Abstract

The main goal of this research is to develop learning method which can improve the speaking skills of students at Management Program by implementing video recording tasks.  This research is Research and Development (RD) research employing the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) Model. The respondents in this study were 30 students who took part in English I subject of Management Program. The instruments used in this study were speaking evaluation sheet, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews. The research data was obtained from their responses to the questionnaire given related to the use of video recording tasks to improve the English-speaking skills of the students at Management study program. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that using a task-based approach to video recording can effectively help students improving their speaking skills. This can be shown that fluency, vocabulary, grammatical structure and pronunciation have P value lower than 0,05, meaning that those variables significantly support the use of video recording task to improve students speaking skills. Besides, students express their pleasure and positive perception of the method. In conclusion, the use of task-based video recording methods can effectively help students improve their oral skills, not only for exams, but also for their real life and future needs.  Additionally, students express their pleasant and positive views on this method.   Keywords: English Language, Speaking Skill, Video Recording Task

Abstract

The research entitled Implementation of Flipped Classroom in English learning at APMD Yogyakarta aims to help students understand English courses in the first semester of students. Flipped Classroom is one of the teaching methods where students get learning materials along with exercises and assignments (individual or group) in the form of videos and access them online through Google Classroom, to be done outside the classroom to be discussed during course hours. So, during class, what the teacher does is to review the material, discuss assignments or exercises, and answer questions from students who still don't understand the material given. Meanwhile, students who come to class are expected to have gained an understanding of the material presented. This method is tried to be applied to overcome the time constraints given for this course, which is only 1x a week for 2 hours of lectures (@ 45 minutes). It is hoped that by implementing this method, student will enhance their English skill and can easily understand the material presented marked by increasing students’ score.

Abstract

This community service activity involves religious counseling to MTsN Godean Sleman Yogyakarta Sleman Yogyakarta students. This effort aims to introduce religious values ​​to students as part of the character education method emphasized by the government, especially in the midst of increasing incidents of juvenile delinquency. The focus of this service program is to provide education about the history of the Hijrah event of the Prophet Muhammad SAW to students. Various methods are used in this program, including observation, outreach, evaluation, and lectures. This activity took place at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 5 Godean Sleman Yogyakarta. The results of this activity show that students gain motivation and enthusiasm to follow in the footsteps of the Hijrah inspired by the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Apart from that, this program also provides understanding and knowledge about the events of the Hijrah of the Prophet Muhammad from Makkah to Medina, which some MTsN Godean Sleman Yogyakarta Sleman Yogyakarta students may not have previously known.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the students’ writing skill through Teacher Feedback strategy at First Semester Students of English Letters Department UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta in 2024-2025. The subjects of this research were 27 students of A class.  This research used a cycle of Classroom Action Research, and it consisted of five meetings. The CAR cycle contents are Planning, Acting, Observing, and Reflecting. This research used two types of data, and they were qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were obtained through observations during the teaching learning activities. Moreover, the quantitative data were the scores of the students’ writing recount text before the implementation of the Feedback (pre-test) and after the implementation of the Feedback (post-test). The students’ pre-test scores showed that the total was 1250. In this degree, the mean that the researcher gained in students’ pre-test score was 46.30. Furthermore, the students’ post-test scores showed the total was 2062. In this degree, the mean that the researcher gained in students’ post-test was 76.37. It can be seen that there was an improvement on students’ mean scores. Most of the students’ scores were increased from the pre-test and the post-test scores. It was from 29.63% (8 students) who passed the minimum score to 81.48% (22 students) of the 27 students. It can be seen that there was a significant improvement from the percentage before and after treatments. In short, applying Teacher Feedback strategy in teaching learning process can significantly improve the writing skills of the students.

Abstract

Sudah menjadi keniscayaan Pengurus Pondok Pesantren Mahasiswa Stikes Surya Global harus mampu meningkatkan fungsi-fungsi manajemen, dan ini menjadi kewajiban dari setiap pengurus untuk mendorong dan memotivasi setiap mahasiswa santrinya untuk meningkatkan kecerdasan intelektual, kecerdasan spiritual, kecerdasan sosial, kecerdasan mental dan ide-ide kreatif sehingga dapat mengembangkan kemampuan, kemauan dan bakat dalam diri mahasiswa santri tersebut. Tujuan kegiatan abdimas ini adalah untuk menanamkan dan meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan beramal kegiatan pada mahasiswa santri Pondok Pesantren Mahasiswa Stikes Surya Global. Kegiatan Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh mahasiswa santri Pondok Pesantren Mahasiswa Stikes Surya Global. Kegiatan ini melibatkan tim dosen AMA Yogyakarta dalam upaya menjalin kerjasama dengan pihak Pondok Pesantren Mahasiswa Stikes Surya Global untuk meningkatkan minat dan bakatnya serta pembentukan karakter. Berdasarkan data hasil pengabdian di lapangan yang penulis lakukan, bahwa motivasi mahasiswa santri mempunyai kemampuan untuk hidup mandiri, menambah kemampuan daya hidup dan kemampuan berinteraksi sosial di lingkungan pondok pesantren.
