Abstract

This research aims to investigates the effect of the Charades Game toward students’ vocabulary mastery at the ninth grade of MTs Muhammadiyah Kubangkondang in the academic year 2025/2026. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group. A total of 36 students participated, with 18 students in the experimental group and 18 students in the control group. The experimental group was taught using the Charades Game, while the control group received instruction through a conventional method. Data were collected using a multiple-choice vocabulary test and analyzed through descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, and independent samples t-test. The Shapiro–Wilk test confirmed that the data were normally distributed, and Levene’s test indicated homogeneity of variances. The results of the independent samples t-test further confirmed a significant difference in post-test scores between the experimental and control groups (p = 0.038, Cohen’s d = 0.718), favoring the experimental group. It can be concluded that the Charades Game is an effective teaching strategy for enhancing vocabulary mastery among junior high school students. The research recommends integrating game-based learning into English language teaching to foster engagement, motivation, and improved learning outcomes.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology, artificial intelligence, and network-based learning environments has fundamentally transformed how knowledge is produced, distributed, and learned. This transformation exposes limitations in classical learning theories that were developed in relatively stable and linear educational contexts. Connectivism emerges as a theoretical response to these changes, emphasizing learning as a process of forming and maintaining connections within distributed knowledge networks. However, connectivism continues to face conceptual and practical criticism, particularly regarding its epistemological status and pedagogical applicability in formal education. This study aims to reconstruct connectivism theory within the landscape of 21st-century education by critically examining its challenges, identifying its pedagogical opportunities, and articulating its implications for contemporary teaching and learning practices. Using a critical literature review method, this article analyzes key national and international studies related to connectivism, digital pedagogy, and educational transformation. The findings indicate that connectivism remains highly relevant when reconceptualized as an integrative pedagogical framework that balances technological connectivity with cognitive, social, and ethical dimensions of learning. This reconstruction positions connectivism as a viable foundation for adaptive, reflective, and sustainable education in the digital era.

Abstract

Literasi matematis merupakan kemampuan untuk menguasai dan menerapkan matematika di berbagai konteks permasalahan serta dapat memberikan pemahaman kepada orang lain terkait penggunaan matematika dalam memecahkan masalah. Saat ini, soal-soal kemampuan literasi matematis sudah mulai banyak digunakan, salah satunya pada seleksi masuk perguruan tinggi atau yang sekarang dikenal dengan sebutan SNBT (Seleksi Nasional Berbasis Tes). Sesuai peraturan menteri pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi Republik Indonesia Nomor 48 Tahun 2022 tentang Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru Program Diploma dan Program Sarjana pada Perguruan Tinggi Negeri bahwa tidak ada lagi tes mata pelajaran atau Tes Kemampuan Akademik (TKA).  Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan soal kemampuan literasi matematis berbasis etnomatematika dari arsitektur Masjid Agung Banten. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan Martin Tessmer, yaitu formative evaluation. Tahapan dalam model pengembangan ini meliputi tahap preliminary, self evaluation, prototyping (expert review, one to one,dansmall group), sertafield test. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan soal-soal kemampuan literasi matematis berbasis etnomatematika dari arsitektur Masjid Agung Banten yang valid. Soal-soal yang valid dalam penelitian ini mperolehan rata-rata validitas sebesar 93.75% dengan kriteria sangat valid dan praktis digunakan dengan rata-rata kepraktisan 66.68%. Penelitian ini menghasilkan 14 soal kemampuan literasi matematika berbasis etnomatematika dari arsitektur Masjid Agung Banten pada materi transformasi geometri kelas XI yang valid dan praktis digunakan. Soal yang dikembangkan selain dapat digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan literasi siswa juga dapat menambah pengetahuan siswa tentang arsitektur Masjid Agung Banten tanpa mendatangi tempatnya secara langsung.Mathematical literacy is the ability to master and apply mathematics in various problem contexts and to provide understanding to others regarding the use of mathematics in solving problems. Currently, mathematical literacy test items are increasingly being used, one of which is in university entrance selection, now known as SNBT (Seleksi Nasional Berbasis Tes / National Test-Based Selection).The purpose of this study is to develop mathematical literacy test items based on ethnomathematics from the architecture of the Great Mosque of Banten. The method used in this research is Research and Development (R&D) with Martin Tessmer’s formative evaluation development model. The stages in this model include the preliminary stage, self-evaluation, prototyping (expert review, one-to-one, and small group), and field test. The results of this study are ethnomathematics-based mathematical literacy test items derived from the architecture of the Great Mosque of Banten that are valid and reliable. The valid test items in this study obtained an average validity of 93.75%, categorized as very valid, and practical to use with an average practicality of 66.68%. The reliability showed a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.982, which falls into the very high category (≥0.90). The developed test items can not only be used to measure students’ mathematical literacy skills but also enrich their knowledge of the architecture of the Great Mosque of Banten without having to visit the site directly.

Abstract

Kemampuan literasi numerasi siswa Indonesia masih tergolong rendah berdasarkan hasil Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) dan Asesmen Nasional Berbasis Komputer (ANBK). Salah satu penyebabnya adalah bahan ajar matematika yang digunakan masih bersifat teoritis dan kurang mengaitkan konsep matematika dengan konteks kehidupan nyata peserta didik. Akibatnya, peserta didik mengalami kesulitan memahami materi transformasi geometri secara kontekstual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar transformasi geometri berbasis etnomatematika Masjid Agung Banten yang valid dan praktis serta berorientasi pada kemampuan literasi numerasi Siswa SMA. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan 4-D yang dibatasi pada tahap define, design, dan develop. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 9 peserta didik pada uji coba kelompok kecil dan 14 peserta didik pada uji coba kelompok besar di MA Mathla’ul Anwar Pusat. Instrumen penelitian meliputi lembar validasi ahli materi, ahli bahasa, ahli media, dan angket kepraktisan peserta didik. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar memperoleh kategori sangat valid dari ahli materi (87,5%) dan ahli media (86,7%), serta kategori valid dari ahli bahasa (80%). Hasil uji kepraktisan menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar berada pada kategori sangat praktis pada uji kelompok kecil (81,81%) dan kategori praktis pada uji kelompok besar (79,19%). Hasil validasi ahli materi menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar telah memuat aktivitas dan soal kontekstual yang mengintegrasikan konsep transformasi geometri dengan arsitektur Masjid Agung Banten sehingga berorientasi pada kemampuan literasi numerasi. Dengan demikian, bahan ajar yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria valid dan praktis serta memiliki potensi untuk mendukung kemampuan literasi numerasi Siswa SMA.
