Abstract

Limbah tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) merupakan limbah padat yang dihasilkan dari sisa pengolahan di pabrik kelapa sawit. Seiring dengan bertambahnya luas lahan kebun kelapa sawit menyebabkan jumlah limbah TKKS semakin meningkat. Meningkatnya jumlah limbah ini secara terus menerus akan menyebabkan terjadinya pencemaran lingkungan, seperti polusi udara akibat bau yang tidak sedap. Akan tetapi, limbah TKKS dapat memberikan manfaat jika diolah dengan baik. Salah satu cara yang bisa dilakukan dalam pengolahan limbah TKKS adalah dengan merubah limbah tersebut menjadi biochar. Biochar dari TKKS dapat dimanfaatkan untuk memperbaiki kualitas lahan di kebun kelapa sawit rakyat. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang terintegrasi dengan mahasiswa Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan cara membuat biochar dari limbah TKKS kepada kelompok tani Semoga Jaya yang berada di Kenagarian Koto Beringin Kecamatan Tiumang Kabupaten Dharmasraya. Melalui pelatihan ini, diharapkan petani dapat mengelola limbah tersebut secara mandiri dan berkelanjutan, serta memanfaatkannya dengan baik untuk perbaikan kualitas lahan kelapa sawit rakyat. Kegiatan pelatihan diikuti dengan antusias oleh petani, hal ini dapat dilihat dari banyaknya pertanyaan yang muncul selama kegiatan pelatihan berlangsung. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa para petani sangat tertarik untuk menerima ilmu yang disampaikan, dan ingin mencoba  dan mengaplikasikan pembuatan biochar ini pada kebun kelapa sawitnya masing-masing.

Abstract

Upaya memperkenalkan pupuk organik dan pakan ternak alternatif dengan memanfaatkan bahan limbah kelapa sawit berupa tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) dan pelepah sawit yang awalnya hanya dibiarkan begitu saja sehingga bisa diolah menjadi pupuk organik dan pakan yang berguna untuk menyuburkan tanah dan pakan ternak. Pupuk organik dan pakan ternak alternatif ini sangat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat karena kondisi cuaca daerah Koto Nan Empat Dibawuh yang cenderung kering. Penggunaan pupuk organik pada tanah mampu meningkatkan unsur hara tanah dan memperbaiki pertumbuhan tumbuhan serta pakan ternak alternatif berguna memanfaatkan limbah sawit menjadi sumber pakan bagi ternak yang selama ini tidak bisa dikonsumsi ternak. Untuk itu penulis ingin memberikan sosialisasi kepada masyarakat Nagari Koto Nan Empat Dibawuh agar pupuk organik dan pakan ternak alternatif dari limbah kelapa sawit bisa dimanfaatkan semaksimal mungkin pada tanah dan ternak sekitar. Selama sosialisasi berlangsung, warga tampak antusias memperhatikan dan mendengarkan dengan seksama. Kegiatan praktik pembuatan pupuk organik juga memberikan hasil positif yang ditunjukkan dengan tekstur gembur, tidak berbau menyengat dan berwarna hitam. Melalui kegiatan ini warga setempat mendapatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan baru dalam upaya meningkatkan kesuburan tanah melalui pemanfaatan limbah kelapa sawit.

Abstract

Rice is a primary necessity for the Indonesian people, as it serves as a source of energy and carbohydrates. Rice cultivation requires strategic approaches to increase production, aiming to prevent threats to Indonesia's food security. One strategy that can be applied is the jajar legowo rice planting system. The jajar legowo system is a technique that manipulates planting distances to increase rice yields, resulting in a greater number of edge plants. This activity aims to enhance farmers' understanding of rice cultivation using the jajar legowo system to achieve better harvests and to boost their enthusiasm in working on their agricultural land. The activity was conducted on the rice fields owned by the Tanjung Raya farming group, located in Nagari Sungai Dareh, Pulau Punjung District, Dharmasraya Regency. The method employed involved directly practising the jajar legowo rice planting system in the farmers' rice fields. The activity proceeded smoothly, successfully increasing the farmers' understanding of *jajar legowo* rice cultivation to achieve better harvests. Both the farmers and students involved in the activity were able to perform their tasks according to the specified guidance. Looking forward, it is hoped that similar activities will be held, as this initiative by the students of Campus III Universitas Andalas Dharmasraya aims to provide benefits and positive contributions to the surrounding community.

