Abstract

Many researches have been conducted in smart home topic. Mostly, they discussed on the specific aspect of application. On the other side, many applications still can be explored and attached into the system. Several main challenges in designing the application devices are system complexity, reliability, user friendliness, portability, and low power consumption. Thus, design of electronic driver is one of the key elements for overcoming these challenges. Moreover, the drivers have to comply the rules of smart home system, data protocol, and application purpose. Hence, we propose a rapid prototyping methodology on designing lightweight electronic drivers for smart home appliances. This methodology consists of three main aspects, namely smart home system understanding, circuitry concept, and programming concept. By using this method, functional and lightweight drivers can be achieved quickly without major changes and modifications in home electrical system. They can be remotely controlled and monitored anytime and from anywhere. For prototyping, we design several drivers to represent common electronic and mechanical based applications. Experimental results prove that the proposed design methodology can achieve the research target.

Abstract

Kata kunci— Aplikasi, Internet of Things, Ketinggian, Kualitas.

Abstract

Manual sorting of catfish is a labour-intensive process in catfish farming, requiring considerable time and effort. Therefore, an effective and user-friendly automated catfish grading system is required. Currently, several automated sorting systems have been developed using load cells, but these methods are inefficient as they require fish to be sorted one at a time. The method used in this system is similar to the concept of a coin sorter, where catfish flow through holes of different diameters according to their head size. In addition, the system uses a water pump to circulate water from the final storage tank back to the holding tank to help guide the fish to the sorting channel. The water flow rate of the pump can be adjusted using a dimmer, which works by limiting the voltage used by the pump. Testing of the grading system was carried out under two conditions, grading fish of the same size range and grading fish of a significantly different size range. The results showed that sorting fish of the same size range had a higher accuracy (86.1%) compared to sorting fish of a different size range (61.9%). An analysis of the effect of the dimmer on the pump was also carried out, showing that the dimmer can effectively control the water flow rate.

Abstract

Flooding is one of the natural disasters that frequently occur in Indonesia, especially in Bandung Regency, which is often affected by flooding due to river basins that cannot accommodate excess water. To address this problem, an Internet of Things (IoT)-based flood early warning system (FEWS) has been developed that can monitor river water levels and provide early notification to the public via the WhatsApp application. This study aims to design and test a user interface integrated with the FEWS system using ThingSpeak as the database and WhatsApp as the notification application. The methods used include data collection, requirements analysis, design, implementation, and system testing. The test results show that ThingSpeak is able to upload water level data in real time with an average delay of 11.5 seconds, and WhatsApp successfully sends water level category notifications to users in a timely manner. In conclusion, the developed system successfully provides accurate information and appropriate notifications to help the public take early evacuation steps during floods.

Abstract

Detecting epileptic seizures poses significant challenges due to the complex and variable nature of EEG signals, particularly when aiming for implementation in wearable devices. The use of 64-channel EEG electrodes, while comprehensive, is impractical for wearable applications due to their size, cost, and the high computational load required for processing. The use of a single-channel EEG wearable device offers notable advantages, including reduced size and cost, making it more practical and comfortable for continuous monitoring in daily life. Additionally, the lower computational load enhances battery life and allows for real-time data processing, which is critical for timely seizure detection and intervention. This research investigates the detection of epileptic seizures using various machine learning algorithms and the power spectrum feature extraction method from EEG signals, aiming for application in wearable devices with a single-channel electrode. The study applied random forest (RF), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), decision tree (DF), support vector mechine (SVM), and logistic regression algorithms to assess their effectiveness. Results revealed that the power spectrum extraction method notably improved seizure detection accuracy, with RF and KNN achieving 93% and 92% accuracy respectively when using all EEG channels. When limited to a single channel, SVM demonstrated the highest accuracy of 82% with channel 3. These findings underscore the efficacy of the power spectrum method for EEG signal processing, providing significant improvements in accuracy and computational efficiency. The study concludes that the proposed approach is promising for enhancing epileptic seizure detection, suggesting further optimization for real-time application in wearable devices to develop accurate and efficient diagnostic tools.

Abstract

The ideas of civic empowerment have transformed the discourse on sustainable suburban development, particularly through the active involvement of young people and the use of digital participatory media. This study, conducted in Manglayang, Bandung, employs an observational method using participatory action research to explore pathways toward the final evolutionary stage of sustainable development, focusing on rural agriculture and social, legal, and welfare citizenship. The research identifies key typologies of youth engagement in sustainable development, including social empowerment, entrepreneurship, and millennial agricultural movements, all facilitated by digital participatory media platforms. It also highlights a redefined notion of youth citizenship, emphasizing membership and participation in both civil and economic spheres through voluntary and profit-oriented activities. The findings reveal that this active, empowered form of citizenship, supported by digital participatory media, is a critical driver of modernization and sustainable economic development in Manglayang, Bandung.
