Abstract

The study aims to show the implementation of Deaf Space design guidelines application in the Deaf Exhibition Center building. Even to increase society's understanding of the need for public space access facilities for hearing disabilities. The relation between persons with hearing disabilities and space is the most fundamental thing in creating a space experience (interiority). Interiority is processed prioritizing high visual orientation, and encourages the totality of other sensory experiences based on the philosophy of Deaf Space. In terms of interior design, persons with hearing disabilities have other space needs and are more specific.. Space experience, using the principle of Deaf Space design, namely 1) space and proximity, 2)  sensory reach, 3) mobility and proximity, 4)  light and color, dan 5) acoustic as a concept of implementation, is one way to create a particular space experience. As a conception of application, is one way to create a particular space experience. Deaf space design guidelines are considered an important aspect in determining design concepts and are influenced by hearing disabilities' behavioral characteristics of interiority (relations between space and humans). Context of hearing disability behavior which includes a series of stages of exploration process and interpretation by subject in it gives birth to an interiority. Interiority is the presence of oneself being able to comfort in this space. Interiority isnot merely a spatial concept, but concept in which disunited spaces can be one uniting body, mind, and space. The interiority in exhibition space toward hearing disability behavior can be implemented in design concept for hearing disability, so hearing disability users or visitors can engage in community interaction conversations and need space called "deaf space". The results of this study contribute to application of the Deaf Space design concept in DEC building toward behavior of hearing disability user, so that they can activity independently and productively.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menitikberatkan pada perkembangan permainan anak usia prasekolah dari dua media permainan, yaitu digital dan analog dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen yang diujikan kepada tiga belas responden dengan kisaran usia 3"“5 tahun di Temasek International Montessori Preschool. Objek penelitian yang digunakan adalah permainan jenga digital dengan media iPad dan jenga analog. Berlandaskan konsep utama permainan oleh Oxland, penulis menganalisis pola bermain anak dan pola interaksi dengan kedua jenis media tersebut. Sinkronisasi permainan dengan elemen pembanding yang disebutkan Oxland dibandingkan dengan permainan jenga dari dua media. Penelitian ini menilai keterampilan bermain anak pada kedua jenis permainan berdasarkan jumlah balok yang berhasil dipindahkan. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan adanya kecenderungan anak usia prasekolah lebih menikmati permainan analog karena kemampuan memanipulasi objek secara langsung. Permainan digital dinilai dapat diperkenalkan pada anak usia di atas enam tahun karena sensitivitas sensor anak pada usia ini lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelompok usia anak di bawahnya. Kata kunci: jemga, anak prasekolah, permainan digital, permainan analog This study emphasizes the development of pre-school children's games in two different media: digital and analog. This study used an experimental method tested on thirteen respondents ranging from the age of 3-5 years who attended the Temasek International Montessori Pre-School. The object of the research is digital Jenga with the iPad media and analog Jenga. Based on the main concept of the game by Oxland, the children's playing patterns in both types of media to interact with the game were analyzed. The synchronizations of the game with the elements mentioned by Oxland were compared with the use of the two media of Jenga game. This research evaluated the children's skill in playing both types of game according to the number of blocks successfully transferred. It was found that the pre-school children tended to enjoy the analog game more than the digital due to their ability to directly manipulate the objects. The digital game is considered more appropriate to be introduced to children over 6 years old due to their higher sensory capability than that of the younger groups. Abstract

Hambatan arsitektural bagi  disabilitas  pendengaran terhadap desain universal yang diaplikasikan  dalam kebutuhan jauh lebih jelas dan biasanya melibatkan informasi. Padahal disabilitas  pendengaran memiliki kebutuhan ruang yang bersifat lebih spesifik. Penelitian bertujuan berusaha untuk memperbaiki konsep desain asli dengan membuat perguruan tinggi  lebih universal dan mengintegrasikan penerapan desain universal dengan  desain  Deaf Space di ruang kuliah. Ruang kuliah berfungsi sebagai tempat kegiatan belajar mengajar bagi  mahasiswa disabilitas  pendengaran dan strategi untuk mengatasinya. Studi kasus di ruang kuliah gedung CADL di ITB, kemudian dilakukan eksperimen  simulasi ruang kuliah bagi  responden  mahasiswa aktif/alumni/drop out  disabilitas pendengaran dan informan kunci yang memahami regulasi desain universal. Guna memecahkan masalah tersebut, mendesain sebuah konsepsi desain Deaf Space kemudian dijelaskan penerapan konsep desain universal yang terkait aspek elemen interior.  Metode penelitian adalah kualitatif deskriptif dan metode survei dengan teknik wawancara untuk mendapatkan data kebutuhan dari subjek penelitian. Penelitian juga bersifat evaluatif, yaitu menganalisis aspek elemen interior, yaitu area sirkulasi, tata letak furnitur, pencahayaan, warna dan akustik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan aspe elemen interior tersebut di ruang kuliah belum memenuhi standar desain universal dan desain Deaf Space

