Abstract

Effective education requires an approach that encourages ability to analyze critically, particularly when learning mathematics which is often considered challenging by students. Problem Based Learning model is considered capable of developing students' critical thinking abilities through real problem solving and collaboration. The purpose of this study is to find out how the Problem Based Learning approach affected the critical thinking abilities of Grade X students at SMAN 1 Driyorejo in the subject of arithmetic sequences throughout the 2024–2025 school year. The research employs an appropriate experimental design, namely the pretest-posttest control group design, and takes a quantitative approach.. The sample includes two classes: class X-6 as the experimental group implementing the Problem Based Leaning model, and class X-7 as the control group applying conventional teaching methods. Critical thinking assessments were used to gather data both before and after the intervention. To ascertain whether there was a significant difference between the two groups, the data were examined using a t-test. The findings indicated that the average pretest scores for the control and experimental classes were 31,91 and 58,71, respectively, while the average posttest scores were 46,48 and 90,05. Before testing the hypothesis, students' critical thinking test scores must be checked for normality and homogeneity to ensure the data is normally distributed and has the same variance. The data analysis's findings demonstrate the worth of t_count>t_table, result is |-19,826>-1,995 | for pretest questions and the value of t_count>t_table, result is |-48,278>-1,995| for posttest questions. Thus, when compared to conventional teaching approaches, the data analysis results demonstrate that the Problem Based Learning model significantly improves students' critical thinking abilities.Keyword: Problem Based Learning, Critical Thinking Abilities, Arithmetic Sequence

Abstract

Abstract: The program implemented by KKN students Family medicinal plants (TOGA) are being planted and used in an attempt to enhance family health, particularly in the food industry. program. In this program students use methods including (1) preparation, preparing what will be done and what items will be used. (2) debriefing, providing debriefing through socialization at one of the RW village halls. And (3) implementing the KKN program, planting each RW with 10 TOGA plant seeds consisting of three tomato seeds, three eggplant seeds and 4 chili seeds. The benefits and properties of TOGA that are cultivated are not yet known, therefore outreach is needed to the local community to better understand and know the benefits of the TOGA plant for our body's health, although the benefits of TOGA have been known for a long time, its use is limited to a concoction that has been prepared as a family medicine for many years. But few individuals are aware of the advantages. of the TOGA plant, therefore this outreach can help people become more familiar with the TOGA plant and its benefits for the body to maintain health. Keywords: Plants; TOGA; Plaosan Village  Abstrak: Inisiatif penanaman dan konsumsi Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA) mahasiswa KKN bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesehatan keluarga, khususnya di sektor pangan. Dalam program ini mahasiswa menggunakan metode yang dilakukan antara lain (1) persiapan, mempersiapkan apasaja yang akan dilakukan dan apasaja barang yang digunakan. (2) pembekalan, memberikan pembekalan melalui sosialisasi di salah satu balai desa RW. Dan (3) pelaksanaan program KKN, melakukan penanaman per RW dengan masing-masing terdapat 10 bibit tanaman TOGA yang terdiri dari tiga bibit tomat, tiga bibit terong dan 4 bibit cabai. Meskipun manfaat TOGA bagi kesehatan telah lama diketahui, penggunaannya terbatas pada ramuan yang dibuat sebagai obat keluarga yang diwariskan secara turun-temurun. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan edukasi kepada masyarakat setempat tentang manfaat tanaman TOGA karena khasiat dan manfaatnya belum diketahui. Namun, belum banyak masyarakat yang mengetahui khasiat tanaman TOGA, oleh karena itu melalui sosialisasi ini, masyarakat akan lebih mampu memahami tanaman TOGA dan bagaimana tanaman tersebut dapat membantu menjaga kesehatan tubuh. Kata kunci: Tanaman; TOGA; Desa Plaosan

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the use of differentiated learning and learning motivation on student learning outcomes in Mathematics class XI at SMA GIKI – 1 Surabaya. The focus of the problems raised includes: (1) whether there is a significant influence between the use of differentiated learning compared to expository learning on Mathematics learning outcomes; (2) whether high and low levels of learning motivation affect student learning outcomes; and (3) whether there is an interaction between learning strategies and learning motivation on Mathematics learning outcomes. This study uses a quantitative approach with quasi experiment methods and 2x2 factorial design. The research sample consisted of students in grade XI of SMA GIKI-1 Surabaya who were selected through purposive sampling techniques. The instruments used include learning outcome tests to measure students' academic achievement and learning motivation questionnaires to classify students' motivation levels. The data obtained was analyzed using two-way ANOVA to determine the influence of each variable and its interactions. The results showed that: (1) there was a significant influence between the use of differentiated learning strategies on students' Mathematics learning outcomes compared to expository learning; (2) students with high learning motivation have better learning outcomes compared to students with low motivation; and (3) there is a significant interaction between learning strategies and the level of learning motivation on student learning outcomes. These findings indicate the importance of applying adaptive learning approaches and strengthening motivation in improving Mathematics learning achievement at the secondary education level.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of visual learning style using the Problem Based Learning model on learning outcomes in terms of the emotional intelligence of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Menganti. The population used is class XI IPA and the selected sample is students of class XI IPA 2 and XI IPA 3 by applying the Problem Based Learning model. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires and student learning outcomes tests. From the results of the data analysis, the value of sig. (2-tailed) = 0.005 on the results of the visual learning style test with high emotional intelligence was obtained. Meanwhile, the visual style learning outcome test with moderate emotional intelligence obtained a value of sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 and the visual learning style with emotional intelligence obtained a value of sig. (2-tailed) = 0.001. It can be said that there is an influence on visual learning style using Problem Based Learning on significant learning outcomes of the emotional intelligence of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Menganti in 2021/2022. Keywords: problem based learning, visual learning style, emotional intelligence, mathematics learning outcomes. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i2.pp392-399

