Abstract

This study aims to describe the type, distribution, and tendency of the use of imagery in the collection of poems Lagu Sleep by Ama Gaspar as a representation of the aesthetic strategy of contemporary Indonesian poetry. The focus of the research is directed at six types of imagery, namely visual, hearing, smell, taste, tactile and movement images, which play an important role in building the reader’s aesthetic meaning and experience. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a type of literature research. The data source is in the form of a collection of poems Sleeping Song by Ama Gaspar which contains 82 poems, with 52 poems selected as research data based on the completeness and clarity of the imagery elements. Data in the form of words, phrases, and expressions were analyzed using content analysis techniques through the stages of identification, classification, and interpretation of images. The validity of the data is maintained through repeated reading and checking the consistency of classification by peer researchers. The results of the study showed that 151 imaging data were found spread across six types of images, with details: 50 data visual images, 35 data auditory images, 32 motion images, 18 sensory images, 10 sensory images, and 6 sensory images. Visual imagery is the most dominant type, characterized by visual depictions of objects, light, colors, and spaces that function to concretize the inner experience of the lyrical figure. Auditory and motion imagery support mood dynamics and emotional conflict, while other imagery enriches layers of affective and symbolic meaning. The discussion suggests that the dominance of visual imagery reflects the tendency of visuality in contemporary poetry, while other variations of imagery show the use of human sensory experience as the primary poetic strategy. The novelty of this research lies in the comprehensive mapping of all types of imagery and its tendency to dominate contemporary poetry works that are relatively new and have not been studied stylistically, especially the work of Ama Gaspar. These findings contribute to the development of the study of the stylistics of Indonesian poetry and can be used as a reference in literary learning.

Abstract

Abstract: Vocabulary is an important thing that must be possessed by a student in Indonesian language lessons, including literature lessons. To measure the extent to which the students' vocabulary mastery, the teacher needs to test the students. Before doing the test, of course, the teacher needs questions in measuring students' vocabulary mastery. The phenomenon found in the field is that teachers pay less attention to indicators in making literary questions. This causes the questions made to be not in accordance with the student's abilities so that the expected results are not achieved properly. The teacher's lack of skill in making literary questions, especially about vocabulary mastery, is caused by several factors. One of the factors is the lack of upgrading and training provided to teachers. The purpose of this PkM activity is to provide understanding to teachers in preparing vocabulary mastery questions in learning literature. There are several conclusions that can be drawn after carrying out this community service activity. First, the participants of the PkM activity (the teachers of the MGMP team at the high school level throughout Pekanbaru) were very enthusiastic about participating in this training. Second, after conducting training and discussions with teachers, four indicators were obtained in the preparation of vocabulary questions derived from theories related to vocabulary. Third, after obtaining several indicators, a vocabulary mastery question is drawn up which is also derived directly from the indicators that have been mutually agreed upon.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the image of women in the fairy  tale of Lake Raja and Putri Bunga Harum by Ahmad Ijazi H. This study is motivated by the importance of understanding the representation of women in children's literature and folklore as a medium that helps shape people's views on women. The research uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis method. The source of research data is in the form of the fairy tale text  of Danau Raja and Putri Bunga Harum by Ahmad Ijazi H., while the research data is in the form of narratives and dialogues that contain images of women. Data analysis was carried out through intensive reading, identifying data, classifying data based on women's image categories, interpreting the meaning of data, and drawing conclusions. This research uses Sugihastuti's theory of women's image which divides women's image into self-image and social image. The validity of the data is carried out through theoretical triangulation by comparing the findings of the research with the concepts of feminist literary criticism and relevant previous research. The results of the study showed that there were 31 data that represented the image of women. The data consisted of 21 self-image data and 10 social image data. Self-image includes physical image and psychic image. The physical image is displayed through the depiction of beauty, elegance, body health, and the specialties of the figure of Princess Bunga Harum who is depicted as having the fragrant scent of flowers. Psychic image is shown through intelligence, politeness, gentleness, compassion, loyalty, courage, and having determination in fighting for his desires. The social image of women is represented through the role of women in the family and society, such as maternal roles, social concern, respect for women, and the position of women as an important part of the kingdom's social structure. The findings of the study show that psychic imagery is the most dominant image so that women in fairy tales are not only represented through physical aspects, but also through personality qualities and social roles that they have.

Abstract

Language is the main means of social interaction that not only functions as a means of communication, but also as a reflection of the identity and social position of its speakers in society. This research is motivated by the phenomenon of diversity of economic and educational backgrounds in Muara Basung Village which is suspected to affect the variation in language use among adolescents, such as the use of slang, mixing codes, and shifting the level of formality. The purpose of this study is to describe the variation in language use by social class, identify differences in language style choices, and analyze the influence of the social environment on the way adolescents communicate. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of adolescents aged 13–18 years on Jalan Banjaran, Muara Basung Village. Data were collected through participatory observation techniques by observing direct verbal interactions as well as documentation in the form of recorded conversations and social media activities. The results of this study are expected to show that social class differences that include the economic and educational levels of parents significantly create different linguistic patterns in adolescents. In conclusion, the use of language in adolescents in Muara Basung Village functions as a status symbol that forms self-identity and shows closeness or distance between certain social groups. This research makes a theoretical contribution to the sociolinguistic development of the relationship between social structure and language variation.