Abstract

Advertising billboards is outdoor media conventional, but currently there are phenomena advertising by utilizing wall house or store in a public hall in town. Utilization wall as advertisement media is approach alternative against outdoor advertising at the research is done. The purpose of this research is to know about development advertising wall painting based on characteristic and strategies the visuals on the media. Method research used writer is descriptive analysis in finding and develop object research with the adoption of data via process interview observation and a questionnaire interview structure. Parameters research reviewed based on aspects characteristic visual contained in object radiotelegraphy; tataletak, color, logo, typography, texture, and graphics groundswell. Aspect strategy visual radiotelegraphy; visualization coquet; attached in memory, strengthen trust, maintain attention, and form Attached in memory, strengthen trust, maintain attention, and forming association. Characteristic of visual and strategy visual advertising wall painting show the form visualizations simple. Logo and color is most important element make advertising now that can work effective. Notch advertising wall painting in the series of processes of communication advertising is as an advertisement amplifier and reminder that becomes a fastener of the series a promotion is there.

Abstract

Minangkabau is an ethnic group in West Sumatra with a matrilineal ideology. The tradition of eating bajamba is an activity that has many meanings and is closely related to the role of women. For this reason, this research was conducted to find out how the role of women and the meaning implied in the tradition of eating bajamba in the rumah gadang. The ethnographic research method was used to obtain literature and field data with a qualitative research approach and descriptive analysis. From the results of the study, it was found that the role of women greatly influenced the process and layout of the area when eating bajamba at the rumah gadang. Research findings can be used as a guide and preserve the implementation of Bajamba eating activities so that they are not eroded by time. Minangkabau adalah kelompok suku-suku di Sumatera Barat yang berpaham matrilineal. Tradisi makan bajamba merupakan kegiatan yang memiliki banyak makna dan sangat berkaitan dengan peran perempuan, karenanya penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran perempuan dan makna yang tersirat dalam tradisi makan bajamba di rumah gadang. Metode penelitian etnografi digunakan untuk memperoleh data literatur dan lapangan dengan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif serta analisis deskriptif. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa peran perempuan sangat mempengaruhi proses dan tata letak area pada saat makan bajamba di rumah gadang. Temuan penelitian dapat dijadikan panduan serta melestarikan pelaksanakan kegiatan makan bajamba agar tidak tergerus oleh zaman.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Monumentality is the quality of buildings and monuments, the achievements of which help shape the identity of the place they exist. As a landmark, the object is indicated monumental through several potentials it has. One historical monument in Jakarta, the National Monument (Monas), which have an important historical record in the development of Jakarta City during the Soekarno’s era and has survived to this day, is significant to study how to fulfill their monumentality indicators not only to strengthen and build public perception of their monumental achievements but also to support strategic plans that can be carried out in the future. The research applies a combined method; qualitative and quantitative approaches. Qualitative research was carried out with theoretical testing regarding the fulfillment of the old and new monumentality indicators on this monument, strengthened through interviews with experts. Quantitative research was conducted to measure the preferences of respondents who were categorized as millennial and pre-millennial groups towards the object of research based on their recall potential or memorability. The potential for remembrance was chosen because it is the perennial essence of monumentality. The results of the study show that the achievement of indicators of monumentality and respondent's preference for the research object, the highest is occupied by Monas, surpasses the achievements of other monuments within the same category and is also well recognized by the Millenials, not much different from the older generation (pre millenial).   There are several points of monumentality indicators that have not been met, especially from the new paradigm, but looking at the facts of the overall achievements of Monas, it can be affirmed that the indications of devaluation of monuments that fail to respond to the needs of their time and society are not proven.

Abstract

Bangunan cagar budaya memuat identitas budaya dan merupakan saksi perkembangan peradaban. Namun pada tatanan kehidupan modern bangunan cagar budaya tidak lagi memiliki fungsi yang sama dengan mulanya. Adanya perbedaan fungsi tersebut merupakan salah satu upaya untuk mempertahankan keberadaan bangunan tersebut melalui melahirkan fungsi baru yang menyesuaikan dengan kebutuhan kehidupan sosial budaya saat ini. Siasat tersebut juga merupakan salah satu upaya melaksanakan pembangunan minim emisi dengan cara mengoptimalkan fungsi dari bangunan yang sudah ada. Prinsip yang erat kaitannya dengan praktik optimasilasi bangunan cagar budaya dikenal dengan adaptive reuse. Pada objek bangunan cagar budaya strategi adaptive reuse dijalankan dengan pendekatan placemaking. Gedung Filateli merupakan bangunan cagar budaya yang direvitalisasi dengan pendekatan placemaking. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi indikator uses dan activities pada placemaking fase I  Gedung Filateli, khususnya area great hall. Identifikasi indikator uses dan activitiy bertujuan untuk mengetahui terpenuhi atau tidaknya kebutuhan masyarakat melalui pendekatan placemaking yang dilakukan pada Gedung Filateli.  Metoda yang digunakan dalam penulisan artikel ini adalah observasi dan deskriptif. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan pada placemaking Gedung Filateli khususnya area great hall , area tersebut berhasil mewadahi beragam aktivitas dan program kegiatan sehingga indikator uses dan activities sudah teridentifikasi  dan terpenuhi.