Abstract

The way of thinking logically and reasoning in number theory courses can be seen by the number of proofs of the properties of numbers in some basic set of numbers. This qualitative research aims to analyze student creativity in solving proving questions directly. The research involved 37 third semester students taking lectures on number theory. The technique in this research is to provide a test of proving questions then ask students with their own desires to do in front of the class, analyze the result of students work and interview students about their work. Data analysis was performed by analyzing the creativity of the evidence carried out by students fulfilling which aspects of the aspects of creative thinking behavior and indicators of creative thinking abilities based on Mahmudi. As many as four students have beeb able to use different evidentiary techniques. The four students are creative with very low, low, medium, high creativity ability levels based on fulfillent of indicators of creative thiking abilities based Mahmudi.

Abstract

The development of information technology requires teachers to have adequate competence in designing and implementing digital-based learning. Teachers are not only required to master the teaching material but also be able to utilize technology as an effective learning media and resource. However, elementary school teachers still encounter obstacles in optimally integrating digital technology into the learning process. Based on these conditions, this Community Service activity was carried out in the form of a Digital Learning Workshop for teachers at SDN Sampangagung 1, Mojosari District, Mojokerto Regency. This activity aims to improve teachers' understanding and skills related to digital learning concepts, the use of digital media and learning resources, and the use of the internet, blogs, YouTube, and social media in learning. In addition, this activity also aims to equip teachers with the ability to design innovative and contextual digital learning in accordance with the needs of the community.The characteristics of elementary school students were examined. The participants in this activity were all teachers at SDN Sampangagung 1, Mojosari District, Mojokerto Regency. The workshop was conducted online, combining discussion and practical sessions. The results showed that the Digital Learning Workshop improved teachers' conceptual understanding and practical skills in utilizing learning technology. Overall, this community service activity was deemed successful, based on the achievement of participant targets, the implementation of the material, and the improvement of teachers' skills in mastering digital-based learning.

Abstract

Purpose: This study characterizes learning obstacles in elementary algebra among pre-service mathematics teachers to address gaps in conceptual and reflective thinking that are frequently overshadowed by purely procedural mastery. Design/methodology/approach: Adopting a descriptive qualitative design, this research involved three mathematics education students at Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya. Data were gathered through problem-solving tests and in-depth interviews, subsequently analyzed using the Miles-Huberman model and validated through technical triangulation. Findings: The results identify three primary categories of obstacles: (1) ontogenic (anxiety and carelessness); (2) didactic (entrenched procedural learning habits); and (3) epistemological (conceptual misconceptions). These interconnected barriers significantly impede students' capacity to construct sound mathematical knowledge. Practical implications: It is recommended that educators implement error analysis and metacognitive reflection strategies to facilitate the reconstruction of robust conceptual frameworks among students. Originality/value: The significance of this research lies in its comprehensive mapping of psychological and cognitive obstacles occurring simultaneously, providing a strategic foundation for targeted pedagogical interventions in Elementary Algebra courses..   Purpose: Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan hambatan belajar aljabar elementer mahasiswa calon guru guna mengatasi kendala berpikir konseptual dan reflektif yang sering terabaikan oleh penguasaan prosedural semata. Design/methodology/approach: Studi deskriptif kualitatif ini melibatkan tiga mahasiswa Pendidikan Matematika Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pemecahan masalah dan wawancara, lalu dianalisis menggunakan model Miles-Huberman dengan validasi triangulasi teknik. Findings: Temuan mengungkap tiga hambatan utama: (1) ontogenik (kecemasan dan ketidaktelitian); (2) didaktik (kebiasaan belajar prosedural); dan (3) epistemologis (miskonsepsi konsep). Keterkaitan hambatan tersebut berdampak signifikan pada rendahnya kemampuan mahasiswa mengonstruksi pengetahuan matematis. Practical implications: Pendidik direkomendasikan menerapkan strategi analisis kesalahan (error analysis) dan refleksi metakognitif untuk membantu mahasiswa membangun kembali pemahaman konseptual yang kokoh. Originality/value: Keunggulan penelitian ini terletak pada pemetaan hambatan belajar yang menggabungkan aspek psikologis dan kognitif secara simultan sebagai landasan intervensi pedagogis tepat sasaran dalam mata kuliah Aljabar Elementer.
