Abstract

Aceh is a province in Indonesia with a Muslim-majority region and applies special autonomy and qanun, but there is a paradoxical phenomenon in this region where a significant increase in zakat distribution, economic growth, and education is actually followed by an increase in the number of poor people. This study aims to test and analyze the effect of zakat, economic growth and education on poverty rates in 23 districts / cities of Aceh Province in 2011-2021. The research method used in this study is using a descriptive quantitative approach using secondary data. The analysis technique uses panel data regression which includes cross section data (23 districts / cities) and time series data (2011-2021). Data obtained from the official websites of Baitul Mal Aceh and the Central Bureau of Statistics of Aceh Province. The results showed that zakat and education partially had a significant negative effect on the poverty rate in Aceh, this identified that zakat and education succeeded in reducing poverty in Aceh. However, it is different with economic growth where the results show that partially economic growth has a positive but insignificant effect on the poverty rate. This indicates that an increase in economic growth causes an increase in the poverty rate in Aceh. Simultaneously, zakat, economic growth and education variables together have a significant effect on poverty reduction in Aceh.

Abstract

Abstract

Pontianak City Baznas has a potential zakat revenue of approximately 250 billion. However, the realization of zakat received was only 5.9 billion or only 2.4%. Meanwhile, the number of Muslims in Pontianak City is 511,431 people, but only 91,419 Muslims paid zakat in 2020 or only 17.9%. And in 2020 there was a decrease in zakat receipts of around 1.1 billion and a decrease in the number of muzakki by around 34,000 people. This research aims to find out what factors hinder and support the zakat management strategy in the Pontianak City Baznas and how to optimize the zakat management strategy in the Pontianak City Baznas. This type of research uses a descriptive quantitative approach. The types of data used are primary and secondary data. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The analysis method used is SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). The results of the analysis show that the main inhibiting factor in zakat management in Pontianak City Baznas is that Baznas has not been able to reach all muzakki in Pontianak City and many new zakat management institutions have been established that have the same role. Meanwhile, the main supporting factor for zakat management at Baznas Pontianak City is the existence of Baznas which is supported by law and the majority of the people of Pontianak City are Muslims. Pontianak City Baznas is in quadrant I (Aggressive Strategy), namely Pontianak City Baznas is in a strong condition and has opportunities, so it is very possible to continue to expand, increase potential and receive maximum zakat. The strategy for managing zakat at the Pontianak City Baznas to be optimal is by increasing the socialization of zakat to all levels of society, increasing the formation of UPZs in mosques, surau-surau and agencies in Pontianak City, collaborating with zakat management institutions and zakat institutions. newly established in Pontianak City, carrying out new innovations in the zakat program, optimizing the database, and developing a zakat payment system using current trending technological media.

Abstract

The border region between Indonesia and Malaysia has unique characteristics and great development potential. Border communities face special challenges related to limited access to resources and development opportunities. Based on the Key Performance Indicator (IKU) of PTN number 6 which shows a focus on cooperation and collaboration between study programs and partners at the international level. FIBAA accreditation requires universities to be able to improve their international reputation and the attractiveness of their educational programs. International cooperation can be an important factor in obtaining accreditation from FIBAA. This cooperation can provide additional value and provide certain benefits, especially if it involves leading institutions. Therefore, the PKM Team conducted benchmarking to the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universiti Malayasia Sarawak. The results of the discussions that had been carried out obtained the result that FEB Unimas agreed to the international cooperation between the Department of Economics and Development Studies, FEB Untan and FEB Unimas. This agreement opens up opportunities to improve the quality of education, research, and development in both institutions. The potential for international cooperation between FEB Unimas and FEB Untan is very positive, especially in improving the quality of education for Human Resources in border areas through scholarship and student exchange programs, skills and competency development, and increased research and innovation.
