Abstract

In the context of agricultural entrepreneurship in Indonesia, this quantitative study explores the intricate relationships that exist between community engagement, knowledge transfer, technology adoption, community food security, and agricultural sustainability. To look into the connections between these crucial factors, the study included 350 agricultural entrepreneurs from various parts of Indonesia in a representative sample. Structural equation modeling using partial least squares (SEM-PLS) was used to gather and analyze data. The findings provided insights into the significance of community engagement, knowledge sharing, and technological advancement in guaranteeing food security. They also confirmed the significant positive direct effects of community participation, knowledge transfer, and technology adoption on community food security. Furthermore, the research findings indicate that the relationship between agricultural sustainability and community engagement is mediated by knowledge transfer and technological adoption, underscoring their crucial function in advancing sustainable agricultural practices. These results add to our knowledge of the dynamics of agricultural entrepreneurship in Indonesia and have important ramifications for stakeholders and policymakers who want to enhance the region's agricultural sustainability and food security.

Abstract

Gorontalo City is the capital city of Gorontalo Province; however, in some places in Gorontalo City, there are still scattered agricultural lands and most of the agricultural land is surrounded by buildings and housing. The purpose of this study was to determine the survival strategy of urban farmers in Gorontalo City and analyze income based on the cost of living for farmers and their families. Secondary data in this study were obtained from the Agricultural Extension Center (BPP) and the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) or relevant sources in the form of data on the number of farmers in Gorontalo City. This study uses a mixed-methods approach, namely quantitative and qualitative approaches. Primary data were obtained from interviews with research informants, with a limit on the number of informants to as many as 30 farmers. The primary data collection instrument was divided into two types: questionnaire A for all informants and questionnaire B for 10 informant farmers (with the criteria of separate land from other farmers' land) through the in-depth interview method. A qualitative approach with interactive analysis of the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that the income of rice farmers was Rp. 489.586348 with 27 farmers, tomato commodities were Rp. 20.991.667 with 2 farmers, and mustard commodities were Rp. 5.160.000 with 1 farmer. The total family living cost of the respondents per month is Rp. 87,799,980. In general, farmers use a double-income strategy to meet the needs of their families, such as pulling bentor (ngojek), workshops, and construction workers

Abstract

This research investigates the key determinants of sustainability in the chicken farming industry, focusing on the interplay between marketing strategy, modern livestock technology implementation, resource availability, and the overall sustainability of chicken farming businesses. Utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), data from a sample of chicken farmers in the study region were analyzed to assess the relationships among these variables. The results highlight the significant positive impacts of a well-executed marketing strategy, adoption of modern livestock technology, and resource availability on the sustainability of chicken farming operations. The findings provide actionable insights for industry stakeholders to enhance their strategies and practices, contributing to a more sustainable and resilient chicken farming sector.
