Abstract

During adolescence, students begin to develop purpose in life and strategies to achieve them. The perceived social support of teachers is an initial stimulus for students to discover life goals. However, gratitude can also be a positive predictor for students to reflect on support, experiences, and challenges to find purpose in life that have an impact on the environment. The present study focused on examining the effect of perceived teachers' social support on purpose in life with gratitude as the mediator variable. This study used quantitative methods with a mediation design. The participants in this study were 204 SMA/MA/SMK students in grades 10-12, aged 15-18 years, and domiciled in Indonesia. Data collection used accidental sampling and snowball sampling where questionnaires were distributed online through social media. Data analysis was conducted using JASP 0.14.1 and hypothesis testing through mediation analysis with a causal steps model. The results of the mediation analysis showed that perceived teachers' social support has a significant influence on purpose in life through gratitude as a mediator variable, but the resulting mediation effect is partial. The implications of this research can help the school environment, especially teachers, in helping students find a meaningful purpose in life.Pada usia remaja, pelajar mulai merancang purpose in life dan strategi untuk mencapainya. Adanya perceived teacher’s social support menjadi stimulus awal bagi pelajar untuk menemukan purpose in life.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the influence of Quality of Work Life and Presence of Career Calling on teachers' intrinsic work motivation in private secondary schools X and Y. Quality of Work Life refers to working conditions that include aspects of work-life balance, social support, recognition of contributions, and a supportive work environment, while Presence of Career Calling reflects the extent to which teachers perceive their work as a calling that has deep purpose and meaning. This research is expected to provide valuable insights for school management in developing strategies to increase teachers' intrinsic motivation, so as to contribute to improving the quality of education in both schools. This study aims to determine the effect of Quality of Work Life and Career Vocation on teachers' intrinsic work motivation in two private secondary schools. Using quantitative methods and total population study techniques, this study obtained the participation of 87 teachers as research samples. Data collection was conducted through an online survey using a validated questionnaire. The results of this study showed a significant effect of Presence of Career Calling on intrinsic work motivation, while Quality of Work Life did not have a significant effect on intrinsic work motivation. This finding is consistent with previous research regarding calling variables increasing intrinsic motivation but differs in the case of Quality of Work Life which shows no effect.

Abstract

Academic resilience is an important factor for university students to navigate through their assignments, as the absence of quality may cause issues. Perceived peer pressure and search for meaning act as major predictors of academic resilience as both factors are crucial for university students. This research aims to identify the roles of perceived peer pressure and search for meaning on academic resilience in university students in Surabaya. This research is a quantitative study using a survey design and double regression data analysis technique. The sample of this study are active university students in Surabaya with the number of 208 respondents collected through accidental sampling in the form of non-probability sampling. Measuring instruments used in this research are The Academic Resilience Scale (ARS-30) (Alpha Cronbach 0,685 (perseverance), 0,861 (reflecting and adaptive help-seeking) and 0,761 (negative affect and emotional response)), Perceived Peer Pressure Scale (Alpha Cronbach 0,865 (yielding to peer pressure), 0,844 (resistance to peer pressure), dan 0,633 (peers encouragement)) and Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ) (Alpha Cronbach 0,922). When juxtaposed, this research finds a significant role of perceived peer pressure on academic resilience while no role of search for meaning is found. On the other hand, search for meaning is found to have an independent role on academic resilience. Thus, it is concluded that perceived peer pressure has a more dominant role in comparison to search for meaning. Further research needs to be done regarding search for meaning as the mediator of the roles of perceived peer pressure on academic resilience.

Abstract

Nowadays the rise of mentoring concept has entered to entrepreneurship domain. Rela-tionship between mentee and mentor, which has been applied into career and organizational con-text, also is being tried into entrepreneurship education as the relationship between new entrepre-neurs and experienced entrepreneurs. Since entrepreneurship is believed as the answer for unem-ployment, poverty, and economic crisis, then entrepreneurial success tend to be measured only byeconomic criteria. Many entrepreneurship educations were designing various projects to equip newentrepreneurs in order to create new venture. It also influences how mentors help the mentees, which also emphasize to gain profits, revenue growth, and sustainability. This paradigm seems toignore psychological characteristic of entrepreneurs and to narrow entrepreneurship as the pursuitof money. This article will review where the direction of mentoring in entrepreneurship education, what roles of mentor, and expected learning outcomes from mentoring in entrepreneurship educa-tion.

Abstract

Plastic Bank Indonesia (PBI) has done trainings and evaluated its results through two modules and tests. However, it does not yet have a standardized tool to evaluate the participants’ understanding. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of PBI’s trainings across two modules in order to develop a standardized tool for evaluation. This is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design involving one experimental group without a control group and using post-test measurement only. The participants of the experinmental group are heads of warehouses and plastic collectors who received training and tests by PBI. Results show that the average score of the test falls into the category of Average and Good using an ideal norm, indicating that this training was effective in raising participants’ awareness of plastic waste. Results of the t-test show that there is no significant difference between the average scores of heads of warehouses (N=220) and plastic collectors (N=678). However, the results of the distractor test show that the majority of items are not a good distractor, which indicates that the test is still quite easy. Based on the reliability test, the majority of items have a moderate reliability (Cronbach’s alpha .5 to .7). The implication of these findings is that ineffective distractors should be revised to enhance the accuracy of evaluating participants’ understanding.

Abstract

Finding identity and life purpose is one of emerging adulthood’s developmental tasks. It can help them be in a committed relationship, which is also their developmental task. However, the Friends With Benefits phenomenon in emerging adulthood in Indonesia indicates a lack of dating commitment, whereas it is important to commit and thus study predictors promoting commitment. Therefore, this research aims to find whether life purpose can be a predictor of dating commitment in emerging adulthood in Indonesia. Participants are 305 Indonesians aged 18-25 years old who are in a dating relationship. They completed online questionnaires consisting of the Indonesian version of the Claremont Purpose Scale and Sternberg Triangular Love Scale’s commitment scale. Based on the simple linear regression test, life purpose positively predicts dating commitment with goal-directedness being the highest predictor. This shows that life purpose has a positive impact on the dating commitment of emerging adulthood in Indonesia.
