Abstract

Negative self beliefs during social interaction and previous unpleasant social experiences increase level of social anxiety. This condition also leads person to form narrative tone about helplessness. This research aim is to apply Narrative Therapy for exploring experiences and other life stories from a highly anxious person to decrease his/her level of anxiety. The research participant (subject Y, female, 21 years old) fits the participant’s inclusive criteria, using Skala Kecemasan Sosial-Revisi (SKS-R). Y joins 8 sessions of individual therapy setting. SKS-R is given before and after therapy, and also in the follow up sessions. SKS-R score shows decrease in Y’s level of social anxiety from 226 (very high anxiety) to 112 (very low anxiety) and the low scores remain stable in two follow up sessions. Meanwhile, her safety behaviors frequency, which is observed using Observasi Perilaku Aman (OPA), shows unstable score per session. Narrative analysis on conversation transcript and Diari Pelaporan Diri (DPD) show narrative tone transformation. Before therapy, it is dominated by helplessness. After therapy, it is changed to empowerment and self esteem to fight against anxiety. Negative imagery of “Miss Panic” and “Miss Sensitive” is deleted. The conclusion is Narrative Therapy can decrease Y’s level of social anxiety. Further research can support Narrative Therapy reliability in different setting. Abstract

Maternal pattern and the role of peers in high school youth dating behavior in JambiPurposeThe purpose of this paper was to determine the relationship between parental parenting and the role of peers with youth dating behavior in Jambi. MethodA cross-sectional study was conducted involving 281 students of SMAN 4 and SMAN 11 in Jambi who were or have been dating. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate with chi square tests, and multivariate with logistic regression tests.Results281 respondents, 113 (72.44%) of the majority of male adolescents behaved in risky courtship. Bivariable analysis found that there was a significant correlation between the role of peers and teenage dating behavior, while the relationship of mother pattern with teenage dating behavior was found to be insignificant. Multivariable analysis, obtained the result that the role of peers is the dominant variable associated with youth dating behavior with OR 2.74 times (95%, CI = 1.61-4.67). ConclusionThis study contributes to the knowledge that a poor peer role for adolescents has a risk to behave in risky dating and mother's parenting does not have a meaningful relationship with youth courtship behavior.

Abstract

Sopi drinking behavior among adolescents in KupangPurposeThis research aimed to identify sopi drinking behavior among adolescents in Maulfa.MethodsThis research was a qualitative study with an exploratory design and phenomenological approach. The main informants were adolescents who drink sopi and supporter informants were religious leaders or community leaders, parents, sopi sellers, health workers and adolescents who did not drink sopi. Data collection used observations, In-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. The informant sampling was obtained by purposive sampling through convenience sampling strategy.ResultResults showed that adolescents start to drink sopi since junior high school and senior high school. They have known sopi since the age of 13-17 years old. The number of sopi consumed is usually about two-six bottles and they drink it together with their friends. Some factors that encourage teenagers to consume sopi are: 1) to obtain many friends and build friendship; and 2) to know each other well and to make a good communication between them.ConclusionSocial factors such as a culture play an important role to build the sopi drinking behavior in adolescents. The adolescents consider that sopi drinking behavior is an easy thing to do because it is easy to obtain and cheap.

Abstract

Hubungan persahabatan merupakan salah satu aspek penting di kehidupan mahasiswa. Kualitas dalam hubungan tersebut dapat berdampak pada kondisi Kesehatan mental mereka. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu menguji secara empiris peran kualitas persahabatan terhadap tingkat stres melalui kesepian sebagai mediator pada mahasiswa sekolah kedinasan yang berusia 18-21 tahun. Partisipan penelitian adalah 216 mahasiswa (95 laki-laki dan 121 perempuan). Tingkat stres diukur dengan Perceived Stress Scale – 10, kesepian diukur dengan UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3, dan kualitas persahabatan diukur dengan Friendship Quality Questionnaire (FQQ). Semua skala yang digunakan telah diadaptasi ke bahasa Indonesia Analisis mediasi sederhana digunakan untuk menentukan peran kualitas persahabatan pada tingkat stres dengan kesepian sebagai mediator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas persahabatan berperan negatif secara signifikan terhadap tingkat stres dengan kesepian sebagai mediator (β = -0,1114; p < 0,001). Dengan demikian, individu dengan kualitas persahabatan yang tinggi dengan sahabat mereka cenderung memiliki tingkat stres yang rendah dengan kesepian sebagai mediator keduanya.

