Abstract

Photovoltaic (PV) technology is a renewable technology utilizing conversion of solar power or solar radiation into electrical energy. In the manufacture of Solar Power Generation systems, reference is needed regarding the cost of generation and scheduling of maintenance plans. To obtain this reference, it is necessary to predict the photovoltaic power output which is used to determine the power output of PV in the future. In this study, a system that is used to predict short-term power output in PV is designed. This system uses solar irradiation data and 42 days of power output in off-grid PV mini-grid as the dataset. The dataset obtained from the PV output is processed using the Support Vector Regression method with the Kernel Radial Basis Function (RBF) function. Based on the dataset used, this study succeeded in testing the best kernel, namely the RBF kernel. Evaluation of the prediction model obtained a smaller error value than other kernel tests with a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) value of 21.082%, Mean Square Error (MSE) value of 0.122, and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) value of 0.262. The prediction model obtained is used to predict the short-term PV power output for the next 3 days. The results of the prediction model have an error value of 5.785 % for MAPE, 0.005 for MAE and 0.069 for MSE. Therefore, the predictive model can be categorized as very good and feasible to predict short-term power output

Abstract

Gaplek is a processed product of cassava that requires a drying process to remove the water content in cassava. Solar thermal energy can be used for the drying process of gaplek by using a greenhouse effect drying system. However, the greenhouse effect drying system using solar thermal energy is very dependent on weather conditions and temperature that is difficult to control. Therefore, a temperature control system is proposed in this study by utilizing Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to control the exhaust fan speed. Thus, the temperature can be maintained according to the drying standard of processed cassava products. In this study, a temperature control system has been successfully created that is able to maintain the temperature in the drying room according to the drying standard, namely at a temperature of 50℃ to 60℃ when tested in three different locations, namely, Sukamaju Village, Kaligunting Village, and Sumberejo Village which have shown optimal drying temperature.

Abstract

This study discusses efforts to model solar grid systems by considering economic and regulatory factors in system design. The Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Electric Renewables software is used to evaluate the economic viability of the on-grid PV technology that provides 2200VA of power in the household sector. Optimal costs are assessed from Net Present Cost (NPC) which is a cost analysis to determine investment feasibility based on interest rates and fees in the coming years and Break Even Point (BEP) which is the point where expenditure and income are balanced. The simulation results show that in the project period of 25 years the installation of on grid PV power system has an NPC that is 20% lower than the PLN network power supply with a BEP value lower than 15 years. The lowest NPC and BEP values were obtained from the installation of 7 PV panels with 300Wp capacity connected to the PLN network. This system is able to save electricity costs by IDR 23,060,260 compared to the use of 100% electricity from the State Electricity Enterprise grid. This system is worthy of being an economic tool for providing electricity services throughout the year and meeting rising energy demands in the household sector.

Abstract

Photovoltaics are systems that can convert sunlight into electrical energy. However, photovoltaic efficiency tends to be low, and its performance is affected by several environmental parameters such as dust, wind speed, humidity, temperature, and other external factors. Because there are many factors that can affect the power generated, we need a power output prediction system that can help in planning and managing as well as increasing the efficiency of photovoltaic systems. In this research, a system is designed that can predict the photovoltaic output power in the short term using the artificial neural network method or what is often called an artificial neural network. Predictions are made based on the effects of several environmental parameters such as wind speed, dust, humidity, and temperature on a 10 Wp photovoltaic system. Performance data for 7 days is used as a dataset and then processed using ANN with 1 input layer, 3 hidden layers, and 1 output layer, and 3 sample epochs (10, 100, and 1000). The results of the study can predict the output of photovoltaic power for the next 4 days with an error value of Mean Square Error (MSE) of 0.0010, Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.0155, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 0.0229 with an increase in power reaching 0.5 to 1 watt.

Abstract

Flooding is one of the natural disasters that frequently occur in Indonesia, especially in Bandung Regency, which is often affected by flooding due to river basins that cannot accommodate excess water. To address this problem, an Internet of Things (IoT)-based flood early warning system (FEWS) has been developed that can monitor river water levels and provide early notification to the public via the WhatsApp application. This study aims to design and test a user interface integrated with the FEWS system using ThingSpeak as the database and WhatsApp as the notification application. The methods used include data collection, requirements analysis, design, implementation, and system testing. The test results show that ThingSpeak is able to upload water level data in real time with an average delay of 11.5 seconds, and WhatsApp successfully sends water level category notifications to users in a timely manner. In conclusion, the developed system successfully provides accurate information and appropriate notifications to help the public take early evacuation steps during floods.