Abstract

Semiotics is a language of signs, semiotics is widely used as a tool to translate something, one of which is the post office logo, the purpose of this study is to see how the semiotic language developed by Roland Barthes can represent the post office logo in the form of a bird and lines and colors. unified, Roland Barthes theorized semiotics is between signs and signs, besides that there are also levels in the meaning of this semiotic theory, this research approach is Semiotic analysis is a qualitative data analysis technique whose goal is to find or systematically analyze symbols or signs in a text , from the results of this study there is a distortion of myth, as a marker is a dove which has a meaning or a sign that a bird has a strong myth as a means of sending letters in historical times, so that the use of Roland Barthes' semiotics can analyze the semiotic language of a h the post office logo, the thing that must be emphasized is the important role of the reader, in the sense that the meaning of a work depends on the person who is of course influenced by many factors both internal and external.Keywords: semiotics, roland barthes, post office. AbstrakSemiotika merupakan Bahasa tanda, semiotika banyak digunakan sebagai alat untuk menerjemahkan sesuatu, salah satunya ialah logo kantor pos, tujuan penelitian ini ialah melihat bagaimana Bahasa semiotika yang di kembangkan oleh roland barthes ini, dapat merepresentasikkan logo kantor pos yang berupa burung dan garis Tarik serta warna yang tersatukkan , roland barthes berteori semiotika ialah antara tanda dan pertanda, disamping itu juga ada tingkatan dalam pemaknaan dari teori semiotika ini, pendekatan penelitian ini ialah Analisis semiotika adalah teknik analisis data kualitatif yang tujuannya untuk menemukan atau menganalisis secara sistematis simbol atau tanda dalam sebuah teks, dari hasil peneltian ini terdapat distorsi pada mitos, sebagai penanda ialah burung merpati yang memiliki makna  atau pertanda burung memiliki mitos yang kuat ikatannya sebagai alat pengiriman surat pada zaman sejarah, sehingga penggunaan semiotika roland barthes dapat menganalisis Bahasa semiotika dari sebuah logo kantor pos, hal yag harus ditekankan ialah pentingnya peran dari pembaca, dalam artian pemaknaan suatu karya tergantung dari personal yang tentunya dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor baik internal ataupun eksternal.Kata Kunci: semiotika, roland barthes, kantor pos. Authors:Ahmad Riyadi Swandhani : Institut Teknologi BandungDeddy Wahjudi : Institut Teknologi BandungLukitaningsih : Universitas Negeri MedanReferences:Aulia, F., Afriawan, H., & Faisal, D. Abstract

Campus building is where students undergo of learning process and perform various activities. In learning process, campus should provide universal design facilities for students all, including students with disabilities. The design of campus is important factor in operation and service of a higher education. Universal design concept on lecture space in CADL ITB building can make it easier of activity for students with hearing disabilities. The purpose of this research is test a universal design strategy for reducing hearing impairment, visual communication barriers and assistive technology strengthen, but universal design concept to hearing disabilities that is much different and usually involves visual signs.This research uses 3 stages of method that is descriptive qualitative, classification analysis, and proposal design solution method. Using the parameters of universal design principles, factors involved in application can be classified to determine the problem of lecture space in CADL ITB as a case study. Then observation of interview result through questionnaire of 60 respondents of students/alumni/drop out of hearing disability in various universities stated that it is still difficult to be accessed in lecture space because there is no universal design facility available. While informants 10 persons academic and not academic people understand and universal design knowledge for disabled except hearing disability. Research results of this study indicate that universal design concept on lecture space in CADL ITB building not optimal, then existing problems will be given a design solution to maximize of universal design concept.

Abstract

The effect of various urban problems and the increasing of advanced information technology, leading the concept of SOHO (Small Office Home Office) as an alternative solution in operating small- to medium-scale home-based business are set to have significant application in recent years in Indonesia. Yet the context of residential home as a private space for activity of a family live is resulting in chances of privacy conflicts when it is matched to concept of SOHO application inclining to have social and open-ended characteristics for the public. Therefore, the privacy control is necessary for maintaining dweller’s privacy and homeostatic condition in residential home.The aim of this research was to understand how was the pattern of privacy control by means of visual, audio, and olfactory interaction that take place in 10 residential home units chosen for object of study. This research is a qualitative study which delivered descriptively through interpretative analysis using theory of Behavior Setting approach, and such supporting theories as dwelling theory, theory of adaptation and adjustment, theory of privacy, territorial, and personal space. The results of the research shown that the privacy control pattern is more intomanaging visual interaction related to privacy by means of privacy artifact control, differentiation of floor level or using verbal language. Overall results of analysis of privacy control variable are then proposed as tendency of dweller privacy control design to apply concept of SOHO to residential home. Keywords: control; home, office; privacy; SOHO
