Abstract

The negotiation of Muslim worship during the pandemic Covid-19 is very important to reflect on as a lesson learned after the pandemic Covid-19. This study, in addition to provide a conceptual understanding of the pattern of negotiating Muslim worship during the pandemic Covid-19, reflected this negotiation contextually. This study used a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through an interview with Muslims who actively carried out worship activities in the congregation during the pandemic Covid-19 at the Kotagede Mataram Gede Mosque. The analysis was carried out through the process of reducing, describing, and inductively interpreting data to obtain a classification and conclusion regarding the pattern of negotiating Muslim worship during the pandemic Covid-19. This study found that the pattern of negotiating Muslim worship during the pandemic Covid-19 was not least carried out through three contexts, namely, a negotiation in a structural context, a negotiation in a cultural context, and a negotiation in a spiritual context. These three contexts were an effort of Muslim resilience in accommodating their worship activities during the pandemic Covid-19.

Abstract

During the 2020-2021 period in Indonesia, the stricter enforcement of worship practices amid the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in opposition from various Muslim community. Prior research on this phenomenon has solely concentrated on binary notions of opposition, and as such, has not provided a comprehensive explanation of the resistance stance. The objective of this study is to elucidate the shape and manner of resistance from various Muslim groups towards the stricter enforcement of religious practices amid the Covid-19 outbreak. Qualitative methods were employed in this study, which involved collecting data through in-depth interviews and observations conducted at Mataram Mosque in Kota Gede, Yogyakarta. The findings show that resistance by some Muslim communities comes in three forms: passive, active, and reactive resistance. These three forms of opposition represent a manifestation of the citizens' ideological consciousness as they object to government policies that contradict the knowledge and collective experiences they have accumulated thus far.

Abstract

Abstract Studies that have discussed this phenomenon have only focused on the adaptation and transformation of da'wah activities, so the emergence of young ustad among urban millennial Muslims has not been comprehensively discussed. This study focuses on the question, "What factors drive the emergence of new religious authorities among urban millennial Muslims?" This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to several young religious teachers and congregations from urban millennials who actively participate in mosque studies to analyse this question. The young ustad and the congregation were interviewed in an intensive, unstructured manner to explore data regarding their practices, knowledge, and experience in studying and becoming preachers among urban millennial Muslims. The findings in this study show that two dominant factors, namely, influence the emergence of a new religious authority among urban millennial Muslims; First, structural factors in the form of support from congregations and mosque administrators in the form of da'wah facilities. Second, cultural factors from congregations and mosque administrators who are more open in accepting young ustad's da'wah. Keywords: Rissing Authority, Ustad, Muslims, and urban Millennials.

Abstract

After the Covid-19 pandemic, the worship activities of Muslims have given rise to various controversies in the context of their principles, attitudes, and worship relations. In addition to explaining the controversies of Muslim worship after the Covid-19 pandemic, this study also analyzes the factors and implications of this phenomenon. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data was collected through direct observation and interviews with Muslims who carried out the five-time obligatory worship activities in the congregation at the mosque after the Covid-19 pandemic. The analysis in this study was carried out by reducing, describing, and inductively interpreting the data. The findings in this study show that post-Covid-19 pandemic worship controversies have not only appeared in the form of regulations, fqih, and worship norms. This context is influenced by the experience, knowledge, and meaning of Muslims, which has implications for the principles, attitudes, and patterns of worship in a more personal and subjective direction after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Black campaigns that occurred in 2014 and 2019 also have the potential to emerge in the 2024 general elections in Indonesia. Not only does black campaigning have the potential to create public distrust of a fair electoral process, but it also has the potential to polarize society. This phenomenon has not been scientifically considered in previous studies. This study focuses on the question, "What is the potential for black campaigns that occurred in 2014 and 2019 to emerge in the 2024 general election in Indonesia?" This qualitative study investigates the forms and patterns of black campaign narratives disseminated through online media coverage. The findings of this study show that the black campaign that occurred in 2014 has the same pattern and narrative in 2019. Issues such as the involvement of the Indonesian Communist Party, Race, Human Rights, Radicalism, and Religion became issues that did not appear in the black campaign in the 2014 and 2019 general elections. The patterns and narratives of black campaigns that occurred in 2014 and 2019 can be used as references and preferences in looking at black campaign issues that have the potential to appear in the 2024 general elections. This study also recommends the importance of analyzing the factors that influence the emergence of black campaigns with the same patterns and narratives in 2014 and 2019 that have the potential to appear in the 2024 general elections in Indonesia.

Abstract

Fostering and re-socializing prisoners lead to misconduct that results in prison failure. The studies have only concentrated on forms and factors when discussing this phenomenon, neglecting a comprehensive exploration of the implications of prison failure. This study focuses on the question, "What are the implications of prison failure on the conditions and behavior of prisoners after undergoing fostering in prison?" This study uses a descriptive-qualitative netnography method to investigate the forms, factors, and implications of prison failure on the conditions and behavior of prisoners forced to undergo fostering in prison described through online media coverage. This study's findings reveal that prisons fail, as evidenced by criminal events that counter the guidance orientation. Prison failure occurs due to the weak commitment of institutions and prison officials in actualizing the objectives of fostering, which systemically leads to recidivism with repeated criminal cases and actions. This study also recommends the importance of interviewing officers and prisoners undergoing the fostering process in prison to obtain a more comprehensive and empirical understanding.