Abstract

School refusal merupakan masalah psikososial yang dapat ditemui pada anak usia sekolah. Masalah ini merupakan manifestasi dari rasa cemas dan upaya penghindaran dari situasi atau peristiwa yang menimbulkan stres. Perlu adanya upaya untuk menangani permasalahan ini sehingga tidak menjadi faktor risiko gangguan mental di masa dewasa. Sebuah studi kasus tunggal dilakukan untuk menguji efektivitas terapi bermain kognitif-perilaku berbasis permainan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan koping anak dengan school refusal. Asesmen dilakukan dengan metode wawancara, observasi, dan tes psikologi. Terdapat delapan sesi terapi yang diberikan kepada anak dan orangtua. Hasilnya menunjukkan perubahan pada sikap dan perilaku partisipan anak dalam menghadapi stresor sekolah. Selain keterampilan relaksasi, partisipan mampu beraktivitas kembali di sekolah dan mau berinteraksi dengan temannya. Penting untuk memberikan intervensi yang efektif untuk permasalahan ini guna menjamin kesejahteraan anak di masa depan

Abstract

Abstract. Celebrity worship is a parasocial relationship with one or more celebrities driven by identity absorption and addiction to everything related to the celebrity. However, previous studies state that celebrity worship positively impacts the worshipers if they join the fandom. In a quantitative study design, the current study aims to determine the role of celebrity worship on the eudaimonic well-being of members of the BTS-ARMY fandom in Indonesia. There were 207 participants aged 18-25 who had joined the BTS-ARMY fandom for at least one year before the study. Data was gained using online questionnaires. The result of simple linear regression shows that celebrity worship has a positive role in eudaimonic well-being (R2=0.020; p < 0.05). By linking these two variables of the BTS-ARMY members in Indonesia, the finding contributes to understanding eudaimonic well-being in celebrity worshiping as a nonpathological activity. Further research investigation is required to support this result, for example, by focusing on the group dynamics of the fandom community.Keywords: BTS; Celebrity Worship; Eudaimonic Well-being; fandom ARMY

Abstract

In the context of college students' depression, narrative therapy is beneficial to explore and challenge negative self-perceptions and beliefs contributing to their depressive symptoms. Narrative therapy was conducted through telecounseling using a video-conference platform with nine sessions for a female university student in her mid-20s with depressive mood, low energy, and suicidal thoughts, resulting in delays in her academic task fulfillment. She hardly finished her fieldwork reports and had not started her thesis after receiving a study period extension when majority of her classmates had graduated. The intervention was aimed to change client's depression narrative to more empowered preferred stories shaping her new identity so she could graduate from her program. During the  the intervention process, the participant can finish her academic obligations and graduate before the due date. Discussion about the case is provided for practitioners interested in the narrative approach, supported by the worksheets and therapy stages explanation.

Abstract

Good quality care can mean that parents are able to provide care that suits their child's needs. Good quality in parenting is related to parents' knowledge about positive parenting. Positive parenting is a parenting style that balances warmth and appreciation with the rules and discipline that parents apply to their children. This research aims to determine the effect of positive parenting training on the quality of care for mothers of early childhood at SPS Teratai. The subjects of this research were mothers of early childhood children aged 2-6 years at SPS Teratai. The measuring tool used is the parenting quality scale from Efnita (2014). The results of the research show that the statistical test using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test using the SPSS 21.00 for Windows application shows a probability value of 0.027 (p<0.05). This shows that there is a change in the quality of parenting between the groups before and after positive parenting training. The results of the FGD also showed that participants learned about positive parenting which focuses on reducing negative parental behavior in caring for children, increasing attention to positive behavior in children and establishing empathetic closeness to children, carrying out more positive discipline so that they do not use violence either physically. verbal and emotional.Kualitas pengasuhan yang baik dapat bermakna bahwa orangtua mampu memberikan pengasuhan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan dari anaknya. Kualitas yang baik dalam pengasuhan berkaitan dengan pengetahuan orangtua tentang pengasuhan yang positif. Pengasuhan positif adalah pola asuh yang menyeimbangkan antara kehangatan serta pengahargaan dengan aturan dan disiplin yang diterapkan orangtua kepada anaknya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pelatihan pengasuhan positif terhadap kualitas pengasuhan ibu dari anak usia dini di SPS Teratai. Subjek penelitian ini adalah ibu dari anak usia dini yang berusia 2-6 tahun di SPS Teratai. Alat ukur yang dipakai adalah skala kualitas pengasuhan dari Efnita (2014). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari uji statistik dengan uji beda Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test dengan bantuan aplikasi SPSS 21.00 for windows menunjukkan nilai probabilitas 0,027 (p<0,05). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perubahan kualitas pengasuhan antara kelompok sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan pengasuhan positif. Hasil FGD juga menunjukkan bahwa peserta belajar tentang pengasuhan positif yang berfokus untuk mengurangi perilaku negatif orangtua dalam melakukan pengasuhan kepada anak, meningkatkan perhatian pada perilaku positif pada anak dan menjalin kedekatan yang penuh empati kepada anak, melakukan disiplin yang lebih positif sehingga tidak menggunakan kekerasan baik secara verbal maupun emosional.
