Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the influence of linguistic intelligence towards English achievement at SMA Tugu Ibu in Depok. The data for linguistic intelligence is taken from worksheet though test. Meanwhile the data for English achievement is taken from the score of English in students’ academic record which is familiar called rapor. To analyze the data, the researcher uses SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) version 17. Based on the result of the data analysis, it is known that coefficient correlation (r) = 0,766 and determination coefficient is 58,7%. It means that there are significant and strong influence of linguistic intelligence towards English achievement. It means that there are significant and strong influence of linguistic intelligence towards English achievement. English is influenced by linguistic intelligence for 58,7%. Meanwhile, the rest 41,3% is influenced by other factors. Futhermore, the test of hypotheses through regression analysis make the result for regression equality Y = 55,48 + 1,747 X. the result for regression equality significant test is got the score of Sig = 0,000 and tobserved = 6,307 so Sig score < 0,05 And tobserved > ttable so Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. It means that regression coefficient is significant. The conclusion is there are strong and significant influence of linguistic intelligence towards English achievement at SMA Tugu Ibu in Depok, West Java.Keywords : Linguistic Intelligence and English Achievement.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know any kind of Figurative Meanings, which is dominantly used and to find out kinds of situation used in the Jakarta Post Headline News. The data were collected by qualitative research; they were gathered by doing newspaper observation. There were 14 headline news of Jakarta post collected. The data were analyzed by figurative meaning which consists of: personification, synecdoche, metonymy. The result of the study shows that Metonymy (3), Synecdoche (6), Personification (5), and the most dominant of figurative meaning are Synecdoche (6). This figurative meaning used in all situations that show expression in which the name of an attribute or a thing is substituted by another with which it is associated closely.Key words: Figurative Meanings Analysis, Headline News Jakarta Post

Abstract

In the world of education, teachers have a very large and important role in teaching and learning activities because teachers are educators who are directly in contact with students, so teachers are required to have good performance in order to teach students who also have good quality. One of the educational problems faced by the Indonesian nation is the quality of education at every level and education unit, especially elementary and secondary education. Various efforts have been made to improve the quality of education, including through various training and improving teacher qualifications, procuring books and teaching tools, improving facilities and infrastructure, and improving the quality of school management. The research method used in this study is quantitative through path analysis and SITOREM analysis. The results of this study are that there is a positive relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable when viewed from the path analysis, then the relationship is a functional relationship where teacher performance (Y) is formed as a result of the functioning of organizational culture functions (X1), transformational leadership (X2), self-efficacy (X3) work motivation (X4)

Abstract

Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk membekali para guru-guru SMP di wilayah Jagakarsa  agar mendapatkan pelatihan pembuatan media ajar dengan memanfaatkan bahan sederhana dan fasilitas sekolah seperti komputer dan internet. Kegiatan ini berupa pelatihan pembuatan media ajar dengan menggunakan bahan sederhana untuk membuat gambar, flashcard, dan permainan pda aplikasi Educandy dengan menggunakan komputer/laptop dan jaringan internet . Kegiatan ini juga ditujukan untuk meningkatkan kreativitas guru-guru tersebut. Dalam pelaksanakannya, para guru di beri pengenalan tentang media ajar dan juga bagaimana cara pembuatan media tersebut sehingga di akhir kegiatan, para guru dapat memproduksi media ajar hasil karya mereka sendiri untuk diterapkan dikelasnya dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar mereka. Mereka juga mempraktekan cara mengajar dengan metode permainan yang ada di salah satu aplikasi belajar bahasa Inggris di internet dengan menggunakan laptop. Dengan menggunakan metode presentasi, diskusi, dan tanya jawab, kegiatan ini dilaksanakan bagi mitra kami. Hasil setelah dilaksanakan pelatihan ini, para guru-guru SMP ini dapat memahami dan memproduksi dan mempraktekan media ajar yang mereka buat. Pelatihan  ini dapat dimanfaatkan para guru untuk meningkatkan kreativitas mereka. Para guru selain menggunakan metode atau teknik mengajar yang menarik, dapat melengkapi dengan media ajar seperti yang telah diberikan/diajarkan. Diharapkan dengan menggunakan media ajar ini dapat memberi motivasi para peserta didiknya dalam belajar.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the style of language used by Jay Asher in Thirteen Reasons Why and to find the dominant type of language style in Jay Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why. The research method used is qualitative. The results of this study are based on the theory of language style according to Keraf. The style of language that is widely used in this novel is of the 25 styles of language found, there are as many as 16 data (64%) are personification language styles, 5 data (20%) are ironic language styles, 2 data (8%) are figurative language Antiphrasis, 1 data (4%) is an allusion style, and 1 data (4%) is a metaphor style. Personification style is in the first place and is the dominant style of language used in Jay Asher's novel Thirteen Reasons Why.
