Abstract

The role of education is to produce quality human resources and possessing knowledge and skills in the field of cloth, of course, can only be obtained through a maximally managed learning process. This study aims to determine the effect of learning methods and learning media on the level of knowledge and skills and their impact on the creativity of making clothes for PKK FT UNM (Family Welfare Education Department, Engineering Faculty, Universitas Negeri Makassar) students. The design of this study used quantitative correlations using path analysis to see direct and indirect causality relationships through intermediary variables and developed into the analysis of Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The population in this study were all students who had programmed the Course for Making Cloth totalling 135 people. The results of the study showed: (1) The learning method has a significant effect on the level of knowledge but did not affect the skills and creativity of making dresses in the PKK FT UNM  students; (2) Learning media does not significantly influence the level of knowledge and skills in making clothes but gives a significant influence on the creativity of making clothes; (3) The level of knowledge has a significant effect on the level of skill and the level of creativity in making clothes at the PKK FT UNM  students but the skill level does not significantly influence the creativity of making clothes for PKK FT UNM  students.

Abstract

AbstractTofu is one of the highly nutritious food ingredients, a source of vegetable protein that is needed by the community, has a relatively low price so that it can be reached by the community, and can replace rather expensive animal protein sources. Bojong Sempu Village, Parung District, Bogor Regency, is a tofu production centre village with business actors included in the Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah (UMKM) criteria. One of the partners' problems is the need for a wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) for tofu liquid waste. This service informs tofu artisans about processing liquid waste by adsorbing activated charcoal from empty palm oil bunches (Arif-Takosa). The activities carried out in the implementation of community service are counselling, filling out pretest and post-test questionnaires for participants, submitting drums for processing tofu liquid waste, stainless steel pans, Arif-Takosa and monitoring liquid waste storage and tofu liquid waste disposal channels. The results achieved by counselling on making Arif-Takosa and processing tofu liquid waste increased the knowledge and understanding of tofu artisans about making Arif-Takosa and processing tofu liquid waste. We have seen this from the post-test after counselling. Each tofu artisan was given a drum and Arif-Takosa for processing tofu liquid waste at the factory. Based on monitoring at partner locations, the liquid waste from tofu production had not been processed and was immediately discharged into the environment.

Abstract

Bogor Regency in one of the coffee producers in west Java, including  coffee from Barengkok Village, Leuwiliang District, Bogor Regency.  So far, farmers in post-harvest processing of coffee cherries only process coffee beans, while the skin is removed so that it becomes waste that is not utilized. Whereas from the coffee skin, there are many ingredients that are very beneficial for health, including rich in antioxidants, but the knowledge and skills of farmers in processing coffee bean waste are still low, so there is a need for education for the people of Barengkok Village. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and skills of the Women Farmers Group (KWT) through education and training in processing coffee bean waste into Cascara as a health drink, so that it has economic value.  The method of implementing this activity uses counseling, demonstrations and training on Cascara production, production management and product marketing strategies.  Partners in this activity were the Pelangi Gunung Suling Women Farmer Group (KWT), totaling 18 people. To see the success of the program, it was carried out through the pretest and posttest analyzed by quantitative descriptive.  The results of the activity showed that there was an increase in partner knowledge in processing coffee skin waste from unknowing to 94.4% knowing and understanding, the participants were very enthusiastic about participating in this empowerment activity as seen from the number of attendees who were 100% present from beginning to end. Coffee skin waste can be of economic value through processing health drinks, thus making it a new business opportunity.

Abstract

Empty palm oil bunches (TKKS) are waste that has not been utilized optimally by palm oil mills and degraded in nature for a relatively long time. The most significant component in EFB is cellulose, so it needs to be degraded.  This research aims to obtain mold from EFB, which is undergoing decomposition and has the potential to degrade cellulose so that the mold can later be used to break down the cellulose in EFB. The research began by measuring the temperature and pH of the TKKS samples in the middle and upper parts, followed by sampling. The sampling location was at the PTPN III Cikasungka Bogor Palm Oil Factory (PKS), which is located in Mekarjaya village, Cigudeg, Bogor Regency.  The isolation results obtained 19 mold isolates, and then the isolates were grown on carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) media to test their cellulolytic potential. Microscopic observations of molds that can grow on CMC media are generally thought to be the genus Fusarium sp., Aspergillus sp., Rhizopus sp., Mucor sp., Phanerochaete sp., and Penicillium sp.   The cellulolytic potential test results showed that 18 mold isolates were obtained, three of which were in the high cellulolytic potential category, namely isolates JM313, JM105, and JM518, with cellulolytic indexes of 5.25 respectively, 2.98 and 2.06.
