Abstract

Nonparametric regression is a flexible approach used to determine the relationship between the predictor variable and the response variable is unknown. One method that can be used to estimate nonparametric regression models is the truncated spline. The truncated spline is an effective method to estimate nonparametric regression models due to its ability to adapt to the data's characteristics through knots. Truncated spline estimates its parameters with the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) method and finds the optimal knot points with the minimum generalized cross validation (GCV) value. This study used the truncated spline to model diarrhea cases in Bali Province, examining five variables that could affect incidence. The optimal knot points were 2-1-3-3-2 with a minimum GCV value of 67572,38. The study found that the number of clean drinking water facilities, food management places that meet health requirements, public places that meet health requirements, population density, and access to proper sanitation facilities had a significant effect on diarrhea incidence. The coefficient of determination for this model is 98,87%.

Abstract

The happiness index is a measure that reflects individual well-being, thus playing an important role in the development of a region. The level of happiness in Indonesia is still significantly lower compared to other ASEAN countries. In relation to efforts to improve the happiness index in Indonesia, this study applies the K-means method to cluster the 34 provinces of Indonesia based on the indicators of the happiness index for the year 2021. The data used is sourced from publications by the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics with seven happiness index indicators and employing the Minkowski distance. The clustering results of the 34 provinces using the K-means method obtained four clusters with a cluster accuracy value of 71 percent. Cluster 1 consists of seven provinces with a fairly high average of seven attributes, cluster 2 consists of seven provinces is a cluster with a low average level of internal and external satisfaction, cluster 3 consists of four provinces with a high average of seven attributes, and cluster 4 consists of 16 provinces is a cluster with provinces with a fairly high average level of external satisfaction, but a low level of internal satisfaction.

Abstract

One of the health problems faced by the Indonesian people and related stakeholders is the potential for extraordinary events (KLB) caused by the spread of endemic diseases, including pulmonary tuberculosis, diarrhea, dengue hemorrhagic fever, and malaria. As infectious diseases, these four diseases are classified as endemic considering that their potential for emergence is closely related to the topography of an area. This research aims to elaborate and study the relationship between pulmonary tuberculosis, diarrhea, dengue fever, and malaria with the topography of 57 sub-districts in Bali Province using correspondence analysis. Using secondary data from 9 city district health offices in Bali regarding the number of each disease in 2022. The topography of the 57 sub-districts in Bali Province is classified into 4 altitude groups, namely lowland, low-medium plains, medium-high plains, and low-high plains. The contingency table as the main data for analysis is a matrix of size 4 × 4. The results of the analysis show that pulmonary tuberculosis tends to be observed in the low-high plains, diarrhea tends to occur in low-medium plains and medium-high plains, while dengue hemorrhagic fever and malaria tend to be observed in the lowlands.

Abstract

Abstract

Good development and economic growth increase the opportunities for people in the related areas to become more prosperous so that they can become a benchmark for the country's economy. One way that can be used to measure the level of development and economic growth is through microeconomic indicators such as the unemployment rate. Detailed information on the unemployment rate will certainly be a good consideration in the formation of economic policy. The development of estimation methods up to a very small area is very well used to estimate a parameter in a small area where there is not an adequate sample for use in direct estimation. This study discusses the unemployment rate at the sub-district level in Bali Province in 2020 with the result that estimating a small area using the empirical best linear unbiased prediction method gives a smaller mean square error value than the direct estimation method. The results obtained are that East Denpasar District has the largest unemployment rate of 8.49%.

Abstract

This study identifies the factors used in factor analysis that influence the compliance of the people of Bali Province to the COVID-19 health protocol. Based on the factor analysis results, the elimination of four variables from the initial 20 variables in the study because the low communality value was below 0.5. Thus, reducing the remaining 16 variables to six factors with a total variance of 74.8%. Six factors influenced Community compliance in Bali Province, namely someone who knows about the importance of health protocols (19,1%), trust in protocols (15,9%), someone infected with COVID-19 (12,2%), a sense of concern for themselves and their families (10,1%), government supervision and sanctions (9,3%), and the affordable price of masks (8,2%). Observing this study, the first factor that played a role in increasing adherence was knowledge about the importance of health care. There was a sense of trust in health protocols, and a less influential factor was the affordability of masks

Abstract

Students’ academic performances is an important factor as it affects students’ chances of higher education and job opportunities. While cognitive factor (e.g., intelligence quotient) plays a major role in students’ performances in academic environment, it does not guarantee students’ academic achievement. Instead, researches shows that non-cognitive factor can affects student performance as well. Three non-cognitive factor that will be researched in this study are motivation, self-related beliefs, and engagement. Using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) as the method of choice to accommodate the study of the factors. 699 of students’ sample was taken from six public high school in Denpasar to conduct the research. SEM is used for its ability to analyze latent factors using measurement model and its ability to estimate multiple structural relation simultaneously. The model with a Goodness-of-fit (GFI) score of 0.981 confirms that Motivation does significantly directly affects student performances. Self-related beliefs and Engagement on the other hand significantly directly affects Motivation, hence the two constructs significantly indirectly affect student achievement.

Abstract

The fashion industry is an attractive and profitable business option. Currently, the need for fashion that reflects personality is very important, because first impressions have significant value. Someone who is able to give a positive first impression will be more accepted, appreciated and recognized by others. In this context, shoes are one of the crucial fashion products in improving appearance. Shoes selection is important so that consumers get maximum shoes and according to consumer preferences. One analysis that can be used to determine consumer preferences is conjoin analysis. This study aims to determine the level, attributes, and stimulus most considered by respondents in choosing expedition services by applying the full-profile method to conjoin analysis in forming a stimulus. The attributes and levels used are types of shoes models (loafers, bots, and convers), types of shoes materials (genuine leather, synthesis, and canvas), and shoe designs (high and low). The results of research conducted on 100 respondents show that the most prioritised attribute with a value of 0.437 is the type of shoe material. The level with the largest part-worth of each attribute is genuine leather (22.075). The most favourite stimulus is the high design bots shoe model using genuine leather.

Abstract

Coffee beverages have become a highly sought-after product, particularly in tourist areas that are favoured by both local and foreign tourists. For this reason, there are many business owners who want to expand their business with coffee as the main menu. Cafe Nectar Bali, not far from the tourist attraction Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK), is one of the places frequented by both locals and foreign tourists. The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics consumers often consider when consuming processed coffee products at Cafe Nectar Bali and to understand the preferences of local residents and foreign tourists regarding processed coffee products offered. The research method used is the analysis of local and foreign tourist preferences using conjoint analysis techniques. The findings show that consumers are prioritizing the type of coffee and how it is served. Both locals and foreign tourists value the diversity feature more than the presentation method feature. Local consumers choose the stimulus of latte variant and hot serving methods. On the other hand, foreign tourists chose the stimulus of latte variant and the cold serving method. Abstract

The nonparametric exploratory is a method that can be used to see the relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variable. One of the types of nonparametric exploratory methods is the CART. CART is a method that presents large amounts of data to be processed in the form of a decision tree so that it becomes valuable and easy to understand information. This research aims to build a decision tree model based on medical records from patients with liver cirrhosis using the CART. This research also used 16 independent variables of 276 data that will be used as research objects. The results of this study obtained a decision tree model with an independent variable. The first used as the root node is hepatomegaly because the hepatomegaly variable has a more homogeneous value compared to the other independent variables and that there were eight groups in this research. However, due to the nature of the CART method which is unstable and very sensitive to new data, and highly dependent on the number of samples, the accuracy rate in this study is less than 70%, this is because the data in one group is unbalanced if compared to data in the other group.
