Abstract

This research aims to know and understand the position of the family altar in local Papuan culture in maintaining the holiness of today's increasingly modern families and realizing the mission of Christ. The research method used is Qualitative with an Ethnographic approach. The primary data sources in this study consist of individuals familiar with and engaging in Family Altar rituals. Meanwhile, secondary data sources encompass existing scientific literature. The researcher selected participants and respondents non-randomly, specifically opting for purposeful sampling. This approach involved the deliberate selection of participants and respondents, including ten families represented by functional church workers such as pastors, elders, and shamas, as well as five young individuals categorized as youths. Finally, the research results contribute to constructing this ritual tradition's values into the congregation's families who struggle with multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-religious challenges and still survive and mission elegantly.

Abstract

Religious-based conflicts arise in diverse societies and tend to be triggered by simpler issues that expand into large-scale conflicts in the name of religion. The aim of this community service is to build solidarity and tolerance among the community as a form of anticipation against religiously nuanced conflicts in Entrop, Jayapura City. This community service is framed in the form of a religious moderation village initiated by STAKPN-Sentani. The method applied in this community service has gone through several stages, such as observation and interviews, FGD (focus group discussions) as the core activity, the declaration of the moderation village, and the preparation of reports. The outcomes achieved from this initiative include the development of an understanding of religious conflict mitigation based on religious teachings, where this mitigation involves comprehension of quotes from each religion's holy scriptures. Additionally, the culmination of this activity is the establishment of the religious moderation village guided by STAKPN-Sentani in Entrop. Religious conflict mitigation in Entrop is closely related to the discourse in holy scriptures and the involvement of religious higher education, due to the framework of the community's condition. It is hoped that through this initiative, a sense of tolerance among religious communities can be fostered to create an always conducive atmosphere.

Abstract

Christian mission in the midst of religious pluralism presents both challenges and opportunities to create peace. The church is called to proclaim the love of Christ to all people regardless of cultural, racial, ethnic and religious differences. In the context of pluralism, the biggest challenge is how to communicate the gospel message without causing conflict with other beliefs. However, this also opens up opportunities to strengthen interfaith dialog and strengthen tolerance. A qualitative method with a literature study approach is used to examine Christian mission in a pluralistic society. The Christian mission to live harmoniously in a religiously plural society is important and meaningful. The church has been wise in positioning itself and carrying out its role. The church has realized that the condition of religious pluralism is very vulnerable and easily triggers conflict. By understanding the insights of exclusivism, inclusivism, and pluralism, as well as the various opinions/thoughts that have been described above, the Church should not be trapped in radical groups but be increasingly wise in positioning itself appropriately and holding fast to biblical truth so that its role is elegant for all.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Christian Religious Education (CRE) through the culture of "dining table" in Christian families in Ifar Besar, Sentani, Papua, and identify the spiritual dialectics that occur in the context of that culture. The background of this research is the shift of traditional values in society due to modernization, which has an impact on the decline in the quality of value and moral education in the family. The research method used is qualitative with an analytical description approach, involving the direct participation of family members involved in the practice of dining table culture. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, which were then analyzed inductively and descriptively. The results of the study show that the integration of PAK with the local culture of the dining table contributes to the internalization of family, spiritual, and social values in Christian families in Ifar Besar. This process strengthens family relationships, fosters spiritual life, and helps families overcome the challenges of modernization. In addition, the culture of the dining table also creates a spiritual dialectic in the form of value reflection, spiritual transformation, and resolution of value conflicts and roles in the family. This research emphasizes the importance of local culture-based education in shaping children's character and moral values, as well as offering a relevant and effective educational model in the context of modernization.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to formulate evangelistic strategies and explores the internal and external challenges in the Indonesian especially in Jayapura-Papua context. The method used is qualitative with interview techniques with pastors, evangelists, and congregation elders. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model, namely through reduction, presentation of data in tables, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that evangelism in Indonesia faces various obstacles in three areas: cultural, social, and political. Internal challenges in the cultural field include a lack of understanding of contextual theology and the application of gospel inculturation, while external challenges are in the form of cultural diversity and rejection of Christian symbols. In the social sphere, the internal is the division between denominations, while the external is majority pressure and a negative stigma against evangelism. In the political field, internal challenges are in the form of a lack of church synergy in responding to regulations, while external challenges include legal restrictions and intolerance. This research shows the evangelistic strategies that integrate understanding of local culture with adaptive theological reflection. This is effective in answering challenges and conveying the gospel in a relevant way in the midst of the plurality of Jayapura society