Abstract

Changes in land use due to deforestation can affect the diversity, composition, and structure of fauna communities, including termites. This study aims to examine the diversity, composition, and structure of the termite community in several land uses. Land uses include natural forest, secondary forest, plantation of oil palm, and settlements in Dharmasraya District, West Sumatra Province. The research was conducted to determine the distribution of species and termite colonies in Dharmasraya District. The research method used observation on the level of habitat disturbance. The observations were conducted on 50 m x 10 m plots. One plot was split into 5 m x 5 m sub-plots, and there were 20 sub-plots in total. Termite samples collected from each plot were identified in the laboratory. This study found 14 species of termites on different land uses in Dharmasraya Regency West Sumatra Province. The level of disturbance of land use types affects the composition and structure of termites within it, especially from taxon groups and their food groups, and there are similarities in termite species composition in natural forests and secondary forests and and also similarities on termite species composition in oil palm plantations and settlements.

Abstract

Sugar palm (Arenga pinnata), a member of the Arecaceae (Palmae) family within the Angiospermae group, is a multifunctional plant with significant economic value. Its sap serves as a primary ingredient for palm sugar production, while its young fruit is consumed as food, its fibers are utilized for roofing, and its trunk is processed into handicrafts. However, concerns have arisen regarding the plant’s declining availability due to imbalanced cultivation. A key factor contributing to the low cultivation interest among farmers is the prolonged maturation period of sugar palm. To support conservation efforts and sustainable management, morphological characterization is crucial in determining genetic relationships, which can assist breeders in preserving germplasm stability. This study aimed to assess the morphological characteristics and genetic diversity of sugar palm populations in Sikakap District, Mentawai Islands. The research was conducted from August to November 2024 using a survey method with purposive sampling. Morphological data were collected through direct observation, analyzed descriptively, and similarity relationships were determined using NTSYS Ver. 2.10 software. The exploration identified 15 accessions categorized into two groups, with genetic similarity levels ranging from 27% to 50%. A similarity coefficient of 27% indicates significant morphological variation among the observed accessions, particularly in plant height, sheath length, stem circumference, number of leaflets, leaflet width, leaflet length, and fruit diameter. The accession Pagai Selatan (PS2) exhibited the greatest morphological divergence. These findings provide valuable insights for conservation strategies and selective breeding programs aimed at maintaining the genetic diversity and sustainability of sugar palm populations.

Abstract

[[INFESTATION LEVEL OF GREEN SCALE INSECT (Coccus viridis) ON COFFEE PLANTS AT PT PTL COFFEE BEAN, SOLOK SELATAN REGENCY]. The green scale insect (Coccus viridis) is a major pest in coffee plantations in Indonesia. It is classified as an economically significant pest due to its potential to cause up to 50% plant damage, leading to substantial yield reduction and financial losses. This study aims to determine the infestation level of Coccus viridis at PT PTL Coffee Bean, Solok Selatan Regency, and to analyze the influence of environmental factors on infestation intensity. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a foundation for developing appropriate pest control strategies based on the principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The research was conducted using a systematic sampling method with a diagonal line pattern across the coffee plantation owned by PT PTL Coffee Bean. Direct field observations were performed, and further analyses were conducted at the Integrated Pest Management Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University. The results showed that the infestation intensity of Coccus viridis on coffee plants at the study site was 15.38%, which falls into the mild infestation category. The infestation level was influenced by environmental factors such as altitude, temperature, humidity, light intensity, and cultivation techniques. Although the infestation level was classified as mild, regular monitoring remains essential to prevent an increase in pest populations. Furthermore, IPM-based control strategies should be optimized to sustain coffee plant productivity, including the conservation of natural enemies and the application of proper cultivation techniques.

Abstract

The area of oil palm plantations in Dharmasraya Regency is not in line with the amount of production obtained by farmers. This is due to the large number of parthenocarpic fruits caused by the few pollinators and male flowers, so the pollination process in oil palm plantations is not optimal. This activity aims to train farmers in Koto Beringin Village, Tiumang District. The activity method is carried out through counseling and demonstration plots on applying hatch & carry techniques for Elaeidobius kamerunicus to improve the pollination process so that oil palm production can increase. In this activity, farmers are expected to be able to produce products in the form of oil palm pollen and Elaeidobius kamerunicus breeding cages. From the activities that have been carried out, it is known that farmers' knowledge of hatch & carry techniques for Elaeidobius kamerunicus is still very minimal. Through counseling and demonstration plot activities, farmers have been able to breed Elaeidobius kamerunicus and collect oil palm pollen. From the results of observations in people's oil palm fields, it is known that after the application of the Hatch & Carry technique was carried out, there was an increase in the number of Elaeidobius kamerunicus pollinators from 524 individuals/Ha to 21,137 individuals/Ha and will continue to increase if the application of the Hatch & Carry technique continues to be carried out. If farmers apply the hatch & carry technique of Elaeidobius kamerunicus correctly, it can increase the number of pollinators that play a role in pollination.

