Abstract

Curly chili (Capsicum annum L.) is a horticultural plant that is included in the vegetable commodity. Production of curly chilies in Indonesia is still unstable so the need for curly chilies is not met so production needs to be increased. This research aimed to determine the effect of the optimal dose of guano fertilizer and concentration of the Atonik Growth Regulator on the yield of curly chili plants The research location is on cultivated land of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur. This research used a factorial experiment which was prepared using a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is the dose of guano fertilizer (G) consisting of G0: control, G1: 30 g / polybag, G2 : 60 g / polybag, and G3 : 90 g / polybag. The second factor is the atonic ZPT concentration consisting of A0: control, A1: 2 cc/liter, and A2: 4 cc/liter. Observation indicators consist of observations of the vegetative and generative phases. Research data will be analyzed using variance (ANOVA) and if it is significantly different it will be tested further using the Least Significant Difference (BNT) at the 5% level. The results of the research showed that the application of guano and atonic fertilizers affected the yield of curly chili plants with the most effective combination being a dose of guano fertilizer of 90 g/polybag and an atonic concentration of 4 cc/liter.

Abstract

Garlic is widely recognized for its culinary, industrial, and medicinal applications, attributed to its sulfur compounds and allicin, which contribute to its pungent taste and distinctive aroma. This study, conducted in Sajen Village, Pacet District, Mojokerto, from January to May 2024, aimed to evaluate the effects of Phonska NPK and silica fertilizers on garlic production. A factorial experimental design with two factors was employed using a Split-Plot Design within a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The main plots were treated with silica fertilizer at concentrations of 0 g/L, 5 g/L, 10 g/L, and 15 g/L, while the subplots received Phonska NPK fertilizer at rates of 0 kg/ha (control), 400 kg/ha, 600 kg/ha, and 800 kg/ha. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the HSD test at a 5% significance level. Results indicated that the combination of 0 g/L silica fertilizer and 800 kg/ha Phonska NPK fertilizer yielded the highest garlic production. Although the individual application of Phonska NPK fertilizer did not have a significant effect, the absence of silica fertilizer (0 g/L) significantly influenced leaf width and the development of generative structures. Keywords: Harvest, Nutrient, Potassium, Tuber size.

Abstract

Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is a horticultural crop which production is not comparable to the level of public consumption. Chili plants induced by gamma irradiation experienced character changes, which caused the population of mutant accessions to have a diversity of characters. The similarity test of mutant accessions was carried out to determine the relationship distance between accessions. The research was carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture, UPN "Veteran" East Java, Surabaya City, with a geographical location at 7⁰ 9' - 7⁰ 21' South Latitude and at 112⁰ 36' - 112⁰ 54' East Longitude. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design, with 3 replications of each, also using one factor, namely mutant ( ) or genotype resulting from gamma ray irradiation mutations of cayenne pepper. Heritability tests were also carried out in this study. The results of the heritability test showed that the characteristics of plant height, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit weight per plant, and number of fruit per plant had high heritability values, namely above 30%. The result of similarity test visualized by the dendogram shows that 10 mutant accessions and the parental have a similarity coefficient ranging at 21% to 78%. The lowest similarity coefficient is owned by M2 accession, specifically at 21%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the response of soybean varieties tolerant to salinity stress and the impact of NaCl on the growth and yield of soybean. The study was completely designed randomly with two factors, repeated four times. First factor was NaCl concentration consisting of four levels (0; 2.5; 5; and 7.5 g/l), and second factor was soybean varieties (Wilis and Anjasmoro). The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA followed by HSD test of 5%. Observation variables included plant height, number of leaves, number of productive branches, number of pods per plant, and weight of 100 seeds. Results showed that both NaCl concentration and soybean variety had no significant effect on plant height, number of pods, and weight of 100 seeds. The interaction of NaCl concentration and variety significantly affected the number of leaves and the number of productive branches. Results showed that Anjasmoro variety with no NaCl (0 g/l) treatment revealed the highest number of leaves, namely 5.50 strands. Whiles, the combination of 7.5 g/l NaCl and Wilis variety produced the highest productive branches, namely 4.25 branches. The results of this study are to provide information on the use of saline land in soybean plants by knowing the resistance of soybean varieties to salinity.

Abstract

Tofu liquid waste contains organic materials that can be utilized as liquid organic fertilizer (LOF). This study aims to determine the effect of dose and interval of LOF from tofu liquid waste on tomato plants (Lycopersicum esculentum. L). This study, conducted from April to July 2024 in Gajah Bendo Village, Pasuruan, examined the impact of tofu liquid waste-based Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) on tomato plants (Lycopersicum esculentum. L). Utilizing a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors in triplicates, the researchers tested four dosage levels (0, 100, 200, and 300 ml/plant) and three application intervals (6, 10, and 14 days).  The results of the study found that the combination of LOF tofu liquid waste dosage at a dose of 300 mL/plant with an application interval of 14 days resulted in the fastest flowering age compared to other treatment combinations. However, the combination of dosage and application interval treatments did not significantly affect the parameters of plant height, number of fruits, and fruit sets. The LOF application even tended to reduce the harvest weight of tomato fruit compared to the control treatment. Future research can focus on the optimal fermentation time of liquid waste to prepare LOF and apply the LOF on tomato plants under more controlled conditions such as in a greenhouse.

Abstract

Glutinous corn (Zea mays ceratina L.) is a distinctive variety known for its unique starch characteristics and high economic value. One of the challenges affecting glutinous corn plants' productivity is the soil's low nutrient content. To address this issue, improving the fertilization system is essential, which can be achieved by balancing the application of chemical fertilizers and organic fertilizers within the cultivation system. This study aims to identify the optimal doses of liquid organic fertilizer and NPK 16-16-16 fertilizer to enhance crop yields and improve fertilization efficiency. The research employed a factorial randomized block design (RAK) with two factors. The first factor is the dose of liquid organic fertilizer (C), which includes the following levels: control (without POC), 2 ml/l, 4 ml/l, and 6 ml/l. The second factor consists of the control (recommended dose of 4.5 g/plant) and doses of 2.25 g/plant, 3 g/plant, and 3.75 g/plant. Reason: Improved clarity, readability, and technical accuracy while maintaining the original meaning. The results indicated an interaction between the combination of liquid organic fertilizer and NPK 16-16-16 fertilizer treatments concerning the sugar content of glutinous corn. The treatment without applying liquid organic fertilizer (0 ml/l) yielded the highest cob weight without husks, measuring 211.22 g. Additionally, the application of NPK 16-16-16 fertilizer resulted in glutinous corn's most significant plant height at both 14 and 42 days after planting (DAP). It contributed positively to the sugar content of the corn.
