Abstract

This article aims to describe how the TPR method can introduce English to the beginners or the first year of elementary school. In introducing English to very young learners (5-7 years old), students are not focused on reading and writing skills because students in this level are still in the level of introducing the letter, reading, and writing their first language (Indonesia language). On the other words, students concentrate on listening and speaking skills in learning English. The techniques used for students at 5-7 years old and related to TPR method are game, singing English songs,and telling story. Media used are picture, cards, realia, English song cassete,etc in hope that students can memorize English words easily.

Abstract

Based on the observations of researchers to the process of teaching and learning  English in Primary School Teacher Education Programs, Faculty of Education, Unesa ,actually learning that used multimedia-based instructional such as Snakes and Ladders Digital still rare. Until now book text (print media) is still dominating the media used to teach at Primary School Teacher Education. That is why it is necessary to develop the Digital Media Learning Snakes and Ladders as a variety of media learning and improve student mastery of English language ability, particularly in terms of vocabulary.

Abstract

Salah satu prinsip yang paling penting dari konsep pendidikan adalah pendidik tidak dapat hanya semata-mata memberikan pengetahuan kepada anak didik. Anak didik harus membangun pengetahuannya sendiri dalam benaknya. Pendidik dapat membantu proses ini, dengan cara-cara mengajar yang membuat informasi menjadi sangat bermakna dan sangat relevan bagi anak didik, dengan memberikan kesempatan kepada anak didik untuk menemukan atau menerapkan sendiri ide-ide, dan dengan mengajak anak didik agar dengan menyadari dan secara sadar menggunakan strategi-strategi mereka sendiri untuk belajar. Menurut Nur (1999), pendidik dapat memberi “tangga” yang dapat membantu anak didik mencapai tingkat pemahaman yang lebih tinggi, namun harus diupayakan agar anak didik sendiri yang memanjat tangga tersebut

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to examine the effect of using digital storybooks in improving listening skills among elementary school students, with a focus on optimizing neurolinguistics within the context of the Merdeka Curriculum. The research employs a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach involving two groups. These groups consist of an experimental group using digital storybooks as a medium for listening practice, and a control group using conventional learning methods. Data were collected through listening skill tests, classroom observations, student perception questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews. The results show that the experimental group experienced a significant improvement in listening skills, with higher post-test scores compared to the control group. The digital storybooks, which combine visual, audio, and interactivity elements, successfully enhanced student engagement and comprehension of the material being listened to. Overall, this study supports the use of digital storybooks as an effective learning medium to improve elementary students' listening skills and reinforces the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum, which is based on fun and creative learning. Abstrak Penelitian ini menganalisis inovasi pembelajaran menyimak dengan buku dongeng digital dalam mengoptimalkan neurolinguistik siswa sekolah dasar dalam konteks Kurikulum Merdeka. Dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan desain eksperimen semu, penelitian ini membandingkan kelompok eksperimen yang menggunakan buku dongeng digital dan kelompok kontrol yang menerapkan metode konvensional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen mengalami peningkatan signifikan dalam keterampilan menyimak, dengan skor post-test meningkat dari 68 menjadi 84 (t = 12.89, p = 0.0001), dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol yang hanya naik dari 69 menjadi 74 (t = 2.51, p = 0.021). Secara neurolinguistik, buku dongeng digital yang menggabungkan elemen visual, audio, dan interaktivitas mampu merangsang berbagai area otak yang berperan dalam pemrosesan bahasa, seperti korteks auditori, korteks visual, dan area Broca serta Wernicke, sehingga meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterlibatan siswa dalam proses menyimak. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa buku dongeng digital tidak hanya efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menyimak tetapi juga berperan dalam mengoptimalkan pemrosesan bahasa siswa secara neurolinguistik. Oleh karena itu, buku dongeng digital dapat dijadikan media pembelajaran inovatif yang mendukung prinsip pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman dalam Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the understanding of grade 5 students about data presentation by using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach supported by diagramboard media. The background of this research is students' poor understanding of data presentation, which is characterized by their difficulty in understanding and presenting data in formats such as tables, graphs, and diagrams. This research is a second-class action research cycle. The first cycle involves the use of a problem-based learning (PBL) approach with the help of diagramboard media, and the second cycle is an improvement from the first cycle based on reflection carried out. The data collection methods carried out are observation, tests, and interviews. The data were analyzed in a qualitative and quantitative descriptive manner. The results of the study show that using the PBL approach with the help of diagramboard media can help 5th grade students understand data presentation better. The percentage of student learning completion in the first cycle was 67%, and increased to 86% in the second cycle. In addition, students' activity and their enthusiasm for learning have also increased significantly from category “quite active” in the first cycle to “very active” in the second cycle. Students are more skilled in presenting data and are more actively involved in the problem-solving process.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the understanding of grade IV elementary school students about the concept of the water cycle. Students have difficulty visualizing and understanding the complex processes of the water cycle. This research will use diorama media and the Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach to improve student understanding. The research method used is classroom action research with two cycles. Each school consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Concept comprehension tests, observation of learning activities, and interviews were used to collect data. The subject of the study was a IV student of Manukan Kulon State Elementary School Surabaya. The results of the study show that the use of diorama media with the PBL approach can improve students' understanding of the water cycle. In the first cycle, the percentage of student learning completion increased to 65% and 85%, and student learning activities also increased, as shown by the increase in student enthusiasm and participation in learning. In the interview, students revealed that the PBL approach and diorama media helped them understand the concept of the water cycle in a more concrete and in-depth way. This study shows that grade IV students better understand the water cycle by using dioramas and problem-based learning approaches. This shows how important it is to use innovative learning media and apply a student-centered learning approach to improve the quality of education in primary schools.

