Abstract

Arabic language learning must experience its learning system reconstruction as a consequence of Covid-19 pandemic which hits the world globally. The system change from offline to online makes each learning component must adjust with new system by still referring to the learning principles built adjusting with the virtual system. This article presents the study result conducted on Arabic language program at State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya. The purpose of this research was to understand the students’ perception about online Arabic language learning based on the learning principle by Rusydi Ahmad Thu’aimah which covers communication principle, learning method principle, and learning media principle. This study was conducted by using qualitative method through case study approach with data obtained through questionnaire based survey strengthened by the data of interview result. The research result showed that students had quite good perception on Arabic language intensive learning in odd semester of 2021-2022.

Abstract

This research comprehensively describes implementing the "Whoop it Up" strategy in Arabic language learning integrated with the AIR model (Auditory, Intellectually, Repetition) Learning Model in Arabic Language Learning at MTs Bilingual NU Pucang. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through detailed observation and analysis, enhancing active student engagement, peer interaction, and reflection on the learning material. Within the AIR model, Arabic language learning goes beyond a passive process, involving students actively in language use, encouraging peer interaction, and fostering reflection on their understanding of the material. The combination of these two approaches offers diverse advantages. It can create a more engaging and interactive learning experience. At the same time, the AIR model provides additional structure and resources to support student understanding to create a dynamic learning environment, motivating students to participate actively and providing a holistic learning experience in comprehending and using the Arabic language. This research contributes valuable insights to develop innovative and effective teaching methods in the context of Arabic language learning.

Abstract

This research examines the possibilities and limitations of using ChatGPT in learning Arabic as a foreign language. Using a descriptive method, this study presents theories regarding using ChatGPT in language learning and how it is practically applied in learning Arabic as a foreign language. It also highlights the limitations learners should consider when using this application correctly and effectively. This research indicates that ChatGPT can assist Arabic language learners as "smart students" and "smart learning partner." With this role, ChatGPT can help them complete tasks and assignments, create a flexible and personalized learning environment, and improve their language skills. However, learners should also be mindful of the limitations of using ChatGPT, especially regarding ethical aspects and the limitations of the technology itself. They should maintain academic ethics and avoid excessive dependence on ChatGPT, which could negatively impact their critical thinking abilities, engagement spirit, and learning motivation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berisikan urgensi ilmu nahwu terhadap pembelajaran Bahasa Arab khusus nya pada keterampilan membaca yang didasarkan kepada kurangnya pemahaman pelajar terhadap kontribusi dan pentingnya mempelajarai Ilmu Nahwu. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah agar dapat memberikan wawasan dan pengetahuan tambahan terkait kontribusi atau peran ilmu nahwu terhadap keterampilan membaca Bahasa Arab yang lebih baik dan diharapkan juga agar dapat menumbuhkan kesadaran akan pentingnya pemahaman terkait ilmu nahwu, terkhusus bagi para pelajar Bahasa Arab. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan datanya menggunakan studi kepustakaan, wawancara, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwasanya keterampilan membaca yang baik ditunjang dengan adanya pemahaman terhadap Ilmu Nahwu yang mencakup tentang struktur kalimat (اعراب), jenis kalimat, penggunaan tanda baca yang tepat, serta kajian Ilmu Nahwu yang lain yang dapat mempengaruhi perolehan makna teks berbahasa Arab. Pemahaman terhadap ilmu nahwu maka akan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca yang baik dan mempermudah dalam menangkap isi, makna, ataupun kandungan dari informasi berbahasa Arab. This research discusses the importance of nahwu (Arabic grammar) in Arabic language learning, particularly in reading skills, which is based on the students' lack of understanding of the contribution and significance of studying Nahwu. The purpose of this study is to provide additional insights and knowledge regarding the contribution or role of Nahwu in improving Arabic reading skills, and it is also expected to raise awareness of the importance of understanding Nahwu, especially for Arabic language learners. This research is a qualitative study using literature review, interviews, and observations as data collection techniques. The results of this study indicate that good reading skills are supported by an understanding of nahwu, which includes sentence structure (اعراب), sentence types, proper punctuation, and other aspects of nahwu that affect the interpretation of Arabic texts. A good understanding of nahwu can enhance reading skills and make it easier to grasp the content, meaning, or substance of information in the Arabic language.

