Abstract

“Effect of NPK Fertilizer Dosage and Number of Seeds on Growth and Yield of Two Cob Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Rajasa 01 varieties". This study aimed to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer and the number of seeds on the growth and yield of two cob rice varieties, Rajasa 01. This research was carried out in Lubang Indah Village, Lawe Alas District, Southeast Aceh Regency, from January to April 2021. The materials used in this study were 5 kg Rajasa 01 rice seeds (cob rice), the essential fertilizer used in this research. Used solid compost and NPK fertilizer. The design used in this study was a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with two factorial studies. The first factor is the effect of the dose of NPK fertilizer (N), which consists of 3 levels, N1: 200 kg/ha, N2: 250 kg/ha, and N3: 300 kg/ha. The second factor is the number of seeds per planting hole (J), which consists of 3 levels, J1: 1 seed/planting hole, J2: 2 seeds/planting hole, and J3: 3 seeds/planting hole. There were nine treatment combinations and three replications, so there were 27 experimental plots. Observations of growth components were observed starting from the emergence of shoots to yield, namely plant height (cm), number of tillers of rice plants per Clump, number of grains per panicle, panicle length per Clump (cm), and weight per 1000 grains of grain. The results showed that the dose of NPK fertilizer significantly affected the variables of plant height at 60 DAP and 1000 grain weight. However, it had no significant effect on the variables of plant height at 30 and 45 DAP, number of tillers per Clump at 30, 45, and 60 DAP, number of panicles per Clump, panicle length per Clump, number of grain per panicle, plant height at 60 DAP and 1000 grain weight. The highest grain was found at 300 kg/ha (N3) dose of NPK fertilizer. The number of rice seeds significantly affects the weight of 1000 grains and the number of grains per panicle. However, it had no significant impact on the variables of plant height and several tillers per Clump at the age of 30, 45, and 60 DAP; the number of panicles per Clump, panicle length per Clump, and the highest plants were found in 2 seedlings/planting hole (J2). There was no significant interaction between the treatment dose of NPK fertilizer and the number of rice seedlings on all observed variables.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of compost fertilizer and potassium chloride (KCl) fertilizer, as well as their interaction, on the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt). The experiment was conducted from May to August 2022 in Kuning Village, Bambel District, Southeast Aceh, using a factorial randomized block design with two factors: compost dosage (480 g/plot, 960 g/plot, 1,440 g/plot) and KCl dosage (20 g/plot, 40 g/plot, 60 g/plot), each replicated three times for a total of 27 plots. Observed parameters included plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, days to flowering, ear length, and ear weight per plot. Results indicated that compost and KCl fertilizers significantly affected plant height, leaf area, days to flowering, and ear length, but had no significant effect on stem diameter or ear weight per plot. The interaction between compost and KCl produced the highest plant height (165.89 cm) and ear length (21.69 cm) in treatment K3C1. The findings suggest that optimal fertilization using compost and KCl can enhance sweet corn productivity by improving vegetative growth and reproductive development. Nevertheless, the absence of significant effects on stem diameter and ear weight per plot indicates that nutrient balance, especially nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), remains crucial for maximizing yields. Therefore, integrating compost and KCl with complementary sources of macronutrients could promote more consistent outcomes. This research also highlights the role of organic matter in enriching soil fertility, maintaining soil structure, and supporting sustainable agriculture. The combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers demonstrates the potential for eco-friendly crop management practices that balance productivity with environmental responsibility. These results provide valuable insights for farmers, agronomists, and policymakers in developing efficient fertilization strategies for sweet corn cultivation within local conditions.

Abstract

The rapid rise of social media usage among adolescents presents both opportunities and challenges, particularly concerning mental health and digital literacy. In the digital age, adolescents must navigate complex virtual environments while maintaining psychological well-being. This community service program aimed to enhance digital literacy and promote mental health awareness among school-aged adolescents in Aceh. The activity involved 25 participants aged 15–24, drawn from various schools and youth communities. Implemented over two days, the program employed a quasi-experimental design, combining interactive education, case discussions, and role-play simulations. Pre-test and post-test evaluations measured changes in participants' knowledge levels. The results indicated a significant improvement in understanding digital literacy and mental health concepts, as evidenced by a Wilcoxon test result of p = 0.010 (< 0.05). These findings underscore the effectiveness of interdisciplinary educational interventions in equipping adolescents with critical digital skills and emotional resilience in the era of pervasive social media. The program highlights the importance of collaborative efforts among educators, families, and communities in fostering safe, informed, and mentally healthy digital engagement among youth.
