Abstract

Smart Health Care System has been developed massively in the last decade. Internet of Things implementation has accelerated the development of smart health technology. Now people have realized the importance of doing independent health monitoring. Supported by more affordable e-health tools, motivation in using the smart health system is increasing. The availability of cloud as storage services triggers demands to always be connected to the Internet. However, there are times when interference occurs so the measurement results cannot be stored in the cloud database properly. The idea of using a store-forward mechanism to overcome the problem of disconnected smart healthcare system is proposed in this paper. From the test results, the data can be sent properly eventhough disconnected status occurs for 30 minutes. Smartwatch’s memory usage has increase 30 percent during temporary storage occupied.

Abstract

Background: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a symptomatic compression neuropathy of the median nerve characterized by increased pressure in the carpal tunnel and decreased nerve function due to compression of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. The purpose of the hydrodissection injection method in CTS is to separate the soft tissue adhesions that cause nerve compression and this method are known for being minimally invasive, fast healing, and easy to apply. Local injection of triamcinolone acetonide (TCA) is often used as therapy for CTS because it stabilizes the sodium channels and reduces abnormal stimulatio, thus it relieved the pain. 5% dextrose injection (D5W) is also widely used as therapy of CTS because it is harmless to nerves and may reduce neurogenic inflammation through inhibition of capsaicin-sensitive receptors. Aim: To compare the effectivity of hydrodissection injection therapy using ultrasound guidance with triamcinolone acetonide and 5% dextrose in CTS. Methods: This study recruited 30 participants who diagnosed with CTS and met the inclusion criteria. Participants were divided into two treatment groups, the first group (n=15) was given 1ml TCA injection and 1 ml lidocaine 2%, while the second group (n=15) was given 5% 5 ml Dextrose injection. The parameters measured in this study were NRS, FSS, and SSS value before injection and 4 weeks after injection of the agent. We compared these parameters at week four after injection between the TCA group and the D5W group. Results: NRS values before and 4 weeks after TCA injection (sig 0.001; p <0.05), FSS values (sig 0.020; p <0.05), and SSS values (sig 0.001; p <0.05). NRS before and 4 weeks after injection of D5W (sig 0.002; p <0.05), FSS (sig 0.001; p <0.05), and SSS (sig 0.000; p <0.05). Comparison between TCA injection and D5W injection at 4 weeks after the injection showed that the results was significantly different on NRS (sig 0.806; p> 0.05) for FSS (sig 0.512; p> 0.05) and SSS (sig 0.293; p> 0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant difference in NRS, FSS and SSS values at 4 weeks after hydrodissection injection, using either TCA or D5W. TCA hydrodissection injection compared to D5W hydrodissection injection was equally effective in improving NRS, FSS and SSS after 4 weeks of injection.

DLP (2) Dian Kusumaningtyas, S.Si.T., M.Keb Background: Stress is a condition when a person is unable to accept the demands and pressures that exist. Sleep quality can be assessed by sleep duration, sleep latency, sleep disturbance and daytime functioning. Poor sleep quality can cause physiological function disorders in the body, especially hormonal disorders related to the menstrual cycle. Every woman will experience a different menstrual cycle based on the condition of their individual bodies. Menstruation can be affected by stress levels and sleep quality. Objective: Knowing the relationship between sleep quality and stress levels with the menstrual cycle in final year midwifery students FK UB. Methods: This study used a cross sectional design. The sample used according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria was 63 students. This research instrument used PSQI questionnaire, DASS questionnaire and menstrual cycle questionnaire. Bivariate analysis was performed with Chi Square test and Fisher's Exact test, and multivariate analysis was performed with logistic regression test. Results: There was no significant relationship between sleep quality and menstrual cycle (p-value 0.584) and there was no significant relationship between stress level and menstrual cycle (p-value 0.469) in final year Midwifery students FK UB. More in-depth research is needed related to other factors that cause students' menstrual cycles to be disrupted. Keywords: Sleep Quality, Stress Level, Menstrual Cycle.

Abstract

Introduction: Children with disabilities/chronic illnesses often have difficulties in socializing and tend to have a low self-image. Parents, as the main children’s self-image-forming factor, also ex-perience difficulties in dealing with their children. This study aims to increase children’s and parents’ knowledge about self-image and acceptance, hence improving children’s self-image. Methods: A quasi-experimental research study with the intervention of three modules for children and parents was carried out between June and September 2022. Thirty children and their parents from the Community for Empowerment of Parents of Children with Special Needs, the Heart Warrior Community, and the Foundation for De-velopment of Disabled Children were included. Pretest and posttest were measured and statistically tested using the Wilcoxon test. At the end of the interventions, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Self-Harm Inventory, Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, and Pediatric Quality of Life were measured. Results: There was a sig-nificant increase in knowledge on 3 child modules and 1 parent module. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale score is 17.17 ± 2.618 (good self-image); the Self-Harm Inventory score is 2.18 ± 3.275 (low risk of self-injury); the Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire score is 18.37 ± 5.230 (moderate difficulty); and the Pediatric Qual-ity of Life value is 34.64 ± 12.077 (good quality of life). Conclusion: The self-image strengthening module intervention is effective in increasing children’s and parents’ knowledge. Children with dis-abilities/chronic illnesses have a good self-image, low self-harm tendencies, and relatively good quality of life.

Abstract

Liquid medical waste containing pathogens and hazardous chemicals can pollute the environment and endanger human health. The increasing volume of waste during the COVID-19 pandemic adds urgency to find effective and sustainable treatment methods. However, environmentally friendly and efficient solutions are still limited. This study aims to explore the utilization of activated carbon from two local bamboo species, Gigantochloa apus (GA) and Bambusa vulgaris (BV) as alternative adsorbents in the treatment of liquid medical waste. Two-year-old bamboo was traditionally carbonized and activated using 0.3 M sodium chloride solution. The 50 mesh charcoal powder was tested using BET surface area analysis with QUADRASORB evo™ instrument, morphology using FESEM (FEI Quanta 650), and pollutant reduction efficiency through pH, TDS (HAIK EZ 9909), COD (HACH DBR 200 closed reflux method), and BOD (Winkler method with BOD 6 VELP system) measurements. The results showed that GA activated carbon exhibited a much higher adsorption capacity due to its larger BET surface area compared to BV. In addition, pH and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) analysis showed that wastewater treated with GA activated carbon exhibited a greater reduction in TDS levels. The study also evaluated the reduction of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), which confirmed that GA provided higher pollutant removal efficiency than BV. These findings underscore the potential of GA and BV as effective adsorbents for medical wastewater treatment, offering a sustainable solution to improve water quality and reduce environmental impacts associated with liquid medical waste.
