Abstract

This article explores the essential role of hadith in shaping a just and moral generation amidst modern-day challenges. Using a qualitative approach through literature studies, this research examines how the values of justice found in the Qur'an and hadith can be applied in daily life, particularly through the vital role of parents in character education. Hadith is viewed not only as a source of Islamic law but also as a moral and ethical guide that fosters a fair and harmonious society. The findings highlight that instilling the value of justice from an early age through parental example and hadith-based education is a key strategy in building a knowledgeable, faithful, and noble generation.

Abstract

This study examines the urgency of social media ethics in the perspective of hadith amid the rise of negative comments. The aim is to highlight the Prophet's words as guidelines for polite communication. A qualitative method of literature study was used with sources from hadith books and scientific literature. The results show that hate speech and digital bullying are contrary to Islamic teachings. The Prophetic Hadith encourages the creation of a healthy and moral digital space.

Abstract

The concept of ethics in islam related to responsibility for a clean environment, with a focus on the study of the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad Saw. In Islamic teachings, cleanliness is not only seen as a physical aspect, but also part of spirituality and faith. The hadiths of the Prophet show that maintaining cleanliness is one of the real manifestations of faith, and that every individual has a responsibility to create a clean and healthy environment. This article reveals several important aspects, including: Cleanliness as part of faith, collective responsibility for environmental cleanliness, the prohibition of damaging and polluting nature, and spiritual values in treating nature as a mandate from Allah SWT. In addition, this article also highlights the importance of implementing the teachings of the hadith on cleanliness in the context of modern life, as a solution to various environmental problem faced by humanity today. With a qualitative approach and study of hadith texts, this article emphasizes that maintaining a clean environment is an integral part of Islamic ethics that must continoue to be lived out in the daily practices of the people.

Abstract

Freedom of religion is one of the basic principles upheld in various modern legal and thought systems, including in the discourse of human rights. In Islam, the issue of religious freedom is often debated, especially regarding how the Qur'an and the Prophet Muhammad's hadith explain and apply it. This research aims to examine the concept of religious freedom in the perspective of the Prophet's hadith by using normative and contextual approaches. This research is a qualitative study based on library research with thematic analysis method of relevant hadiths. The normative approach is used to examine the values, norms, and teachings of Islamic law contained in the hadith text. Meanwhile, the contextual approach is used to understand the social, political, and cultural background when the hadith was delivered, so that the meaning of the hadith can be interpreted as a whole and not separated from its historical reality. The results show that the Prophet Muhammad upheld the principle of religious freedom through his speech and social practices, including in the Medina Charter and interactions with non-Muslim communities. Hadiths that support the principles of tolerance, protection of non-Muslims, and prohibition of religious coercion show that Islam substantially upholds religious freedom. This study concludes that through a normative and contextual understanding of hadith, Islam can be understood as a religion that is true to itself.

