Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to look at the role of Islam in overcoming poverty through a global program initiated by the United Nations (UN) through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program or sustainable development goals, one of which is the problem of poverty (no poverty). This research is a qualitative descriptive research using library research methods. This is relevant to achieving the aim of this research, namely exploring sustainable development from the perspective of preaching community empowerment. In this research, the concepts and theories used will be evaluated based on existing literature, especially research results in the form of the Al-Quran, Hadith, textbooks and other relevant materials regarding the 17 main goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research results show that Islam has laid the main foundations in building society to overcome poverty and local wisdom culture, especially in Minangkabau, plays a very important role in overcoming poverty.

Abstract

This research has the objective of how environmental literacy-based communication strategies to overcome pollution in Sangir Batanghari. In this framework, environmental literacy-based communication development strategies become crucial to provide knowledge about environmental protection and increase participation and active involvement of the community in sustainable development. In this research, a qualitative method was used by using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis as data collection techniques. The findings of this research show that Local Community Involvement is inviting local communities in development planning and decision-making as well as collaborating with non-governmental organizations. The results of this research provide an important contribution to the understanding of environmental pollution in providing knowledge and communication strategies for sustainable development in supporting empowerment in the Subdistrict of Sangir Batanghari. Communication strategy as an effort to overcome environmental pollution with several stages, namely, the assessment stage, the planning stage, the message production stage, and the reflection stage.
