Abstract

Background: Data from the 2018 Global Burden of Cancer Study (Globocan) noted that breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the world with an incidence of 11.6% and the number of new cases of 2,089 million. The American Cancer Society, in 2018 also reported that breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the world with an incidence rate of 40 per 100,000, new cases of 30.5% with a death rate of 21.5% per year. Chemotherapy is one of the most common treatments for breast cancer. Chemotherapy has several effects that can worsen the patient's functional status, such as in work, self-care, and maintenance of family or social roles. This can make the quality of life of cancer patients decrease. Research objective: To determine the relationship between side effects of chemotherapy and the quality of life of breast cancer patients. Research method: Correlational quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The total sample is 103 breast cancer patients taken by total sampling technique. Results: The results of univariate analysis showed that most of the breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at Dharmais Cancer Hospital had a good quality of life (54.4%), and most of them were adaptive to the side effects of chemotherapy (53.4%). The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the side effects of chemotherapy and the quality of life of breast cancer patients at the Dharmais Cancer Hospital in 2023 (p value: 0.001). Conclusions and Suggestions: It is hoped that the hospital will implement SOPs for nurses so that they play a greater role in improving the quality of life of breast cancer patients by providing holistic nursing care, especially in the physical health domain.

Abstract

Background: Mucositis as one of the side effects of chemotherapy is inflammation that has toxic properties as a result of radiotherapy or chemotherapy which has an impact on disrupting the entire gastrointestinal system from oral to anal, the results of a preliminary study of data obtained on cases of mucositis in cancer patients in hospitals Dharmais Cancer from August to October 2022. Objective: To determine the effect of oral hygiene with 0.9% NaCl on reducing the grade of mucositis in nasopharyngeal cancer patients at Dharmais Hospital, Jakarta. Research method: Quasi experiment (quasi experiment), The quasi experimental design used was Pre and Post Test Without Control, The number of samples used was 17 people. Data analysis using t-test. Research results: The results of the analysis of differences in mucositis grades showed that before the oral hygiene intervention with 0.9% NaCl (pre-test) the average mucositis grade of respondents was 10.59 with a standard deviation of 2.181, but after the oral hygiene intervention was carried out with NaCl 0.9% (post-test) there was a change in the average mucositis grade to 9.53 with a standard deviation of 2.183. The statistical test results obtained a p value of 0.000, meaning that there was an effect of oral hygiene with 0.9% NaCl on reducing the grade of mucositis in nasopharyngeal cancer patients at the Dharmais Cancer Hospital, Jakarta. Conclusion: There is an effect of oral hygiene with 0.9% NaCl on reducing the grade of mucositis in nasopharyngeal cancer patients at Dharmais Cancer Hospital Jakarta, with a p value of 0.000 (<0.05).

Abstract

Introduction: The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that cancer sufferers worldwide in 2020 will reach 19.3 million cases with a death rate of up to 10 million people. Riskesdas data for 2018 shows the prevalence of cancer in Indonesia is 1.49%. Chemotherapy in cancer patients often causes anxiety as a psychological effect. Family is the closest person for cancer patients in dealing with their illness. Family support for cancer patients is needed to lift the patient's mentality and enthusiasm for life. Purpose: This study was to determine the relationship between family support and anxiety levels in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Method: Correlational descriptive with cross sectional approach. The study was conducted at the Dharmais Cancer Hospital in December 2022 - January 2023, with a sample of 185 respondents taken using a purposive sampling technique. Results: 38.9% of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at Dharmais Cancer Hospital experienced severe anxiety, 49.7% patients experienced moderate anxiety, 11.4% of patients experienced mild anxiety, and most of the cancer patients had good family support (60.5%). The results of the bivariate analysis of the Spearman rank test obtained p value: 0.000, and r: 0.506. Conclusion: there is a significant relationship between family support and the anxiety level of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, where the better the family support, the lighter the anxiety of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy

Abstract

Introduction: The Emergency Room (IGD) is the first stop and referral place for patients. Patient visits to the emergency room (ER) continue to increase every year. Dharmais Cancer Hospital 66.46% are Australian Triage Scale (ATS) 3 category patients with pain. The nurse's actions in caring for patients must act quickly and sort patients according to priority. Response time is an indicator of success in treating emergency department (ER) patients. Objective: to determine the relationship between nurse response time and satisfaction level in Australian Triage Scale (ATS) 3 category patients with pain in the emergency department of Dharmais Cancer Hospital. Research Method: quantitative analysis with cross sectional design. The sample size of this study was 132 using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using Chi Square Test. Research results: most of the nurse's response time is fast as much as 76.5%, the satisfactory level of satisfaction is as much as 64.4%. There is a relationship between nurse response time and the level of satisfaction in patients in the Australian Triage Scale (ATS) 3 category with pain in the emergency room at Dharmais Cancer Hospital with p = 0.001. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the response time of nurses and the level of satisfaction in patients with the Australian Triage Scale (ATS) 3 category with pain. Research suggestion: It is expected that nurses maintain a fast response time of ≤ 5 minutes and are in accordance with the SPO, besides that it is hoped that nurses can manage their psychology because of high motivation and hard work of nurses in carrying out their responsibilities making nurse performance better, proper handling so that services patients to be effective and efficient.

Abstract

Examination results at Dharmais Hospital found cervical cancer out of 1640, 77 of them died. One of the prevention efforts is to carry out regular pap smear examinations, but based on available data every year the motivation of female nurses to carry out pap smear examinations has decreased. In order to increase the awareness of nurses about the importance of early detection, health education can be given related to early detection of cervical cancer. To determine the effect of cervical cancer health education on the motivation for early detection of cervical cancer in nurses at the Dharmais Cancer Hospital Jakarta in 2022. Pre-experimental design with a one group pretest posttest design. The sample size for this study was about 155 married nurses using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test. Motivation for early detection of cervical cancer in nurses before being given cervical cancer health education was mostly in the low category 65.2%, afterward most were in the high category 88.4% . With a p value of 0.001, the analysis's results show that nurses' motivation to do early cervical cancer detection is affected by health education the about cancer. There is an influence of cervical cancer health education on the motivation for early detection of cervical cancer in nurses.
