Abstract

This research aims to analyze the quality of test Arabic as a foreign language (TOAFL) items in Hayim Asy’ari University Tabuireng Jombang of perspective higher order thinking skills. The approach used for this research is qualitative and quantitative. The researcher used the qualitative approach to distribute the question items in terms of the cognitive domain at the higher level in the Arabic language test. Data were taken through documentation of results. The results of this research are: 1) The distribution of the items of this test in terms of the cognitive domain in the level of higher thinking skill is of six classifications that mean remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating: 2) Their quality in terms of difficulty coefficient did not meet the criteria of good test items. Because there is no moderation in the number of questions from the level, and as for their quality from the discrimination coefficient, there is a single question that must be eliminated and replaced with new questions.

Abstract

The research purpose is to know Arabic vocabulary acquisition on students by traditional game cublak-cublak suweng (CSS). The applied approach in this research is PTK (class based research) held in cycles. Each cycle composed two meetings. The first meeting is used to give the material, drill vocabularies, and give test paper connected with fresh taught vocabularies. Second meeting is used to review taught vocabularies in first meeting by traditional game CSS. The data collection is by using interview, observation, giving tests, and documentation. The result of research indicates using game method, especially in traditional game cublak-cublak suweng increase students' Arabic vocabulary acquisition. The indicator is increasing grades degree from first cycle to other cycles; lack in first cycle, sufficient in second cycle, and good in third cycle.

Abstract

This research examined the production of an educational crossword puzzle game used to facilitate Arabic vocabulary learning in Madrasah Aliyah. Using the Research and Development Approach by Borg and Gall, the authors used 4 stages to produce the product:  exploration, product development, testing, and finalization. After analyzing the data using methods, the results show a score of 5 (very good category) and validated media experts with a score of 4.8. (Very good category), and limited trials with a score of 4.4 (very good category) and field trials with a score of 4.5 (good category). Further research is needed to expand this vocabulary learning technique beyond this small dataset.
