Abstract

This study intended to know the correlation between teachers’ ability on using CALL and their habit in teaching secondary school in Jakarta. The independent variable (X) is the teachers’ perception in using CALL; meanwhile, the dependent variable (Y) is teachers’ habit in teaching. The research used quantitative method that applied questionnaire as the instrument to collect the data. The population in this research was 100 teachers, but the writers only took 80 teachers as the sample of this research. The writers used random sampling technique. To obtain the data of X variable (teachers’ perception in using CALL) and Y variable (teachers’ habit in teaching), the witers distributed quistionnaire consisted of 40 items. The writers used Pearson Product Moment’s formula to calculate the correlation between X variable and Y variable. After analyzing the data, it was found that both sample data (X and Y) were normally distributed because χ2o < χ2t X data (3.91 < 9.49), and Y data (8.13 < 9.49). The correlation was found r-observed = 0.333 and r-table = 0.217 in a significant 0.05 with n = 80. Because r-observed < r-table, Ho was rejected and HI was accepted. It means that there was a significant relationship between teachers’ habit in teaching English with technology and their competency in using CALL.

Abstract

This study searched for empirical evidence of which instructional method, either Presentation-Practice-Production (PPP) or Task-based Learning (TBL), was more effective in teaching speaking to real beginners of young learners. The selected samples were taken by non-random sampling from Foundation II level with ten students for each class. This study, whose data was collected through an oral test, was an experimental research by using T-test at 0.05 significance level. The findings revealed that t-computation was higher than t-table (+2,11 > +2,10). It implied that the mean of PPP class was significantly higher than TBL class. The findings above led to a conclusion that the use of PPP was more effective than TBL in teaching speaking to young learners. It was also discovered that drilling activities, which occurred intensively in PPP, yet not in TBL, gave a great contribution in supporting the effectiveness of PPP in teaching speaking. Drillings were beneficial and met the characteristics of the students who belonged to the population of this study. Therefore, PPP, rather than TBL, was more recommended in teaching speaking to real beginners of young learners whose characteristics met the ones mentioned in the discussion below. However, since drillings can be very mechanical and meaningless, in order not to cause boredom, the length of time allocated for the activities should be considered carefully. Moreover, for an optimum result, drillings must always be accompanied by communicative activities.

Abstract

This research studied the English pre-service teachers’ knowledge about linguistics in one of private university in Indonesia. By using the open-ended and close-ended questioners as it is fit with quantitative study, this research attempted to figure out the capacity of the English pre-service teachers in dealing with linguistics theory or understanding that is essential for them in giving full description or portrayal about English linguistics for teaching pupils at school. This research involved 100 respondents within 2 main focuses on micro-linguistics studies; 1) the morphology theory and understanding, 2) the phonology theory and understanding. The result showed there was a fact that English pre-service teachers had limit or paucity of linguistics understanding that can support them with better explanation and knowledge for teaching their future pupils.

Abstract

This research was an attempt to prove the effectiveness of using full-English as a language of instruction in improving children’s English-speaking skill. Treatments were given in 6 meetings for each of the control and experimental class. Two types of lesson plans were arranged, one used full-English as the language of instruction for the experiment class and the other used mixed language (a combination of English and mother tongue) for the control class. An experiment with a quasi-experimental design and an oral test were used as the method and instrument. Based on the calculation of Chi-square and Fisher tests, it was found that the data of both classes were homogeneous and normally distributed. After fulfilling the requirements, the hypothesis was tested by using the T-test at 0.05 significance level. The findings discovered that t-computation was higher than t-table (+3.25 > +1.67). It indicated that the mean of the experiment class was significantly higher than the control class. The findings above led to a conclusion that the use of full-English as language of instruction was effective in improving children’s English-speaking skill. However, since the children were still beginners of English as a foreign language, then it was advisable to ensure that the English used by teachers be inside the children’s zone of proximal development. It was also recommended for teachers to use broken instead of standard English and to accompany their language input with gestures in order deliver meaning easier.

Abstract

Sebagai Platform utama dalam upaya menjadikan teknologi berkesinambungan pada proses cetak, web to print memiliki fungsi yang luas. Dengan menggunakan sistem integrasi berbasis Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) pelaksanaan utama bussiness process cetak dapat berjalan meski adanya kebijakan ekonomi apapun. Dengan adanya perancangan sistem penjualan cetak jarak jauh berbasis web ERP maka perusahaan yang masih konvensional harus menyesuaikan  dengan cara efektif agar perusahaan yang sudah merancang sistem cetak web to print dapat memberikan informasi kepada customer yang sudah menjadi pelanggan tetap di perusahaan agar lebih efisien dalam melakukan order cetak via web to print. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan lain serta implementasi web to print, maka dibutuhkan skema flowchart dalam rancangan sistem ini. Flowchart web to print ini mempunyai beberapa fungsi seperti menghitung harga produk cetak, mengelola order cetak pelanggan dan mengelola pembayaran pelanggan. Diharapkan penelitian ini memberikan fungsi analisa karakter bagi perusahaan grafika maupun akademik agar dapat difungsikan sebagai platform utama operasional. Terlebih lagi pada era pandemi yang membuat skema teknologi jarak jauh diutamakan.

