Abstract

Ecosystems in Central Kalimantan are generally dominated by peat swamps, including Kereng Bangkirai Village, Sebangau District. Ecotourism is responsible for improving community welfare but still prioritizing the environmental preservation of natural areas found in tourist locations. Education on waste management in the community is still lacking, reflected in the lack of sorting when disposing of household waste to the landfill and residents' habit of burning environmental waste in the form of leaves or dry grass. The Riswandi Farm farmer group uses the results of cutting grass in the Kereng Bangkirai area to be used as compost. However, the limitations of the grass-cutting tools used are an obstacle in producing compost. So it is necessary to apply shredding machine technology to overcome the problem of the amount of organic compost production and produce derivative fertilizer products in other forms.

Abstract

Abstract

Legumes are cultivated plants that are widely used by the community. In central Kalimantan, especially in Palangka Raya city, the legume is planted by the community as a garden plant which is consumed daily. The condition of acidic peatlands in Central Kalimantan is a limiting factor for plant growth. This study aims to determine the effect of peat water from the Sabangau River in Central Kalimantan on the germination of legume plants. The study used 4 (four) types of plants such as Vigna radiata L, Vigna unguiculata L, Phaseolus vulgaris L, and Glycine max L using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The plant seeds were first soaked in peat water for 3 (three) hours, then transferred to a medium covered with cotton and watered using the same water. Observations were made from the first day to the seventh day. The results showed that 3 (three) types of plants such as Vigna radiata L, Vigna unguiculata L, and Phaseolus vulgaris L were able to grow using peat water as a medium, while soybeans could not germinate. The results show that out of these three types of plants, Vigna radiata L has a better growth rate than Vigna unguiculata L and Phaseolus vulgaris L. Statistical tests using ANOVA analysis showed no significant differences between the three types of plants that grow.

Abstract

Butterflies are part of biodiversity that is important to be preserved because the presence of butterflies in an ecosystem, especially forests, is very important, both as part of the food chain, pollinators, and food for other animals. This study aims to analyze the species diversity and abundance of butterflies (Lepidoptera) in the habitat of Tahawa Village Forest Area, Pulang Pisau Regency. The research method used an exploratory survey method with a sweeping technique following a transect line and then calculated Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index (H'), Evenness Index (E), and Species Richness Index (R1). Butterflies found in the Tahawa Village Forest Area consisted of 6 families divided into 15 species with a total of 63 individuals. The most species found came from the Pieridae family and the least from the Geometridae family. The Diversity Index (H') obtained a value of 2.38, classified as moderate diversity. The Evenness Index (E) is in the high category with 0.88, while the Richness Index (R1) is at 3.38 which is still classified as low.

Abstract

Vector-borne diseases are a diversified group of diseases, caused by various pathogens transmitted by rats and arthropod vectors, such as mosquitoes, ticks, and flies. Previous research shows that cases of infectious diseases in Islamic boarding schools/orphanages are found, including dengue, scabies and pediculosis. Some Islamic boarding schools have poor environmental conditions, including toilets, damp and closed dormitories, poor ventilation and lighting, and poor environmental sanitation. Student behavior towards cleanliness and maintaining health is considered to be lacking. Through this service, it is hoped that residents at LKSA/Panti Asuhan Darul Tazkiyah can maintain personal cleanliness and residence so as to reduce the population of vectors and disease-carrying animals in the settlement. The activity was carried out through the method of socialization and two-way discussion. Scouts were given at the beginning of the activity to measure the level of knowledge of participants about vectors and disease-carrying animals. The results of the questionnaire showed that 94% of the participants did not have knowledge about the bioecology of vectors and disease-carrying animals. After the socialization and discussion stage, it can be concluded that participants understand the bioecology of each type of vector (flies, cockroaches, mosquitoes) and disease-carrying animals (rats).

Abstract

Mosquitoes are insects that play a role in the balance of the ecosystem. However, some species of mosquitoes are detrimental because they act as disease carriers (vectors) for humans and animals. The increasing mosquito population is feared to have the potential to become a vector, prompting various efforts to reduce the population, including the use of biopesticides. This article aims to analyze and visualize the research trends on b biopesticides in mosquito control over the past 19 years and to identify potential research topics related to biopesticides for future studies. The methodology used in this article involves a literature review conducted through Publish or Perish and bibliometric analysis using the VOSviewer databases, which collectively encompass 1000 papers. Assessing scientific research progress is crucial for formulating goals and rationalizing future efforts. Based on the results of the bibliometric analysis, biopesticides derived from Bacillus thuringiensis, as well as bacteria, fungi, and other types of microbes, have the potential to be researched and developed as mosquito vector control biopesticide products. Microbial pesticides obtained from actinomycetes, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), B. sphaericus (Bs), Lysinibacillus sphaericusand, Saccharopolyspora spinosa, Wolbachia and many other microorganisms are reported as environmentally friendly alternatives for mosquito control.
