Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyrakat (PKM) ini menawarkan suatu solusi pengembangan kompetensi pedagogis guru bahasa Inggris SMP Kota Mataram dengan menerapkan Lesson Study for Learning Community (LSLC), yaitu suatu model pembinaan profesi pendidik melalui kajian pembelajaran secara kolaboratif dan berkelanjutan berdasar prinsip kolegialitas dan mutual learning untuk membangun komunitas belajar (Sato & Atencio, 2014). Kegiatan Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) meningkatkan kompetensi professional guru-guru Bahasa Inggris SMP Kota Mataram dalam merencanakan pembelajaran secara kolaboratif melalui pola LSLC; (2) meningkatkan kompetensi professional guru-guru Bahasa Inggris SMP Kota Mataram dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran secara kolaboratif melalui pola LSLC; (3) neningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam mengamati dan merefleksikan pembelajaran secara kolaboratif melalui pola LSLC. Kegiatan ini melibatkan guru-guru bahasa Inggris SMP Kota Mataram dan Tim dari PS Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris FKIP UNRAM dan dilaksanakan dalam bentuk Workshop, Pengamatan, Pendampingan dan Refleksi, dan Redesign. Dari ragkaian kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan ini telah terlaksana melalui tahapan dalam LSLC yaitu penyamaan persepsi, menyusun Chapter Design dan Lesson Design, pengembangan perangkat, pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan guru model dan pengamatan, dan melakukan refleksi pembelajaran. Kegiatan ini mampu membangun hubungan positif yang diharapkan dalam kegiatan LSLC yaitu kolaboratif, saling berbagi, kolegialitas, dan partisipatif dalam merencanakan, melaksanakan dan refleksi pembelajaran.

Abstract

Science can be a provision for students to face various challenges in the global era. This research aims to test the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model based on Tat Twam Asi on the understanding of science concepts for class V students. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent post-test-only control group design. The population in this study were all class V students. The sample for this study used a simple random sampling technique. The sample for this research was 36 students as the experimental group. Research data was collected using the test method with objective test instruments to measure understanding of science concepts. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (t-test). The results of the research show that there is a difference in understanding of science concepts between students who follow the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model based on Tat Twam Asi and students who do not follow the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model based on Tat Twam Asi in class V. It is known that The Tat Twam Asi-based Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model has a significant influence on fifth-grade students' understanding of science concepts.

Abstract

The accuracy of machine translation is still debatable. This study aims to compare the accuracy of Google Translate and BARD in translating scientific journal abstracts. The main focus is to evaluate the extent to which these two platforms can preserve the meaning and quality of translation in the abstracts of Adabiyyāt journal. This research utilizes two main theories in evaluating translation accuracy, namely the Human-mediated Translation Edit Rate (HTER) by Snover (2006) to identify translation errors and the Translation Quality Index (TQI) by Schiaffino & Zearo (2005) to calculate overall accuracy results. The results of this study show that GT is proven to be more accurate than Bard in translating abstracts from scientific journals. This can be seen from the final result of GT's calculation, which is greater than that of Bard. GT scored 99,7% in total, while Bard only got 99,1%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran IPAS melalui media interaktif Wordwall. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV di SDN 5 Cakranegara. Metode penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak 2 siklus dengan 4 tahapan, yaitu tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik observasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pengolahan data yang dilakukan pada siklus I dengan hasil skor 50,66% sedangkan siklus II dengan hasil skor 78,57%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat dikatakan bahwa keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran IPAS setelah diterapkan media Wordwall mengalami peningkatan.

Abstract

This study aims to perceive the benefits and the challenges of watching English VTubers on YouTube to one’s listening skills through the perception of the 12th grade students of SMAN 3 Mataram as it is the largest youngest audience of English VTubers. The subjects of the study were the 12th grade students of SMAN 3 Mataram which consists of 6 students in total who had been observed to have ample knowledge about English VTuber to gain the most accurate and reliable data. The data of the participants were collected through the use of questionnaires as the first data, interviews as the second data, and observation as the supporting data to add more credibility for the previous 2 techniques before being processed through the use of several data analysis techniques starting from trimming, coding, tabulation, and cross-case analysis. The cross-case analysis, being the final data analysis technique to be done, is the most important technique as the data from both the questionnaires and interviews will be compared to each other to gain the final results and conclusions of the study. Through the analysis, it was confirmed that according to the perception of the participants, there exist several benefits of watching English VTubers on YouTube to one’s listening skills as well as several challenges that exist to hinder the process.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to: (a) Find out the students level of English at The International Relation Study Program. (b) Find out the needs of English perceived by the students at The International Relation Study Program. (c) Find out The needs of English perceived by English lecturer and subject specialist at The International Relation Study Program. (d). Make recommendations for teaching English at non-English Study Program at The International Relation Study Program. The method used in this study is descriptive method. This research is conducted at The International Relation Study Program, The University of Mataram and determined by purposive sampling. The unit analysis in this study is the students with a total of 43 and the lecturers with a total of 2. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded as follows: (a) The initial level ability of students that have been measured using the ECSCS Placement Test is known that the initial ability of students are in Pre-Intermediate level with an average score of 73.06. (b) The need of English is perceived by the students at The International Relation Study Program is to improve the English language skills in terms of speaking actively. (c) The need of English is perceived from the institution, English lecturer and subject specialist can be divided into two categories: short-term goals to prepare the students to be a student and long-term goals to find a job. (d) Based on the results according to the circumstances of students and learning at The International Relation Study Program, then it can be recommended that four courses design with materials and teaching techniques appropriate to the conditions and needs of the students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai TOEFL sesi Reading dari mahasiswa senior, mengetahui korelasi TOEFL sesi Reading dengan matakuliah Reading dan kontribusi mata kuliah Reading pada TOEFL sesi Reading. Data diperoleh dari hasil tes TOEFL sesi Reading dan laporan akademik mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Reading. Analisis data menggunakan rumus Product Moment oleh Pearson dan aplikasi SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science) versi 21. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai TOEFL sesi Reading dari mahasiswa Bahasa Inggri sadalah antara 320-520 dengan nilai rata-rata 450. Kemudian, hasil menunjukkan adanya korelasi antara nilai TOEFL sesi Reading dan mata kuliah Reading mahasiswa senior Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan tahun akademik 2015/2016, kecuali untuk mata kuliah Extensive Reading 2. Koefisien korelasi antara Reading 1 dan TOEFL sesi Reading adalah 0.437, antara Reading 2 dan TOEFLsesi Reading adalah 0.366, antara Reading 3 dan TOEFL Reading adalah 0.480, antara Extensive Reading 1 dan TOEFL sesi Reading adalah 0.515 dan antara Extensive Reading 2 dan TOEFL sesiReading di bawah 0.00, yaitu -0.17. Untuk korelasi keseluruhan mata kuliah Reading dan TOEFL sesi Reading, korelasi koefisiennya adalah 0.645. Mata kuliah Reading pada jurusan Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Mataram berkontribusi pada TOEFL sesi Reading, kecuali mata kuliah Extensive Reading 2. Reading 1 berkontribusi sebesar 19.1%, Reading 2 berkontribusi sebesar 13.4%, Reading 3 berkontribusi sebesar 23.1%, Extensive Reading 1 berkontribusi sebesar13.4%, dan Extensive Reading 2 tidak memiliki kontribusi pada TOEFL sesiReading. Keseluruhan mata kuliah Reading berkontribusi sebesar 41.6% pada TOEFL Reading.