Abstract

This study explores the role of Hadith as a foundation for instilling the values of religious tolerance, with a focus on shaping the awareness of Generation Z in the contemporary era of technology and globalization. The Qur'an and the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad SAW emphasize respect for religious diversity and firmly prohibit intolerance, offering a strong theological basis for promoting harmonious coexistence. As a digitally active generation, Gen Z possesses significant potential to disseminate tolerance values through online platforms. Nevertheless, they face challenges such as disinformation, hate speech, and the spread of distorted religious interpretations, which may hinder the cultivation of inclusive attitudes. This research highlights that the integration of tolerance values requires methods aligned with Gen Z’s characteristics, including interactive discussions, the strategic use of social media, and educational approaches rooted in prophetic principles. By adopting such methods, religious teachings can be contextualized in a manner that resonates with Gen Z’s communication styles and digital literacy levels. The study employs a qualitative literature review to analyze relevant Hadith texts, their interpretations, and contemporary strategies for value transmission. The findings suggest that a combination of religious education, digital engagement, and community-based initiatives can effectively foster interfaith understanding and reduce intolerance among youth. Ultimately, this research offers a practical framework for educators, religious leaders, and policymakers to strengthen inter-religious tolerance by enhancing the comprehension and application of Hadith in addressing the unique challenges of the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth the values of tolerance from the perspective of hadith as an essential component of Islamic teachings that promote peace, respect, and coexistence within a multicultural society. Utilizing a qualitative approach through library research, the study draws from a range of primary sources such as hadith compilations and secondary sources including scholarly articles, books, and supporting documents. In hadith literature, tolerance is often articulated through terms like tasamuh and samahah, which imply generosity, openness, and acceptance of diversity. These values form the ethical basis for constructive interfaith dialogue and sustainable social harmony. Islam emphasizes that religious freedom and recognition of others' existence are fundamental human rights protected by divine revelation. Tolerance in Islam is proactive—it involves not only accepting differences but also promoting cooperation for the common good. Therefore, the principle of tolerance is pivotal in building an inclusive and peaceful society. This study affirms that the implementation of tolerance values is highly relevant in today's diverse world and aligns with the broader vision of Islam as a mercy to all creation (rahmatan lil 'alamin). Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara mendalam nilai-nilai toleransi dalam perspektif hadis sebagai bagian integral dari ajaran Islam yang mengedepankan kedamaian, penghormatan, dan hidup berdampingan dalam masyarakat multikultural. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif melalui metode studi kepustakaan, penelitian ini mengandalkan berbagai sumber primer seperti kitab-kitab hadis, serta sumber sekunder seperti artikel ilmiah, buku, dan dokumen pendukung lainnya. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa toleransi bukan hanya merupakan sikap sosial, melainkan juga ajaran teologis yang diinternalisasi dalam kehidupan Rasulullah SAW. Dalam hadis, toleransi diterjemahkan melalui istilah tasamuh atau samahah, yang bermakna kemurahan hati, kelapangan dada, dan sikap menerima perbedaan. Konsep ini memberikan dasar kuat untuk menciptakan ruang dialog antarumat beragama dan mendorong terciptanya kerukunan sosial yang berkelanjutan. Islam memandang bahwa kebebasan beragama dan penghormatan terhadap eksistensi orang lain adalah bagian dari fitrah manusia yang dijamin oleh wahyu. Toleransi dalam Islam bersifat aktif—tidak hanya membiarkan perbedaan, tetapi juga mengupayakan kolaborasi untuk kebaikan bersama. Oleh karena itu, nilai toleransi menjadi pondasi penting dalam pembangunan masyarakat inklusif yang damai dan adil. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa penerapan nilai-nilai toleransi dalam kehidupan beragama dan bermasyarakat sangat relevan dalam konteks global saat ini yang penuh dengan keragaman, serta merupakan bagian dari implementasi Islam sebagai rahmatan lil 'alamin.

Abstract

Contemporary hadith thought emerged as an attempt to address the challenges of modernity, which demands a more contextual understanding of Islamic teachings. Various new approaches, such as historical-critical, hermeneutics, and the maqasid al-shari'ah (the principles of Islamic jurisprudence), have been developed to connect hadith texts with modern social, political, and scientific realities. This article examines critiques and reflections on contemporary hadith thought through an interdisciplinary approach. The results show that although contemporary approaches make significant contributions to revitalizing the relevance of hadith, they have weaknesses such as potential relativism, deconstruction of hadith authority, and a disconnect with the classical tradition of hadith scholars. Interdisciplinary reflection offers a middle ground by integrating hadith studies with the social sciences, humanities, and sciences, allowing understanding of hadith to continue to develop without losing its normative authority. This article emphasizes the importance of dialogue between classical traditions and modern approaches in maintaining a balance between fidelity to the text and contextual needs. An interdisciplinary approach to hadith studies can bridge these gaps by fostering dialogue between traditional Islamic scholarship and modern academic fields such as social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences. By combining these disciplines, scholars can explore how hadith texts can be interpreted in ways that are both faithful to their original meaning and responsive to contemporary challenges. This integration can help preserve the normative authority of hadith while addressing modern issues such as ethics, politics, and technology. Ultimately, the interdisciplinary approach provides a framework for reconciling the classical and modern understandings of hadith, ensuring that the teachings of Islam remain relevant and authoritative in today’s rapidly changing world.
