Abstract

Porphyridium cruentum is a kind of red microalgae (Rhodophyta) that can grow and producepolysaccharides. Polysaccharides are produced on the cell, then released and accumulated byextracellular into medias. This study aimed to determine the optimum growth and productionof extracellular polysaccharides (EPs) from P. cruentum in various photoperiods. The cultivationwas done with the photoperiods at 24:0, 18:6, 12:12 and 06:18 h (light:dark) during 40 days usingmodified medium F/2. The growth is determined by measuring optical density (OD) and driedbiomasses, the productions of EPs are determined by dried weight polysaccharides as a resultof precipitation. The results showed that OD at photoperiod 24:0 has the highest value 0.876 ±0.0645 unit of absorbance, biomass concentrations are highest in the photoperiod 24:0 and 12:12respectively 716.12 ± 123 mg-l and 696.5 ± 74.5 mg-l, the highest production of EPs on thephotoperiod 12:12 is 1.310 ± 130.26 mg-l. 12:12 hours (light: dark) photoperiod is optimally usedin P. cruentum cultivations with high biomass and extracellular polysaccharide results.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penyapihan pakan mikroenkapsulasi ekstrak kasar maggot pada umur larva nila (Oreochromis niloticus) yang berbeda serta menentukan waktu penyapihan yang tepat. Analisis yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan (kontrol atau tanpa penyapihan, penyapihan pada umur 9, 14 dan 19 hari) dan 4 ulangan. Variabel yang diamati yaitu, pertumbuhan mutlak (panjang dan berat), laju pertumbuhan spesifik (SGR) dan sintasan (SR). Hasil penelitian menunjukan pertumbuhan mutlak panjang berkisar 7.15 - 8.65 mm, pertumbuhan mutlak berat berkisar 0.046 - 0.084 g, SGR berkisar 5.633 - 7.352 % dan SR berkisar 64 - 76 %. Waktu penyapihan pakan berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan sintasan larva ikan nila (p0,05). Waktu penyapihan pakan terbaik terdapat pada usia larva 9 hari.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service is to provide an understanding about the coastal environment to students of State Elementary School of Kebon, Kasemen District, Serang City. The method used in this community service is by providing teaching and socialization about protecting the environment in coastal areas. This community service is intended due to students of State Elementary School of Kebon live in direct contact with the coastal area. The teaching and socialization were conducted from September to November 2020. The teaching is conducted online through WhatsApp groups since the local and school policies did not allow face-to-face learning. Participants in this community service program were 50 students from grades 5 and 6. The conclusion is that through this program students of State Elementary School of Kebon become more aware and care about their coastal environment. This early environmental education is expected to reduce the behavior of disposing of trash inappropriately and increase students’ awareness of State Elementary School of Kebon to protect the coastal environment

Abstract

The parameter value of ornamental fish is determined by the brighter the color of a type of ornamental fish, the higher the value so that farmers need to maintain the color of the ornamental fish by providing feed containing color pigments that can be obtained from vegetable and animal sources of carotenoids. Sunkist balloon molly fish (Poecilia sp.) were stocked in an aquarium measuring 60 × 30 × 30 cm3 (5 fish/l), Objectives of this study was to determine the effect of feeding formulations using different carotenoid sources with the best treatment for improving the color quality of sunkist balloon molly fish (Poecilia sp.). The method used was experimental (quantitative) completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments, 1 control, and 3 repetitions. Feed was given ad libitum (5% body weight) 3 times a day. Color quality data were analyzed using ImageJ Software and one-way ANOVA test. The results of the study showed that feed utilization efficiency, feed conversion ratio and growth performance were not significantly different between treatments. There was a significant effect on improving the quality of the color shown in the P₃ (yellow pumpkin) treatment of 10% as the best treatment among others. Water quality parameter that observed trend to be normal and stable from the beginning to the end of the maintenance period.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kandungan senyawa bioaktif serta aktivitas antioksidan rumput laut Eucheuma cottonii secara kualitatif. Pengeringan rumput laut E. cottonii dilakukan menggunakan sinar matahari dan ditutup dengan paranet agar komponen bioaktifnya tidak rusak. Proses ekstraksi dilakukan menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Analisis yang dilakukan meliputi jumlah rendemen, uji fitokimia, dan uji aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan pereaksi DPPH (Diphenylpicrylhydrazyl) yang dilakukan pada beberapa perlakuan yaitu ekstrak kasar, pengenceran 10 dan 100 kali dengan pelarut etanol. Kandungan komponen bioaktif (fitokimia) dan aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan melihat perubahan warna yang dihasilkan. Proses ekstraksi E. cottoni menghasilkan rendemen ekstrak sebesar 9,232%. Hasil uji fotokimia kualitatif ekstrak rumput laut E. cottonii mengandung senyawa bioaktif alkaloid (Wagner, Dragendorff, Mayer), flavonoid, saponin, dan tannin. Ekstrak etanol rumput laut E. cottoni memiliki aktivitas antioksidan kuat yang ditandai dengan perubahan warna pereaksi DPPH menjadi kekuningan hingga pengenceran 10 kali. Rumput laut E. cottoni melalui proses pengeringan dengan sinar matahari dan penutupan paranet dapat menjadi alternatif sumber bahan alami yang memiliki komponen senyawa bioaktif dan aktivitas antioksidan.

Abstract

Ampas kelapa merupakan limbah rumah tangga yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan alternatif dalam pembuatan pakan ikan untuk mengatasi biaya produksi karena harganya ekonomis dan mudah didapatkan. Tujuan penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu untuk mengetahui komposisi formulasi pakan buatan dengan bahan ampas kelapa yang telah difermentasi dengan ragi roti (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) untuk pakan ikan lele sangkuriang (Clarias gariepinus). Percobaan secara RAL 4 perlakuan dan ulangan yaitu dengan formulasi ampas kelapa 0% (P0), 60% (P1), 70% (P2), 80% (P3). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan P0 mengalami pertumbuhan yang paling tinggi. Namun, P1 mengalami pertumbuhan, kelangsungan hidup, dan FCR yang paling baik diantara perlakuan lain. Formulasi pakan buatan dengan ampas kelapa 60% memberikan pertumbuhan ikan lele sangkuriang (Clarias gariepinus), nilai laju pertumbuhan spesifik pada perlakuan P1 yaitu 1,69%, pertumbuhan panjang mutlak 1,90 cm, SR 100% dan FCR 1,5. Oleh karena itu, ampas kelapa dapat digunakan dalam pakan buatan. Coconut dregs is a household waste that can be used as an alternative ingredient in the manufacture of fish feed to overcome production costs because it is economical and easy to obtain. The aim of the research was to determine the composition of the feed formulation made from fermented coconut dregs with baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) for sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) feed. RAL experiment with 4 treatments and repetitions, namely with the formulation of coconut dregs 0% (P0), 60% (P1), 70% (P2), 80% (P3). The results showed that P0 had the highest growth rate. However, P1 exhibited the best growth, survival rate, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) among the treatments. The formulation of artificial feed with 60% coconut dregs provided growth for sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus), with a specific growth rate of 1.69%, an absolute growth length of 1.90 cm, a survival rate of 100%, and an FCR of 1.5. Therefore, coconut dregs can be used in artificial feed production.
