Abstract

In the last few decades, coral reef ecosystem has been under significant pressure due to anthropogenic impacts and naturally driven factors. The coral reef ecosystem is unique because it has very high biodiversity and many organisms depend on its existence. Every organism in a coral reef ecosystem uniquely contributes to how coral reef communities survive and function. However, coral reef ecosystems are also vulnerable to pressures that cause degradation, interfering with the ecosystem balance. This study aims to monitor the ecological condition of coral reefs and the abundance of reef fish to see how the MPA program in Bahoi village helps the coral reef ecosystem from degradation. The data was collected using Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method, which was drawn 70 meters transect line horizontally at a depth of 3-5 meters. The same transect line was also used to collect data about reef fish by using a Visual Census. The observation distance length is 2.5 meters to the left and right of the transect line. Results of the study showed that the coral cover of MPA Bahoi Village is in the Fair category and the abundance of reef fish in the MPA area is in the Moderate category.  Keywords: Coral Cover; Coral Reef; Marine Protected Area (MPA); Monitoring; Reef Fish

Abstract

Echinodermata are found quite commonly in the tidal areas of Lembeh Island but their diversity and abundance have not been well documented. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of Echinoderms and their abundance at Pancuran Beach, Lembeh Island, Bitung City. Samples were taken at two stations using the Lincoln-Smith Transect method 2 x 50 m which was stretched perpendicular to the beach with three replications. Samples were identified in situ and the number of individuals of each species was noted. The results showed that in Pancuran Beach there were 18 species of phylum Echinodermata; with details of 7 species from the Asteroidea class, 5 species of Echinoidea, 4 species of Ophiuroidea, 2 species of Holothuroidea. The results of the analysis using the diversity index show that the diversity of Echinodermata at both stations is in the medium category, characterized by the value of H' = 2.06 for station I and H'= 2.35 for station II.  At station 1, the type of Ophiocoma erinaceus has the highest density of 15 ind/100m2 and a relative abundance of 23.68%. At station II Echinothrix diadema has the highest abundance of 12 ind/100m2 with a relative abundance of 17.14%. Common species found in both stations are Diadema setosum, Echinometra mathaei, Echinothrix diadema, Holothuria atra, Ophiocoma erinaceus, and Ophiocoma scolopendrina. Keywords: Lembeh Island, Diversity, Abundance, Echinoderms Abstrak Echinodermata ditemukan cukup umum di daerah pasang surut Pulau Lembeh namun keanekaragaman dan kelimpahannya belum sepenuhnya didokumentasikan dengan baik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis Echinodermata dan kelimpahannya di Pantai Pancuran, Pulau Lembeh Kota Bitung. Sampel diambil pada dua stasiun dengan menggunakan metode Lincoln-Smith Transect 2 x 50 m yang dibentangkan tegak lurus ke arah pantai dengan tiga replikasi. Sampel diidentifikasi secara insitu dan jumlah individu tiap spesies dicatat. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa di Pantai Pancuran terdapat 18 spesies filum Echinodermata; dengan rincian 7 spesies dari kelas Asteroidea, 5 spesies Echinoidea, 4 spesies Ophiuroidea, 2 spesies Holothuroidea. Hasil analisa menggunakan indeks keanekaragaman menunjukkan bahwa diversitas Echinodermata pada kedua stasiun dalam kategori sedang, ditandai dengan nilai H' = 2,06 untuk stasiun I dan H'= 2,35 untuk stasiun II.  Pada stasiun 1, jenis Ophiocoma erinaceus paling tinggi densitasnya yakni 15 ind/100m2 dan kelimpahan relatif 23,68%, Pada stasiun II Echinothrix diadema memiliki kelimpahan tertinggi yakni 12 ind/100m2 dengan kelimpahan relatif 17,14%. Jenis yang umum terdapat pada kedua stasiun adalah Diadema setosum, Echinometra mathaei, Echinothrix diadema, Holothuria atra, Ophiocoma erinaceus, dan Ophiocoma scolopendrina. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know about the type of seagrass, the community structure of seagrass based on the density of type, the density of the relatively, type of frequency, frequency relatively, type of cover, cover relatively, diversity index, dominance and parameter index in surrounding water environment of seagrass at Ratatotok beach. The result of this research is identifying 4 species, namely; Thalassia hemprichii, Enhalus acoroides, Syringodium isoetifolium dan Halodule pinifolia. The value of density is 39 indv/m2, the value type of frequency is 7.9, the value type of cover is 39.15, importance value index had 159.04%. Thalassia hemprichii, diversity index is “medium” with an average value (H’) of 2.63 and a higher importance index with an average value of C of 0.82. Surrounding waters at Ratototok Beach got a “medium” value of seagrass cover value is 39%. Environmental parameters in surrounding waters at Ratatotok beach had a value within; Temperature 31.95 0C, salinity 29.79o/oo, pH 7.62, DO 5.60 mg/L and the type of substrate found is sandy, sandy mud and coral fragments. Abstrak Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui jenis lamun, struktur komuntas lamun berdasarkan kepadatan jenis, kepadatan relatif, frekuensi jenis, frekuensi relatif, penutupan jenis, penutupan relatif, indeks keanekaragaman, indeks dominansi dan parameter lingkungan perairan padang lamun yang berada di sekitar Pantai Ratatotok. Hasil yang di peroleh dari penelitian ini teridentifikasi 4 spesies, yaitu: Thalassia hemprichii, Enhalus acoroides, Syringodium isoetifolium dan Halodule pinifolia. Dengan nilai kepadatan 39 ind/m2, frekuensi jenis 7,9, penutupan jenis 39,15, Indeks nilai penting (INP) diperoleh nilai 159,04 %,  pada Thalassia hemprichii, Indeks keanekaragaman “sedang” dengan nilai rata-rata (H’) 2,63 dan indeks dominansi tinggi dengan nilai rata-rata C 0,82. Berdasarkan kategori penutupan lamun yang terdapat di sekitar Perairan Ratatotok dikategorikan “sedang” dengan nilai penutupan 39%. Parameter lingkungan antara lain: suhu 31,95 0C, salinitas 29,79 o/oo, pH 7,62, DO 5,60 mg/l dan jenis substrat yang di temukan adalah berpasir, pasir berlumpur dan pecahan karang. Abstract