Abstract

The integration of character values into the learning process has become a major focus for many educational institutions, as it is considered an indicator of success in shaping students' characters. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, where the data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis process includes several steps, such as data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The primary objective of this research is to explore the integration of character education in learning activities in the Arabic language subject at MTsN 2 Sidoarjo. The strategies applied include observing and analyzing teaching materials and teaching methods. The research findings show that character education is integrated through various Arabic language skills, such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing. For instance, the theme "خَالِق الْعَالَم" teaches the importance of gratitude and environmental responsibility, while the theme "جَمَال الطَّبِيْعَة" encourages students to appreciate the beauty of nature. Additionally, teachers use effective teaching methods and create a conducive learning environment. The results of this study indicate that the integration of character education in Arabic language learning not only improves students' language skills but also contributes to forming individuals who are responsible, environmentally conscious, and possess good morals in their daily lives.

Abstract

Evaluasi perlu dilakukan setelah terlaksananya suatu proses pembelajaran, termasuk pembelajaran mufrodat bahasa arab. Evaluasi pembelajaran mufrodat bahasa arab bertujuan untuk melihat dan mengetahui ketercapaian pemahaman siswa terhadap materi mufrodat yang telah diajarkan. Namun seringkali kegiatan evaluasi masih dilakukan dengan cara tradisional yaitu dengan menggunakan tes tulis dan tes lisan. Evaluasi pembelajaran mufrodat dapat dilakukan dengan media permainan salah satu media evaluasi berbasis permainan adalah aplikasi puzzlemaker. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana penggunaan aplikasi puzzlemaker sebagai media evaluasi pembelajaran mufrodat siswa MTs Negeri 2 Sidoarjo. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII B MTs Negeri 2 Sidoarjo yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan evaluasi pembelajaran mufrodat bahasa arab dikelas VIII B MTs Negeri 2 Sidoarjo berbantuan aplikasi puzzlemaker berdampak positif. Hal ini ditandai dengan siswa merasa senang, antusias, lebih bersemangat dalam mengerjakan dan menikmati seluruh rangkaian tahapan evaluasi pembelajaran mufrodat. Sehingga berpengaruh juga terhadap hasil belajarnya.

Abstract

Background. Pragmatic theory emphasizes the importance of context in communication, including both linguistic and non-linguistic aspects. Aims. This study aims to explore the role of pragmatic theory in Arabic language teaching, examine its application in the classroom, and identify the challenges encountered in integrating pragmatic theory into Arabic language teaching. Methods. This study used a qualitative approach using the library research method. Result. The results show that pragmatic theory helps students understand language structures and use them appropriately within social and cultural contexts, making communication more meaningful and natural. Conclusion. Despite challenges such as limited teacher understanding, lack of learning resources, and cultural barriers. Implementation. This approach can be optimized through teacher training, the development of communication-based curricula, and the use of digital learning media

Abstract

Arabic language learning in Indonesia must be resolved immediately because it always faces linguistic and non-linguistic problems. Non-linguistic problems include learning motivation, media, model, allocation, and learning environment. Linguistic problems include linguistic problems such as phonetics, morphology, and syntax. The age of the students and the learning environment determine many language learning problems. This article reviews the obstacles faced by seventh grade students of MTs Negeri Gresik when learning to speak Arabic. This paper uses descriptive analysis through interviews, direct observation, and document collection. After data collection and analysis results identified two main factors that cause this difficulty, one of which is factors outside the Arabic language itself. The results show that similar problems are also common in other madrasahs. Although focused on one school, this study makes an important contribution in understanding the Arabic speaking difficulties that are often experienced by grade VII students, especially in a madrasah environment. This paper can be the basis for Arabic teachers to design more effective and innovative learning strategies to overcome the problems faced by students. In addition, this research contributes to the curriculum development team, especially in terms of determining relevant learning materials and developing learning methods that better accommodate the needs of students. And finally, the results of this analysis can be a reference for future research that wants to explore similar issues in other schools

Abstract

Among four skills in the Arabic learning, speaking skill is the most passive skill in Arabic learning, especially in Indonesia. The role of teacher and students is the main key in the success of Arabic learning especially in speaking skills. In this research, a phenomenological qualitative research method was used to find out the description and identification of Arabic learning strategies with a focus on freedom thinking and communication. The data of this study were obtained from literature-based descriptive analysis and student response in interviews. The student response data was obtained from distributing questionnaires related to FT-CODING learning strategies. The result showed that FT-CODING strategy is efficient in improving student’s speaking skills because it focuses on freedom thinking and communication with balanced roles between teachers and students. It was in line with the behavioral theory by John B. Watson that language learning is a form of stimulus and response. It was also supported by the semiotic theory by Ferdinand De Saussure that the meaning of language is obtained directly from signfier. Furthermore, this article was expected to examine quantitatively regarding the implementation of the FT-CODING strategy in a specific school level.