Abstract

Abstrak:Banyak masyarakat sekitar kampus Polimedia yang masih awam tentang berbagai teknik cetak apalagi para santri yang di pondoknya tidak memiliki fasilitas yang berkaitan dengan industri percetakan dan tentunya belum mengetahui mesin 3D printing. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bermitra dengan Pondok Pesantren Skill. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan pendampingan dalam mendesain dan membuat produk dengan memanfaatkan teknik cetak 3Dimensi. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan workshop dan praktikum secara daring. Para peserta menyimak pemaparan dari para narasumber. Kemudian, peserta menyaksikan proses uji coba mulai dari desain sampai cetak. Setelah mendapat pengetahuan yang cukup, peserta diminta mendesain dengan aplikasi yang diberikan oleh narasumber. Hasil dari pelaksanaan ini mereka tertarik dan mendapatkan pengetahuan baru dalam bidang cetak 3D. Pelatihan ini bermanfaat bagi para peserta untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dan pengetahuan para santri Pondok Pesantren Skill Jakarta tentang perkembangan teknologi khususnya mesin 3D Printing.Kata Kunci: Cetak 3Dimensi; Grafika; Mesin Shilouette.Abstract: Many people around the Polimedia campus are still unfamiliar with various printing techniques, especially the students who don't have facilities related to the printing industry and of course don't know about 3D printing machines. Then, participants watched the trial process from design to print. After obtaining sufficient knowledge, participants were asked to design with the application provided by the resource person. As a result of this implementation they are interested and gain new knowledge in the field of 3D printing. This training is useful for participants to improve the skills and knowledge of the Jakarta Skill Boarding School students about technological developments, especially 3D Printing machines.Keywords: 3D Printing; Graphics; Shilouette Machine

Abstract

Risk Assessment is a process of identifying and analyzing risks to determine the level of threat/danger to archive damage. The results of the Risk Assessment activities can be used to formulate archive preservation policies and strategies in carrying out preservation actions both preventively and curatively. The Risk Assessment activity is an activity that is expected to make it easier to determine steps in prevention, repair, maintenance of physical archives in general, including the information contained therein and can be used to formulate policies. The purpose of writing this final project is to determine the parameters observed in the risk assessment process of Semarang static archival paper, and determine the extent of the damage so that it can be used as a reference to determine whether restoration and reproduction are necessary. The risk assessment steps carried out consist of preparation, implementation and evaluation. Parameters observed in the risk assessment process of Semarang static archive paper included the shape of the binding and the causes of damage to archival documents caused by chemicals, pests and water stains. The results of the archival paper risk assessment show that the document has a high level of damage and is very vulnerable and easily broken so restoration activities are needed. The factors that cause the most damage to archival paper are insects, ink corrosion, foxing stains and acidification

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to explore the perceptions of vocational students towards learning English and its relationship with their views on career potential after graduation. Learning English at vocational colleges has an important role in preparing students to face an increasingly global world of work. However, several issues and challenges may arise in integrating learning English with the career goals of vocational students. This research method uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and content analysis to collect data from different samples of vocational students. The information collected will reveal the views and expectations of students regarding learning English and how their perceptions relate to career opportunities after graduation. The results of this research are expected to provide valuable insights for vocational tertiary institutions and English teachers in developing a more relevant and effective curriculum. In addition, the research results can also help vocational students understand the benefits of learning English and how to prepare for career success in this global era. Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bermitra dengan Sekolah Dasar Negeri Susukan 06 dan 07 Jakarta Timur. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan pelatihan pada guru-guru SDN Susukan 06 dan 07 mengenai pembelajaran digital infografis agar dapat membantu mereka dalam proses pembelajaran jarak jauh School from Home (SFH) yang sudah ditetapkan oleh pemerintah pada tahun ini. Banyak guru yang belum terampil membuat dan menggunakan berbagai aplikasi digital untuk membuat media pembelajaran digital untuk membantu proses pembelajaran jarak jauh atau School from Home (SFH), dan mereka kurang memiliki pengetahuan tentang media pembelajaran digital; salah satunya infografis. Setelah mengikuti pelatihan media pembelajaran digital khususnya media infografis, para guru sudah mampu membuat dan mendisain media infografis untuk berbagai mata pelajaran, seperti: olah raga, biologi, IPA dan lain-lain. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil karya para peserta pelatihan yang sangat baik. Harapannya para guru-guru yang sudah terlatih akan mampu meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di sekolah. Mereka mampu memilih dan merancang serta memanfaatkan aplikasi digital yang sesuai dalam proses pembelajaran jarak jauh School from Home (SFH) sehingga guru bisa menyajikan materi yang menarik dan berkualitas sehingga dapat memacu semangat dan kreativitas peserta didik.Kata Kunci: Digital learning; School from home; Learning media
