Abstract

Introduction: Temperature, humidity, and noise are factors that affect sleep quality. The objective of the research is to determine the effect of humidity, temperature, and room noise on sleep quality of (Intensive Care Unit) ICU patients. Methods: A quantitative research with the cross-sectional approach, involving 84 patients taken by consecutive sampling, with the inclusion criteria of at least having already spent more than two days in ICU, having age between 20-70 years, and being conscious and cooperative. The patients were observed using observation sheets and The Richards-Campbell Sleep Questionnaire (RCSQ). A thermohygrometer and sound level meter for noise recording were used to measure the temperature and humidity. Simple linear regression was used to analyze the data. Results: It was found out that the average sleep quality of patients in the intensive room was 28.51, which categorized as poor sleep quality; the mean humidity in ICU was 56.98; the room temperature was 26.40, and the noise was 66.01. The noise level at the ICU significantly affected the patients’ sleep quality (p-value = 0.020 <0.05), while temperature and humidity did not influence the patients' sleep quality. Conclusion: Most of the respondents had a poor quality of sleep. Controlling the conversation and activities among staff, using earplugs, and modifying the alarm can be done to reduce the noise at the ICU to enhance the quality of sleep of the patients.

Abstract

The psychological well-being felt by nurses is important because it has an optimal influence on whether nurses work or not. Psychological well-being in nurses can be caused by many aspects, including problems with multiple roles and work stress. In this way, the aim of the research is to understand the relationship between dual roles, work stress, and the psychological well-being of nurses at RSUD, Dr. R. Goeteng Taroenadibrata Purbalingga. The method taken is quantitative with a descriptive correlational design and cross-sectional design, as well as a sampling technique with total sampling. Data analysis utilized the Spearman Rank test. The output of the research was from 70 nurses at RSUD Dr. R. Goeteng Taroenadibrata Purbalingga. The majority experienced dual role conflict, which was at a moderate level; there were 32 nurses (45.7%), work stress was in the moderate category, 40 people (57.1%), and psychological well-being was in the medium category, 43 nurses. (61.4%). The results of the data analysis show that there is an influential correlation between the problem of dual roles and the psychological well-being of nurses (p-value = 0.000 and rho = 0.885). Apart from that, there is also an influential correlation between work stress and the psychological well-being of nurses (p-value = 0.000 and rho value = 0.775).

In providing quality nursing care, in addition to caring, nurses also require adequate knowledge to provide optimal nursing care. One way to enhance knowledge is by using media that are engaging and easily comprehensible for nurses. Method: A pre-experimental research design with a non-randomized and post-test without a control group design was employed. The study was conducted in July 2023 in the Internal Medicine Ward of the hospital, involving a total of 32 respondents selected through a total sampling technique. The research instrument used was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Spearman rank correlation test. Results: The research results indicated that the majority of nurses were aged 35 years, with 17 female respondents (53.1%), and 19 respondents (59.4%) having a Ners degree as their latest education. The average knowledge score of nurses regarding caring during nursing care before receiving caring training was 16.25, and after receiving caring training, it increased to an average of 19.28. After conducting the Spearman rank correlation test, a p-value of 0.016 was obtained (p0.05). Conclusion: There is an influence of caring education using booklets on nurses' knowledge while providing nursing care to patients in the Internal Medicine Ward of Ajibarang Regional General Hospital.

Abstract

Introduction: Nursing performance plays a pivotal role in determining the quality of healthcare services, especially in the application of professional nursing models. Several factors, both internal and external, influence nursing performance, including job satisfaction, work culture, workload, supervision, and experience. Understanding these relationships is essential for improving the quality of care in healthcare facilities, particularly hospitals. Objective: To analyze the relationship between various factors, including job satisfaction, work culture, workload, supervision, and experience, with nurses' performance in implementing the Professional Nursing Practice Model. Methods: This study employed a quantitative descriptive approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 30 inpatient nurses selected through total sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Most respondents were female, held a D3 education level, and had five years of work experience. The chi-square test revealed significant relationships between job satisfaction (p = 0.004), work culture (p = 0.002), workload (p = 0.004), supervision (p = 0.001), experience (p = 0.007), and the implementation of the Professional Nursing Practice Model. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between job satisfaction, work culture, workload, supervision, experience, and the application of the Professional Nursing Practice Model, as evidenced by p-values less than 0.05. Improving these factors can enhance nurse performance and overall quality of care in hospitals.

Abstract

Discharge planning is a process that begins from the moment a patient receives healthcare services until they return home. Effective discharge planning can enhance the coordination of services from the hospital to the community, ensure smooth patient discharge, and reduce the length of stay (LOS). However, repeated hospitalizations for the same health issues (readmissions) are still common. Nurses are key members of the discharge planning team and can facilitate the discharge process, helping patients achieve optimal health. Nurses' knowledge and compliance are crucial for the success of discharge planning. To investigate the influence of education on the knowledge and compliance of nurses regarding discharge planning at RSUD (Regional Public Hospital) Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Geriatric Unit and Abiyasa Pavilion Purwokerto. This study employs a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest using a paired t-test. The sample consists of 46 respondents who meet the inclusion criteria, selected through simple random sampling. The research instrument is a questionnaire in the form of a Google Form. Univariate analysis uses descriptive analysis, and data normality is tested with the Shapiro-Wilk test. The majority of respondents are female, aged 23-30 years, with the most recent education being a nursing profession degree. The mean knowledge score before education is 44.13 points, and the mean compliance score before education is 5.13 points. After education, the mean knowledge score is 53.78 points, and the mean compliance score is 7.67 points. There is a significant influence on the knowledge and compliance of nurses before and after being given discharge planning education (p-value 0.05), with an average difference in knowledge score of 9.652 points and an average difference in compliance score of 2.543 points. Education has a significant influence on nurses' knowledge and compliance with discharge planning