The objective of this research is to formulate strategies for the sustainable use of the seagrass ecosystem in the coastal area around Borgo Village, Belang District, Southeast Minahasa Regency as a public policy recommendation that can be given to the local regional government. The research method is a survey method with an interview technique using a questionnaire addressed to the heads of relevant agencies as resource persons.  The formulation of priority strategies is analyzed through the following stages: 1) Establishing the vision, mission, and values ​of the organization, 3) Analysis of the strategic environment, 4) Analysis of the final conclusions of internal and external factors, 5) SWOT analysis matrix, and (6) Determining critical success factors through strategic choice analysis. The research results obtained 6 priority strategies, namely: 1) Make academic papers as a data base on: a) coastal and marine resource profiles, b) social, economic and cultural data, and c) legal data and community institutions in the region the coast of Borgo Village and its surroundings; 2) Carry out technical guidance, counseling and outreach to the coastal communities of Borgo Village and its surroundings; 3) Provide guidance to fishermen and input to the government of Southeast Minahasa Regency so that the seagrass ecosystem area on the coast of Borgo Village and its surroundings is not used as a boat mooring location and a location for disposal of marine debris or household waste; 4) Make standard operational procedures on boat moorings, disposal of marine debris, household waste, and marine conservation techniques for the coastal communities of Borgo Village and its surroundings; 5) Empowerment of fishermen or coastal communities in Borgo Village and its surroundings in order to carry out the task of supervising and monitoring coastal and marine resources, as well as fostering the quality and processing of fishery products; and 6) Make a spatial plan for the Minapolitan area in the coastal area of Belang Regency based on Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2017 of North Sulawesi Province. Keywords: Borgo Village, seagrass ecosystem, sustainable use, priority strategy Abstrak Tujuan penelitian adalah merumuskan strategi pemanfaatan berkelanjutan ekosistem padang lamun di pesisir sekitar Desa Borgo, Kecamatan Belang, Kabupaten Minahasa Tenggara sebagai rekomendasi kebijakan publik untuk diberikan kepada Pemerintah Daerah setempat.  Metode penelitian adalah metode survei dengan teknik wawancara menggunakan kuesioner ditujukan kepada pimpinan instansi terkait sebagai narasumber.  Perumusan strategi prioritas dianalisis melalui tahapan: 1) Menetapkan visi, misi dan nilai organisasi, 3) Analisis lingkungan strategis, 4) Analisis kesimpulan akhir faktor internal dan eksternal, 5) Matriks analisis SWOT, dan (6) Menetapkan faktor-faktor kunci keberhasilan melalui analisis pilihan strategis.  Hasil penelitian diperoleh 6 strategi prioritas, yaitu: 1) Membuat naskah akademik sebagai database tentang: a) profil sumber daya pesisir dan laut, b) data sosial, ekonomi dan budaya, dan c) data hukum dan kelembagaan masyarakat di pesisir Desa Borgo dan sekitarnya; 2) Melaksanakan bimbingan teknis, penyuluhan dan sosialisasi kepada masyarakat pesisir Desa Borgo dan sekitarnya; 3) Memberikan pembinaan kepada nelayan dan masukan kepada Pemerintah Kab. Minahasa Tenggara, agar di area ekosistim lamun pesisir Desa Borgo dan sekitarnya tidak dijadikan lokasi penambatan perahu dan tempat pembuangan sampah laut atau limbah rumah tangga; 4) Membuat SOP tentang tambatan perahu, tempat pembuangan sampah laut dan limbah rumah tangga, dan teknis konservasi laut kepada masyarakat pesisir Desa Borgo dan sekitarnya; 5) Memberdayakan nelayan atau masyarakat pesisir Desa Borgo dan sekitarnya dalam rangka melaksanakan tugas pengawasan dan pemantauan sumber daya pesisir dan laut, serta pembinaan mutu dan pengolahan hasil perikanan; dan 6) Membuat perencanaan penataan ruang di kawasan Minapolitan wilayah pesisir Belang berdasarkan Perda No. 1 Tahun 2017 Prov.
