Abstract

Islamic stocks in Indonesia face challenges in portfolio management due to the limited number of issuers and low diversification. The change in market regime from bullish to bearish makes the portfolio more vulnerable, especially since some investors do not understand the concept of portfolio and the importance of determining optimal asset weighting. In addition, the allocation strategy used tends to be static and minimizes the utilization of sharia-based technical analysis, making investment decisions less responsive to market dynamics. This study aims to compare the performance of two portfolio allocation algorithms, which integrate Markov-switching models and Heiken Ashi candlestick patterns for trend identification, respectively. The research method used is a quantitative approach with experimental techniques or computational simulations that aim to test the performance of the algorithm in producing optimal portfolio weights. The portfolio model developed is an extension of the Markowitz model with two different integration approaches, namely the Markov-switching model and the Heiken Ashi candlestick pattern. Portfolio weight optimization on each algorithm is performed using the Generalized Reduced Gradient (GRG) method. The Markov-switching model is a time series model used to identify changes in the average market regime. In contrast, the Heiken Ashi pattern is used to detect trend changes in stock price movements. The time series data used consists of daily stock prices of Islamic stocks listed in the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) during the period January 2019 to August 2022, obtained from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This study finds that the Markowitz model integrated with the Markov-switching model is able to effectively identify market regimes and improve efficiency in portfolio weight optimization. These findings provide valuable insights for Islamic equity investors in their risk mitigation efforts while helping to align expected returns with long-term investment strategies that are adaptive to bullish and bearish market conditions.

Abstract

Abstract

This study investigates the performance of hybrid cutting fluids derived from rubber seed oil and coconut oil in the turning of Aluminium 6061 using the Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) technique. The research aims to evaluate the influence of cutting fluid flow rate and coconut oil concentration on surface roughness. Turning experiments were conducted at a spindle speed of 500 rpm, a feed rate of 0.011 mm/rev, and a depth of cut of 0.5 mm. The cutting fluid flow rates were set at 50, 100, and 150 ml/h, while the coconut oil content was varied at 5%, 10%, and 15%. Each experimental condition was repeated three times to ensure data reliability. The results show that increasing both the fluid flow rate and the coconut oil fraction consistently reduces surface roughness. The minimum surface roughness of 0.924 µm was obtained at a flow rate of 150 ml/h with 15% coconut oil. These findings indicate that hybrid vegetable-oil-based cutting fluids are a promising biodegradable alternative for sustainable, precision-turning applications.

Abstract

The use of electric sprayers for pesticide application in Jipang Village, Blora, faces challenges due to battery dependency, often leading to inefficiencies when batteries deplete mid-operation. This study evaluates the performance of a hybrid sprayer integrated with a 10W monocrystalline solar panel and a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) charge controller to optimize field battery charging. Experimental methods included measuring solar irradiance (using a lux meter), voltage, current, and system efficiency across three days (21 May, 29 May, and 1 June 2025) at hourly intervals (08:00–16:00 WIB). Results indicate peak efficiency (15–18%) during morning hours (08:00–10:00 WIB) under high irradiance (900–1045 W/m²), while afternoon efficiency dropped to 7–13% due to declining sunlight intensity and suboptimal solar angles. The highest power loss (60–71W) occurred at 09:00–10:00 WIB, attributed to energy conversion limitations. The study concludes that solar-hybrid sprayers are viable for agricultural use, provided battery charging is prioritized in the morning. This solution enhances operational efficiency while reducing carbon emissions and fossil fuel reliance.

Abstract

To improve customer satisfaction, this study discusses the design of a snack seasoning mixing machine to improve the efficiency and consistency of the mixing process in the food industry. The main problems faced by businesses are uneven seasoning distribution and long production times when the process is performed manually. The methods used included identifying user needs, mechanical and electrical design, material selection, and prototype development using an electric motor as the main drive and mixing shaft in a stainless steel container. Testing was conducted to determine the machine's performance in mixing seasonings. The results showed that the machine was able to mix seasonings within 2-3 minutes with stable operation, low power consumption, and produced a more homogeneous mixture compared to the manual process. In addition, the machine is easy to operate and maintain, making it suitable for application in small- and medium-sized businesses. The conclusion of this study is that the designed snack seasoning mixer has good performance, is capable of improving production quality and efficiency, and has the potential to be further developed to increase its capacity and durability.
