Abstract

The research aims to analyze the height anddiameter growth, and survivalpercentage of shorea balangeran seedlingsunder shade house after being kept in the cartons, and tended in the small greenhouse. The method used was a completerandom design. The results showed that the highest high growth of belangeran seedlings under the shadehousewas 3.25 cmthat was reached through the treatmens of keeping the seedlings for 6 days in the carton, and without tending in small green house. The highest diameter growth of belangeran seedlings under the shadehouse was 0.188 cm reached through the treatmens of keeping the seedlings for 9 days in the carton, and tending the seedlings in small green house for 15 days. All belangeran seedlings (141 seedlings) used during the research process were alive under the shade house with the percentage of 100%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan ilmu pengaruh perlakuan media tentang laju perkecambahan dan persentase perkecambah benih beringin. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan ilmu tentang caramengecambahkanbenih beringin dengan menggunakan media pasir, tanah, dan rockwool. Berdasarkan dari hasil penelitian ini, perlakuan media tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap perkecambahan benih beringin. Namun demikian, laju perkecambahan benih beringin tertinggi diperoleh dari media rockwool (15,42hari), disusul oleh media pasir (20,56 hari), dan media tanah (22,00 hari). Persentase perkecambahan benih beringin tertinggi diperoleh dari media rockwool (26,67%), di susul oleh media tanah (16,67%), dan media pasir (10,00%). Secara keseluruhan, pengaruh perlakuan terbaik untuk perkecambahan benih beringin adalah menggunakan media rockwool dari hasil laju perkecambahan dan persentase berkecambah.

Abstract

Agarwood is one of the many non-timber forest product commodities that has an important role in terms of increasing the country's foreign exchange.One of the plant commodities is agarwood (Aquilaria malaccensis). The purpose of this study was to analyze the growth response of agarwood seedlings on a combinations of media treatment, shade and plastic covers. The experimental design used wasa factorial inthe completely randomized design with three factors: media, shade, and plastic cover. The variable measured was the height increment. The results showed that a combination of 75% topsoil with a mixture of 25% sand under 50% paranet shade and using a plastic cover provided a very significant effect on height. Abstract

Deforestation and degradation of natural forests and plants reached 1.6-2.0 million ha. Forestry Research and Development Agencies throughout Indonesia have begun to develop various silvicultural techniques of ulin so that the extinction of the plant can be prevented. One of the silvicultural systems that began to be developed was a gap system. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth of ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri Teijsm & Binn.), and the influence of the size of the gaps on the growth of ulin plants in Kintap KHDTK. The results obtained were the average growth of the lowest ironwood plants from the value of diameter (1.27 cm)  that was at without gap treatment, while the highest growth was the best diameter (5.01 cm), which was at the gap with diameter of 12 m. The optimal diameter of ironwood growth is in the size of a 12 m. Treatment of overlays of 12 m gives a good growth effect for ironwod plants.

