The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, the primary data source comes from unstructured interviews by interviewing local bosses, fishermen, and employees (state apparatus). The results of this study indicate that the presence of local bossism in the distribution of diesel fuel at the Nusantara Fishing Port of Sungailiat is a product resulting from the conspiracy and collusion of the state apparatus with local bosses. What arises from the existence of power possessed by the state apparatus and the "social authority" that exists in local bosses in controlled communities is what causes bosses or bossism to emerge and continue to grow as local political forces. The factors behind the phenomenon of local bossism are (1) the strong position of local bosses, (2) protection from state apparatus and state apparatus, and (3) community dependence on local bosses.

Abstract

The most commonly used by various elements in defining Tionghoa identity is by dividing it into main dichotomy, i.e. totok and peranakan. Nevertheless, totok and peranakan definition themselves have limits that keep continuously debated. Totok is generally understood from the side of its birth and Tionghoa Puritanism, while peranakan is comprehended as identity that mixes each other with locality. As the time goes by, totok and peranakan dichotomy are not relevant anymore. Recent politic development has led to Tionghoa identity option measured singly by the level of more liquid flexibility.

Abstract

Ethnic Chinese is an ethnic group that has long been part of the people of Bangka Island. The harmonious relationship between the ethnic Chinese and the indigenous population shows that the habituation process is going well so that their existence is accepted as a social reality. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods to collect data from interviews and observations in regencies/municipalities within Bangka Island. This research finds that the existence of the Chinese ethnicity has been processed by strengthening the four main capitals of the Chinese ethnicity (Bourdieu’s view): economic capital, social capital, cultural capital, and symbolic capital. Capital control has encouraged good role-sharing politics because capital control is carried out transformatively. It is not surprising that the Chinese minority subculture, although in many ways it feels dominant, can still be accepted as a social reality that forms intercultural harmony on Bangka island.

Abstract

Since ancient times, the Bangka Belitung Islands have been known as one of the world’s largest tin producers. Mining has taken place massively since tin is no longer a strategic commodity, marked by the issuance of several policies that grant permits to anyone to mine tin. Mining, which was originally mostly carried out on land, over time and needed in the economic aspect, has also been carried out at sea. As a result, mining, mostly carried out without permits, impacts environmental damage and other legal and social aspects. In fact, from a regulatory standpoint, the government has issued laws and regulations that serve as references in environmental management, including its relation to the mining sector. This study aims to determine awareness of environmental law in unconventional tin mining activities in the Bangka Belitung Islands. Judging from its type, this research is analytical descriptive research, describing an object through which the data obtained is processed and analyzed to conclude. The research was conducted in all regencies/municipalities in the Bangka Belitung Islands. From the research that has been done, the result is that even though they know, the fact is that most of the mining is carried out without permits, plus there has never been, and there has been no socialization regarding tin mining permits. In addition, most of them also know that their mining activities damage the environment and admit that mining activities damage the habitat of living things. This means that, based on the theories and concepts used, miners are more towards ecocentrism because they make nature an object, not ecocentrism, which pays attention to environmental sustainability.