Abstract

Abstract: Pupuk organik cair adalah pupuk hasil ekstrak dari hasil pembusukan bahan-bahan organik. Bahan-bahan organik bisa berasal dari sisa tanaman, kotoran hewan dan manusia yang mengandung unsur haranya lebih satu unsur. Dengan mengekstrak sampah organik tersebut dapat mengambil seluruh nutriens yang terkandung pada sampah organik tersebut.Salah satunya dengan memanfaatkan limbah organik dapur yang dilakukan dalam kegiatan KKN Reguler Universitas Andalas Tahun 2023 di Nagari Silago, Kecamatan Sembilan Koto, Kabupaten Dharmasraya, Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian adalah untuk mengetahui cara pembuatan pupuk kompos dari limbah sampah sayuran rumah tangga dan pengaplikasiannya. Metode dilakukan dengan cara memberikan pelatihan secara ceramah kepada beberapa petani yang tergabung dalam kelompok tani dan kelompok dasawisma di Nagari Silago. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah dapat mensosialisasikan kepada masyarakat mengenai keunggulan dari pupuk organik cair yang berasal dari bahan yang sederhana dalam pembuatannya, mengurangi jumlah sampah dapur, dan pengurangan penggunaan pupuk sintetis yang dapat merusak lingkungan.

Abstract

Sungai Batanghari merupakan sungai dengan panjang ± 800 km, sungai ini mengalir dari Provinsi Sumatera Barat sampai ke Provinsi Jambi. Mata airnya berasal dari Gunung Rasan, dan yang menjadi hulu Sungai Batanghari ini adalah Danau Atas yang sekarang masuk di Kabupaten Solok, Provinsi Sumatera Barat, dan mengalir ke selatan sampai ke daerah Pagu Provinsi Jambi. Tingginya intensitas kegiatan sosial ekonomi dalam DAS Batanghari saat ini telah menyebabkan terjadinya gangguan yang amat berarti. Upaya yang bisa dilakukan dalam mengkonservasi bantaran sungai adalah dengan melakukan budidaya tanaman tahunan yang memiliki perakaran serabut dan dalam. Salah satu jenis tanaman yang berpotensi untuk digunakan dalam kegiatan konservasi bantaran sungai ini adalah tanaman aren. Tujuan dari program pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah 1)Meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya konservasi kawasan DAS, 2) Meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat tentang potensi tanaman aren dan buah-buahan dalam konservasi Kawasan DAS.

Abstract

Kegiatan penelitian Dinamika Populasi Lalat Buah (Diptera: Tephritidae) Pada Tanaman Buah-Buahan DiKabupaten Dharmasraya ini telah dilakukan mulai pada tanggal 1Agustus 2016 sampai dengan tanggal 10November 2016 di Kabupaten Dharmasraya. Kegiatan penelitian ini adalah sebuah penelitian untuk memperkayapengetahuan mengenai lalat buah yang meliputi kesamaan, kelimpahan, dominansi lalat buah pada tanaman buahbuahandi Dharmasraya, dan dapat membantu dalam upaya pengendalian hama lalat buah pada tanaman buahbuahanyang dibudidayakan. Data penelitian diambil dari mengumpulkan buah busuk yang ada di pasar KabupatenDharmasraya dan trapping di sentra buah-buahan di Kabupaten Dharmasraya, Propinsi Sumatera Barat kemudiandibawa ke Laboratorium Entomologi Prodi Agroekoteknologi Fakultas Pertanian Kampus III Universitas AndalasDharmasraya untuk diidentifikasi. Dari hasil penelitian ini terlihat keragaman spesies lalat buah di pasar dan disentra buah-buahan di Kabupaten Dharmasraya sangat rendah dan di dominansi oleh spesies Bactroceracarambolae dan Bactrocera papayae, dan ditemukan 6 spesies lalat buah yang ada di lokasi pasar dan sentra buahbuahan di Kabupaten Dharmasraya yaitu Bactrocera papayae Drew & Hancock, Bactrocera carambolae Drew &Hancock, Bactrocera umbrosa Fabricius, Bactrocera cucurbitae Coquillete, Bactrocera caudata Fabricius danBactrocera albistrigata de Maijere (Diptera:Tephritidae).Kata Kunci: populasi, lalat buah, tanaman buahABSTRACTResearch activities Fruit Fly Dynamics Population (Diptera: Tephritidae) On Fruit Plants In DharmasrayaDistrict has been done starting on August 1st ,2016 until November 10th, 2016 at Dharmasraya District.
