Abstract

The background of our research is based on the existence of stigmas in Christian society regarding the fact that present youth, other than being predicted as future leaders, are at the crossroads of searching for participation inside and outside the church. Thus, based on these phenomena, church youth tend to be labeled as critical but feeble community members when dealing with service realities in church and educational institutions. The qualitative research method applied interviews to unearth the research subjects' narratives as a tribute to the youth's silenced voices. The research aimed to show the intertwined journey—both at the beginning, intersection, and turning point of the journey itself—as a citizen of the church as well as a citizen of society who is responsible for their faith. Results of the project showed that church youth were not only involved in school participation but also in church service circles and social actions

Abstract

The purpose of this research paper is to explore the extent of Arthur Schopenhauer's thoughts in seeing and penetrating ideas, desires, preferences, and plausibility through distancing, colliding, and giving meaning when he encounters music, social issues, and multi-disciplines without losing the self-image of music. Qualitative research with data search on previous writings through journals as a secondary source became a room to argue Arthur Schopenhauer's thoughts with intelligence, non-simplification of something complex and enjoy without the need for validation. Results show that the objectivation of the will as Arthur Schopenhauer's central idea leads to visual space in the frame of images, songs, lyrics, narratives, processes, and struggles as the essence of music that permeates and boils down to reflection and asceticism.

Abstract

Based on the research, this study aims to reflect the thought of Juan Luis Segundo, a theology-oriented scholar and philosopher whose style of thought itself is not far from phenomenological and existentialist philosophical analysis tools for the development of theology, although this philosophy basically needs to get attention when it encounters contexts (global, regional, national to local) in religion, culture, and social circles. Based on this research, this study is conducted as qualitative research with data retrieval techniques through secondary sources. Secondary sources include the selection of relevant journals, recent or originating from the last 10 years which encounter the reality of theology and thought patterned on phenomenological-existentialist philosophy on theology that favors orthodoxy rather than orthopraxy. Results have shown that the introduction of orthopraxis as foothold of theology without neglecting orthodoxy is crucial in order to determine the extent to which phenomenology is further existentialized even though it clashes with the era and/or generation.

Abstract

Dayak Ngaju is one of the most prominent tribes in Central Borneo. From the beginning, the People of Dayak Ngaju lived with many different belief systems so even though they didn’t understand what moderation meant, they always live in that diversity all along their life. This research was to the women of Dayak Ngaju to observe their perspectives on religious moderation compared to the critical history of Ruth's author as a Bible text with women as a central figure. This research uses the qualitative method with an ethnography approach and a critical history of Biblica interpretation to express their paradigm about moderation itself. The result of this research points out how the women of Dayak Ngaju have a major tendency to be agents of moderation in Dayak Ngaju people because of the active connection of them in family and society like Ruth as center figure of the author of Ruth in the Old Testament.
