3 ± 7.27 years, with a median experience of 5.0 ± 728 years. Generally, nurses' satisfaction with the application was at a moderate satisfaction, with an average satisfaction rate of 72.4%. A more detailed breakdown showed satisfaction scores of 74%, 71.4%, 75%, 70%, and 70.8% for content, format, accuracy, timeliness, and ease of use, respectively. Satisfaction with the application needs to be improved, specifically for timeliness and ease of use. This application was developed as a potential method for efficiently assessing staffing needs. Providing adequate training for nurses is essential to enhance the effectiveness and usability of the application in hospital settings.