Abstract

ABSTRACT,This study aims to analyze the effect of duration of seed soaking on percentage of seed germination of cinnamon.This study appliedthree treatments and five replications. Each treatment consisted of 10 seedst, so the number of seedsneeded was 150 seeds. The treatments were duration of seed soaking of 12 hours, duration of seed soaking of 24 hours, and without seed soaking (control). The analisis model used was a completely randomized design. The results of this study showed that duration of seed soaking significantly affected the percentage of seed gemination of cinnamon. The highest percentage of germination was obtained from the seeds soaked for 24 hours (90%) followed by the seeds soaked for 12 hours (76%), and the lowest one was gained from the seeds without treatment/control (62%).Keywords: Seed, cinnamon; percentage of germination.ABSTRACT, Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persentase perkecambahan benih kayu manis. Penelitian ini menggunakantiga perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Setiap perlakuan terdiri dari 10 benih kayu manis, sehingga jumlah benih yang digunakan adalah sebanyak 150 benih. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah prendaman benih dengan air biasa selama 24 jam, 12 jam, dan tanpa perendaman. Model analisis yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa persentase perkecambahan tertinggi diperoleh dari perlakuan perendaman benih selama 24 jam (90%) diikuti olehperlakuan perendaman benih selama 12 jam(76%), dan persentase perkecambahan benih terendah diperoleh dari benih yang tidak diberi perlakuan/kontrol (62%). perlakuan tanpa perendaman sebesar 62%.Kata kunci: Benih, kayu manis, persentase perkecambahan.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the frequency and intensity of insect attacks on mahogany seedlings (Swietenia mahagoni), also determine the level of damage that was caused by insect that attack mahogany seeds (S. mahagoni). Data used in this research is primary data and secondary data. Primary data is obtained through observations by making direct by grouping the level of insect attacks, secondary data is carried out by recording and measuring data to the agencies that was related to the environmental factors of the research location such as climate, humidity and temperature in the nursery. The results of the data shows that the frequency of insect attacks is about 78.6% and the frequency of leaf spot disease (leaf spot) is about 16%, while the overall attack of the frequency rate is about 94.6%, then the intensity of attacks on healthy seedlings is about 27, 317 seedlings were slightly damaged, 146 moderately damaged seeds, 1 seeds were severely damaged and 9 seedlings died with an intensity of attack of 32.4%, the damage rate that was caused by the insect and also leaf spot that attack mahogany seedlings (S. mahagoni) fall into the category of moderate damage. Based on the results of this study, insects and diseases that attack mahogany seedlings (S. mahagoni) in the nursery of The Centre of Watershed Management and Barito Protected Forests (BPDASHL) were green grasshopper insects (Oxya chinensis), stem borer insects (Xylosandrus sp.), Walang sangit insects (Leptocorisa acuta) and leaf spot diseases (leaf spot). Plant control is needed such as giving pesticides, natural enemies, from a kind of parasitoid wasp that attacks larvae Xylosandrus, and uses fungicides or wood vinegar.Keywords: Insects, Mahogany, Intensity of attacks, Level of damage

Abstract

The aims of this study to determine the response of the growth of Nyamplung seedlings to the provision of planting media (soil, sand, and a mixture of both), and maintenance in plastic hoods. The benefit of this research is to provide information on the response of nyamplung seedling growth with various growing media and maintenance in plastic hoods to the growth of nyamplung seedlings which are useful in developing silvicultural techniques for the purpose of nyamplung cultivation to accelerate growth. Analysis data using design random complete (RAL) factorial) with the observation parameter is the increase in height of nyamplung seedlings. The results showed that the maintenance in plastic hoods had a very significant effect on the increase in height with the treatment of planting media in the form of sand, soil and a mixture of both.Keywords: Nyamplung; Media; Plastic hoods; Growth

Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth response of seedlings to the height of inundation measured from the root neck that has been marked with a sewing thread with a distance of 1 cm. tillering diameter to the measured inundation height from the root neck sewing thread with a distance of 1 cm and knowing the percentage of life of the seedlings of Shorea balangeran obtained by calculating the number of live tillers divided by the number of dead tillers multiplied by 100%. The benefits of research so that it can be an information material and material for consideration for the relevant agencies to determine the location of planting of prince baloons related to the height of the puddle in a place. The research was carried out using a completely randomized design (CRD) and diversity analysis method. The results showed that the highest increase in the number of prince puppies occurred on the PSP treatment (Immersion to Polybag) with an increase in the average value of 2.09 cm while the lowest increase in the height of the prince's tillers occurred with the PSUB treatment. average 1.16 cm. The largest increase in diameter of prince puppies occurred in TP treatment (without immersion) with an average increase in diameter of 0.17 mm while the lowest increase in diameter of bald puppies occurred in the treatment of PSUB (Immersion to End of Stem) with an average increase in diameter of 0.052 mm. Abstract

Ulin is a type of woody trees with a slow growth process that can be caused by two factors, namely internal factors (seed sources) and environmental factors (growth sites). Therefore the ulins from two different places (Kalsel and Kaltim) were tested in order to compare their growth. This was done by observing the growth of height and diameter of the stem. The method used was a quantitative method using the Independent-Sample T Test in the Staistical Package for Social Sciences to compare the growth of the two ulins. The results obtained at an average plant height showed that ulin Kaltim had better growth of 3.07 m than that of South Kalimantan which was 2.15 m. Furthermore, the diameter of ulin derived from Kaltim was 13.12 mm while that of South Kalimantan was 9.63 mm.Keywords: Ulin; Growth; Kaltim; Kalsel