Abstract

This Class Action Research aims to improve the understanding of grade 5 students about the human respiratory system through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model with 3D concrete media of respiratory organs. The background of this research is the low understanding of students about abstract respiratory system material. The use of PBL models is expected to encourage students to actively solve problems related to the respiratory system, while 3D media of respiratory organs can help students visualize the concepts learned. The research method used is Classroom Action Research with two cycles. In each cycle, planning, implementation of actions, observation. Data collection instruments include learning outcome tests, observation sheets of student and teacher activities, and interviews. Data analysis is carried out quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show that the application of the PBL model with 3D media of respiratory organs can improve the understanding of grade 5 students about the human respiratory system. In the first cycle, the average student learning outcome score reached 75, and increased to 85 in the second cycle. In addition, student learning activities also increased from the category of "quite active" in the first cycle to "very active" in the second cycle. Based on the results of the class action Research students felt more enthusiastic and easily understood the respiratory system material with the help of 3D media.

Abstract

This classroom action research was conducted based on the problems found at SDN Manukan Kulon II/499 Surabaya Surabaya. The issue is in the lack of enthusiasm among students towards studying the content of emulating Pancasila conduct, which therefore affects their inferior academic performance. The research aims to enhance student learning outcomes by utilizing Smart Box media to simulate Pancasila behavior in grade V. The study included a sample of 27 kids from fourth to sixth grade at SDN Manukan Kulon II/499 Surabaya. Objective of this study is to examine student learning results. Primary methods of data collecting are observation, testing, and documenting. The study was carried out in two cycle. In cycle I, the highest score obtained was 100 and the lowest was 40, with a class average of 71.5. Students who achieved learning completion were 31%, and students who had not achieved learning completion were 69%. In cycle II, the highest score obtained was 100 and the lowest was 70, with a class average of 88.8. Students who achieved learning completion were 77%, and those who had not achieved learning completion were 23%. Therefore, it can be inferred that the consumption of Smart Box media has the potential to enhance the educational achievements of students in classes V-B at SDN Manukan Kulon II/499 Surabaya on the material of imitating Pancasila behavior in the Pancasila Education subject.
