Abstract

Disaster evacuation is a way for people to respond when a disaster occurs and not panic when a disaster occurs but plan what they will do to reduce the number of victims when a disaster occurs. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge of safety during an earthquake and the ability to self-evacuate. The research design is correlational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was 224 people, and 67 respondents were chosen with a purposive sampling technique. The independent variable is knowledge about safety during an earthquake, and the dependent variable is the ability to evacuate independently. The measuring instrument uses a questionnaire and data analysis using the Spearman rank test. The results of the study of respondents who are knowledgeable about safety during an earthquake in the good category show that almost half (37.3%) have good self-evacuation abilities. Respondents who are knowledgeable about safety during earthquakes in the moderate category indicate that a small proportion (10.4%) have sufficient self-evacuation capabilities. And respondents who are knowledgeable about safety during an earthquake in the poor category indicate that a small proportion (9%) have sufficient self-evacuation capability. The results of data analysis using the Spearman Rank test showed a significant value of 0.05 (0.018 0.05), so that H1 was accepted, meaning that there was a relationship between knowledge about safety during an earthquake and the ability to self-evacuate. Knowledge of earthquake disasters will make individuals know what they will do and are required to do when facing an earthquake disaster for their personal safety and those around them. It is recommended for students to further increase their knowledge of earthquake disasters so that they can improve their ability to self-evacuate in the face of disasters and reduce casualties.

The population is 48 students, a sample of 33 students consists of 5 student PMR cadres and 28 student members. PMR cadres of selected students from PMR Wira who will be empowered The sample is expected to be able to continue the positive affirmation technique throughout the PMR population. The community service instrument uses a questionnaire sheet. The results of the cadres before the intervention were all (100%) in the good category with a mean of 85 (good), after the intervention, all (100%) were in the very good category with a mean of 100 (very good). The results of the PMR members before the intervention were all (100%) in the poor category with a mean of 29.01, after the intervention, almost all (96.4%) were in the good category with a mean of 84.82 (good). This means that cadres and PMR members experienced an increase in the insight score on stress prevention. The results of the analysis showed that there was an increase in scores before and after the intervention for PMR cadres and members. The positive affirmation method is packaged in power points and demonstrations so that it is more interactive, interesting, effective, and insightful for respondents. It is better if the knowledge of stress prevention can be disseminated to all school members in an effort to prevent stress due to bullying and body shamming.

Abstract

The elderly may experience sleep disturbances which result in poor sleep quality. One of the ways to deal with poor sleep quality is slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy. This study aims to analyze the effect of slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy on sleep quality in the elderly. The design of this study was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design approach. The population of all elderly aged 60-74 years was 60 people, a sample of 18 respondents was taken using purposive sampling technique. The independent variables in this study are slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy and the dependent variable is sleep quality. Data collection in this study used a sleep quality questionnaire, namely the PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index). This study used the Wilcoxon test with a P-Value significance of 0.000 <α 0.05. The results of this study showed that the quality of sleep before being given slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy interventions were all (100%) in the bad category. After being given the intervention of slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy, almost all sleep quality (77.8%) was in the good category. There is an effect of slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy on sleep quality in the elderly with a P-Value of 0.000 <α0.05. The combination of slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy every day 20 minutes before going to bed at night can regulate the onset of sleep and provide a relaxing and sedative effect. The elderly are advised to apply slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy independently to improve sleep quality as an alternative if they experience sleep disturbances.
